I've been golfing for almost two years and couldn't figure out why I was always slicing with my driver. I've watched a lot of youtube videos to try to solve it. Peter, your tip to keep your left shoulder (I'm left-handed) down on the backswing meant I drove eight out of nine drives straight this morning! I couldn't be happier. Thank you, Peter!

That might be the best piece of advice I've seen on fixing the shanks. As an addition to that, for folks who are trying to implement that shoulder position, a thing that MIGHT help with that would be to feel in your back swing as though you're pushing your right elbow (for a right handed player) forward. You'll find that when your elbow is forward, your shoulder must be back, that's just the way the body works.

I've been struggling with a slice for a while, that has turned into a "Power Fade"

Worked on this principle/move yesterday while playing. I immediately had better results, better misses, etc. I also felt like I swung half as hard and outdrove my playing partner by 20 to 25 yards each time. I went from slicing and trying to close the clubface, aiming left, having a stronger grip, and swinging out to the right to simply tucking my right elbow and making sure it's rotated properly at the top. This move also seemed to prevent my wrist from cupping as much. My playing partner is playing his slice shot shape well, but he would then say..."I would do anything for that shot shape. How are you doing that!? It is awesome!" Makes me excited to hit the course now that I am hitting the ball straight or even a little right to left. I still have my miss right, but its probably 1/5 vs 4/5 and it simply comes from poor shoulder rotation at the top and swinging too hard. Thanks for the awesome video Pete!

It is funny because i have sliced for 15 years, and i have tried just about everything! I came to terms with my slice about a year ago and slowed my swing down to about 50-60%, teed the ball low, played the ball almost mid in my stance, closed the club face in the grip, and i could hit a nice fade about 215-230Y(sometimes or wicked left into the woods). I would love to take a full swing and have some confidence that a banana/boomerang slice will not appear! in other words TY TY TY for this vid. I plan on hitting a few hundred balls just working on my shoulder and stance. Love the Vids Pete, and GL on making the British Open!

I went to my local PGA Pro for a lesson this week, as I have a mean 'slice'! A lot of what he was saying was in this video. We filmed my swing and it was easy to see that I was doing wrong. It shows you how important it is to go and get a lesson. It's only through videos like this one, I could speak in technical terms and understand what he was asking me to do.
Keep up the great videos PF.

Watched this vid yesterday. Went out with my wife and brother in laws this morning to play 9 and applied it. Only sliced one drive. Shot my personal best. Also made a point not to think about what the final score could be, just took on shot at a time (per another of your videos). So thanks!!! As far as slice corrections tried in the past, I try to follow Gary Player's instructions in his book Golf after 50 and that helps a lot. Adding your tip to that seems to have taken me to the next level.

I was taught to tuck in my right elbow in which accomplished the same for me by lowering my shoulder and swing plane on the way back. Never looked back and for the first time I started playing golf by shaping more shots for the result rather than the mental hit it straight down the middle that most try to do. Great content again Pete.

I don't slice, more prone to slight pull-draw and I've been trying to do that shoulder "roll" as part of the transition. It is so much easier to incorporate it into the back-swing. I've instantly shallowed my club, made my club path 5* more inside-out and created a push-draw. Awesome. Thanks Pete, ❤️❤️❤️ back at ya.

Push fade was my curse as long as I have played golf(20 to 40 yards right and short) , in a iron club fitting the fitter explained what I was doing and why and now I have simply implemented the fix - which is exactly what sir Peter Finch 😀 explained here. Now i hit a strong power fade throughout my driver and woods.

Yet another great video. Watched this and did just what you said not to do ... ran right out to the driving range. The hand on the shoulder suggestion works well for me only I used this drill for my irons. Used it before every shot to make sure I felt I was in the right position at the top of my back swing. I hit every shot super pure. Decided to play 9 holes and shot 6 over (with a double on a par 3). I'll watch the video you actually made for irons later today ....

Really strangely, I found that my swing was too vertical. Swinging the club almost more like a baseball bat around seemed to both fix my slice and make the ball fly farther.
Only did this last week but now I've seen this video, it makes more sense because this causes the shoulder to sit down a bit and the elbow to point straight down to the ground.

    Good info as always
But my favourite thing in Finchys videos is when he wears jumpers that i also have. Love those Adidas pullovers, have every colour.

Really can’t wait to get out and try this it’s killing my game at the moment and trying different things which is making it even more inconsistent. Will put the hrs in Saturday trying this. Help needed 👏🏻 thanks for all the great content Pete love the videos.
