This is me my wife's song a dedicated to her today she's in the hospital in ICU incubated on a breathing machine I love you
One of Nat King Cole's final hits, and a beautiful one at that. He expresses the feeling of the song so effortlessly. This is all live from his BBC special, "An Evening With Nat King Cole".
This is so beautiful, it made me cry. Yes, chillun', this is what television used to be like: real talent, live music.
Makes you wanna cry every time you listen to it. I had my young daughter sing this with me when she was only 7 or 8 and that was only a few years ago. She will always remember these songs.
13 crazy people with thumb's down. I can not understand it. This is a masterpiece
Mary Lynn Johnson-Kerker 13 people who have no souls. From NKC himself to background. vocals, this song is indeed a masterpiece
Those people are idiots. They're either bigots, tone deaf or children who don't and can't imagine what Real music sounds like. Just ignore them.
Probably descendants of the racists who complained to the network when he was given a television show.
This gentleman passed away when I was in my early teens. He is still my favorite male singer of all times. He touches a chord within me. He can still make me weep.
No lip synching, no auto tune, just real talent. Love you, Nat ❤
You prolly dont care but if you're stoned like me atm you can watch pretty much all of the latest movies on instaflixxer. I've been watching with my gf during the lockdown xD
@Finley Saint definitely, I've been watching on Instaflixxer for since december myself =)
May 16th, 1963 Capitol Records 1750 N Vine St. Ralph Carmichael conducting the Orchestra with His arrangement along with Britain's Cliff Adams Singers in My Grandparents' old LA, Hollywood neighborhood
I grew up in an orphanage in the 50's - 60's. Music was shunned as was the outside world. When I fortunately got back with my father in 1964, I recall hearing The Christmas Song - I couldn't stop crying listening to this incredible song and finally being home with my dad. I was hooked on Cole as was my dad.
whatsupwiththatyo......
For some reason, your
comment really touched
my heart. I pictured your
young self, listening to
the Christmas song,
crying, and being with
your dad. Hope you are
experiencing a fulfilling
life, filled with peace and
hope.

I really don't see how it EVER gets better than this. Thanks so much for sharing!
Our vocabulary is not aduqout enough to render the highest adoration to this sensation
I am really born in the wrong era. This song makes my heart melt and gave me some tears which I cannot explain.
It doesn't matter when you were born...you and this found each other, and you can play it as often as you want.
Nat is super human if your heart 💔 is not pulled there's something irregular
Never a sensational seeker this makes him so sensationalkit dawn's upon me one as brilliant must still appear
It's sad how his variety show folded due to lack of sponsors - a real crime.
Nat Cole himself put it best when he commented about the lack of any major sponsors for his TV program, "The Nat King Cole Show," he said, "Sponsors don't have any guts. Madison Avenue is afraid of the dark." A quote from the book, Nat King Cole (A Personal and Professional Biography of a Man as Unforgettable as his Music) by James Haskins with Kathleen Benson.
Nat himself said the sponsors are afraid of the dark ! This song bumped the Beatles off the charts. Imagine two years later we lost him. So sad! PS : Cudos to the cliff Adams singers.
This man mastered the art of commanding an audience. The second you see his face you are mesmerized in anticipation of his vocal abilities. His stage presence was second to none. In my humble opinion the greatest singer of my lifetime. This song sums up Mr. Cole with his smooth as silk delivery only makes one slide down in a comfortable chair, close your eyes and leave your cares & whoa for another time! Thanx Austin Casey, excellent taste my friend!!!
Nat King Cole has the best male singing voice I have ever heard.. A song like this adds fuel to my conviction. Simply and silky splendid!
Good men are born great men are superb they neither was or were but would always be.
I or no else can give a true description of Nat just listen and be mesmerized
There was literally a day like this in the summer of 1980. It was a Sunday. We had just gone to a concert with the Houston symphony at Jones Hall. The performance was Beethoven's Missa Solemnis. I was searching for the words and gestures to tell her good bye as we stood on her mother's porch steps. With each step backward I took, she stepped forward, as if she wanted to linger. The look on her face appeared expectant. A hug and a kiss seemed appropriate. I had known her for over a year and we had had so many conversations and done so many things together, I was falling in love with her, but I had not touched her. She had smiled and waved at me at church. We had several dates after that. We played tennis. She was musically talented. I enjoyed everything about her. Yet, there she was standing inches from me, accepting every compliment I gave her and looking at me as if she were waiting for a hug and a kiss. I wanted to kiss her and start planning a life with her but I didn't. We remained friends but time, distance, and other priorities intervened and we drifted apart. I've never forgotten that moment. This song reminds me of her.
@@CindyLindsey-yy6dh I respected her so highly, I thought I would be presumptuous if I thought I had the liberty to be that intimate with her.
The Chorus is non other than the Cliff Adams Singers. They were the best in the business in my opinion.
Austin, you have excellent taste in music! Nat is the greatest male singer ever. Keely Smith is the best female singer, who we just lost on December 16,2017. Far too many people don't even know she exists. I didn't until 5 years ago! If you haven't heard of her, give Keely a fair hearing. Again,a great post here. Take care and ROLL TIDE! Richard Rhoden from Muscle Shoals,Alabama
So many people love this song because they associate it with a spouse or loved one. I was 11 or 12 when this song came out and I remember thinking "this is the song that describes what/how I'm going to feel about my true love." I found her, lost her and now this beautiful song makes me cry.
I was sixteen and in love and one Summer day my boyfriend was taking me to work and this song was playing on the radio and when it said, "go on kiss her" he kissed me." Always loved that song after that. Aw youth.
It would be the perfect moment. I'm sure it was a special moment. If ever I should get the chance during this song I'll make a life long memory. Goodness, The music of that time was all about love. God Bless.
Again, just a beautiful story...you have captured the essence of this song and perfomance...bless you
My dad got me into Nat King Cole, miss u dad, thx for your great taste in music.
Same with my late Dad........he was a jazz aficionado. That’s all he listened to from a teenager until his passing at age 90. I’m still here with jazz & vocal standards at age 67. Nat is a timeless treasure.
I swear Nat King Cole is one of the few artists who can sing this old-time music but it doesn't seem old.
An absolutely incredibly B E A U T I F U L song , brilliantly sung by Nat King Cole.
Timeless beauty , that's for sure......thanks !!
Romance is what is missing in this day and age .This man is the epitome of class and style .When I was growing up I loved Nat King Cole. from the way he sang ,to the way he dressed .The total package.
Every once in awhile, something is done so well it becomes the standard, Nat KIng Cole did that with this song and many others. A life well lived!
This is a fabulous live performance.
The voice of that dark haired woman in the first chair is incredible.
+dpetrano It appears Nat thinks so, too. He's looking at her very tenderly when the group sings alone, and at the very end they lock eyes and smile as she begins to stand and reach out to him.
Don't read too much into it; she was reaching out to hand him a ukulele. It was cut off before you could see that.
@@tat3917 that's right, the racists did not play a white woman touching a black man...
This is such a lovely song which reminds me of a less stress-filled world without all the foolishness of facebook, twitter and the constant accessing of one's almighty phone. Nat Cole's performance and that of the singers is impeccable. No gizmos. Just pure music. The song is such a bittersweet depiction of summer love. It is to me, anyhow.
+Brian O'Neill that is a great observation. What you are witnessing is real, not phony, talent. Be safe.
I just cannot imagine a more lovely melody than this one, about as unique as On Green Dolphin Street, and also as haunting and "heart gripping" as My Funny Valentine
There’s always that one, that day that feeling that lasts through your lifetime!❤❤
Beautuful song, beautiful voice, beautiful man. What a voice
Met my wife 9 years ago in the summer on a Sunday. It was the only day we both had free. We dated every Sunday for over year and have been married now for 7 years this May. The song brings to mind wonderful memories of those times when we first met.
I never get tired of listening to that song or watch the video.
This is one of my favorite songs, if not my favorite by this amazing artist!
God bless you my friend. I'm very pleased all of you great people seem to be enjoying this as much as I do. I had doubts when I posted it that people would appreciate the beauty of it but I am very pleasantly surprised to see all your nice comments. This is truly an inspiring performance. Many thanks for enjoying! :-)
Austin
My grandparents use to live on N Bronson Ave during this era 2 blocks from Capital Melrose at 5515 Melrose where several great vocalists recorded including Nat King Cole until April of 56 when the new Capital Tower opened it's doors at 1750 Vine "The House that Nat Built"
When this gold nugget was recorded by Nat at Capitol Records on Vine St in May of 63 with Ralph Carmichael's arrangement & Ralph conducting the orchestra & Britain's Cliff Adams singers harmonizing & singing in the background this was somewhat near the end of the great American songbook era & what a way to bookend this marvelous era of American popular music from roughly the mid-20s to mid-60s
Thanks for this GREAT post......True story .i was 13 when this "CLASSIC SONG" was released in 1963.... I had a school boy crush on the girl down the street, we were sitting on her porch this song came on her transistor radio she leaned over and kissed me on the cheek....I was in love for a week :)
For the record we are so very thankful to you for giving us so much joy ,happiness this music is unique Nat Cole put the letter " S " on the word " SUPER STAR "
Mr nat king Cole was 1 of my favorite singers of all time, I call him the VOICE OF SILK because he was so smooth at singing God bless him.
There a lot of singers that I enjoy but all of them matching call is the one person that virtually every song he's ever sung I've enjoyed.
Even Frank Sinatra I was truly one of the great ones said about that can call that he was the best.
I don't know what else can be said?
Natalie's rendition is equally as tender.
This reminds me of the day I met my wife. It was a blind date and when I saw her I knew she was my soulmate. She passed 1 tear ago. I listen to this beautiful song and I have happy thoughts
I'm sorry for your loss my friend. I'm sure she was a beautiful person. Thank you for sharing. God Bless
There has been no other voice like that of Nat King Cole's. Love it!
the pure velvet voice of the king beautiful
Perfect. 63 people who I guess feel rap is better than this
such an ibeautiful intense nostalgic song...hard to listen to without cracking
The man had talent, sex appeal, class, persona and style. Such a stiking difference from today's, marginally talened and unsphisticated hip-hop characters!
Nat's best recording with an outstanding video to match. Had much more to offer but died at 47.
I first met my wife to be on Sunday, August 2, 1947. Four months later we married and during our 68 years together, this was "our song" and still chokes me up today after 3 years she's been gone. She still smiles for me that way, that Sunday, that summer of years ago.
beautiful. reminds me of my childhood when my dad and mom would listen to music like this in the 60's. miss the time and miss my mom & dad :(
Me, too. Driving home from church... Radio on in the summertime... Fell in love with this song even then.
I don't
think that popular music could get much better than this.
I can't stop singing, humming, playing, or loving this song. Nat's version is very sincere and soothing; however, Natalie's version is classy and brings me nostalgia. Whether I listen to Nat's or Natalie's version this song gives all these aforementioned. This is music and talent at its best.
Live and, just beautiful !
Live! A masterful masterpiece of a performance! Wow! Reminding me of my childhood. I remember this song when I was around 7 or 8 years old. But this not a simple nostalgia piece. This is how you brilliantly interpret and communicate a song regardless of the generation. Flawlessly presented. The modern singers of today need to watch this video over and over and over again.
I'm so afraid people of today dont know songs like this
One of The most beautiful songs ever written and sung by one the most amazing artists of all time , Mr Nat King Cole 💕💕🎶🎶
Just bought a Nat King Cole CD today...and THIS song is in it!

Had me in tears, recalling lost loves of long ago....so beautiful! If I could live my life all over....
I prefer this masterpiece over today music

I heard it in the movie "Them" that's out right now 04 2021
starting from the last weekend, I think I've listened to this song for more than 100 times.
Such a great song to savor
@@retired42002vz wow, i almost forgot about this tune

Out there in this world, That Sunday, That Summer is in the hearts of many!!! Just likethe Summer of 42
What a beautful choir.. It carries all the magic and sparkle of that time.. Not to forget the old Disney movies soundtracks
My favorite singer MR NAT KING COLE A VOICE AS SMOOTH AS SILK , he was the micheal angelo of singing he had everything charisma & that voice was just 1 of a kind that song he just sang THAT SUNDAY THAT SUMMER IS JUST BEAUTIFUL, R.I.P. NAT YOU ARE TRULY MISSED. 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎤🎤🎤🎤🎵🎵🎵🎵
hmv his masters voice there will never be a NAT KING COLE
It just doesn't get any better than Nat "King" Cole!!!
When my mom was alive, I ask her who sung this song and she told me, and she said you like that,(I was very young) and she brought it, she was so happy I liked his music. 😊😊😊
Total Class and smooth as silk. My Father's favorite, and mine of that era. Where has the music gone these days?
Thank you.. I have enjoyed this song for years and it's so nice to actually see Nat King Cole sing it. It is quite frightening to realize how many years have passed, my grandparents had all his albums and sadly he passed away in 1965. His music has brought joy to countless people for years.
Nat´s Great voice is indeed a joy to listen, and this song is one of those that are really worth to listen.
Mr Nat King Cole the finest voice of our times pure, natural and so beautiful no one is was in his class.
Whoever put thumbs down fo that beautiful Romantic love song by Nat King Cole. Needs a lesson in Romance you mustn't have a Romantic bone in your body. Probably divorced too.ho back to school and take lessons in true Romantic Love songs.
Caramia.
The voices of the background singers are just incredible, full and beautiful-Mr Nat King Cole sings this song that always remains somewhere in the back of your heart ❤️ and mind...you can hear the song clearly even when it’s not playing.
This song and singer are both truly classics.
So the song begins, and Nat King Cole starts singing, and I start crying, do I need to say anything else?
The entire broadcast (An Evening with Nat King Cole) is available here "watch?v=J1glriB54oE". For the person who asked about the accompanying singers, they're mentioned in the closing credits of the full show - The Cliff Adams Singers.
Of all the wonderful songs that Nat "King" Cole recorded, this is one of my very favorites! I still have a 45 RPM copy. For many, many years I wondered who the vocal group singing background was...finally learning (from this video) that it was the Cliff Adams Singers. This is such a beautiful and "relaxed" performance. They all seem to be looking off, as if contemplating a first time meeting of a long-ago love interest.
Wow. Them brought me here. Absolutely loving this song😍🥰
Happy Birthday Nat! You would have been 99 today! Hard to believe! You are so missed!!!! I love this song and your version of it!
Nat had an incredibly peaceful and gentle spirit one finds very rare these days...😮
What a pity this BBC show has not been repeated , I can't seem to get a DVD of it either.
So nice! I like how he "acts out the words to the lyrics," showing a genuine interest. Many times I've seen veteran artists in concert who "sleepwalk" through their biggest hits, as if they just want to get them over with. Had Mr. Cole continued performing into his 60s/70s who knows if he would have done the same, but at least here we know he wasn't!
There never will be another Nat... simply gives me cold chills
A bit of trivia- This was one of President Kennedys favorite Nat King Cole songs. This was popular the summer of 1963 and when Nat would come to the White House, the president would always request that he sing this...
That Sunday, That Summer, That SINGER!!! The great Nat King Cole.... Sing it Nat!
Such an elegant man with his deep velvet voice. Wish he were still here to warm the room and our hearts.
Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, Ray Charles, Bobby Darin---most talented singers ever.
And Matt Monro,Vic Damone, Lou Rawls,Tony Bennett,Pat Boone,Sammy Davis Jr ,Al Martino to name a few.Buble,Sheeran and Robbie Williams impostors!!!!!
This song is just beautiful, period. ❤
This is one of my father's favorite songs. Thank you for posting this performance!
When the late 1990's/early 21st century appetite for thudding bass, singers with contorted faces and meaningless drivel that masquerades as lyrics, the likes of this song, and singer, will return. I suspect it will be too late for me - but I'm happy in the knowledge that the day will surely come. Just beautiful, Nat.
I fell in love on a Sunday afternoon (around 5PM) on an early summer Sunday a long time ago ....Please remember love is fleeting and no promises are ever kept.... Live well, love strong and be honest...I wish you all...the happiest of lives and loves......
A true master of vocal and delivery.
A stunning performance with no engineering wizardry needed.
Pure majesty!
What an excellent performance! You're so used to the record, knowing every nuance so, when listening to live performances, they rarely compare but, not this one. All the loveliness shines through. This song came out when I was 14 and, it STILL gets to me. I can't stop crying.
Just absolutely magical. An all-timer. I soooo love this song.
I love this voice this song 💕
Velvety.... smooth so smooth.....
And I'm a young person..... good music has no boundaries 😊💯💕
🎶Sweet 🎶
Nat king Cole was a king
My pop-pop used to play us this song so when I heard it on them it shook me cuz I remembered this song.
A beautiful, wonderful song.....always loved this song and ofcourse Nat King Cole....what a great voice...!!
Great song; Fab singer; R.I.P. Nat.
ONE OF THE GREATEST NAT KING COLE ITS A SHAME HE DIED SO YOUNG HE LEFT US WITH A GREAT BODY OF WORK IN THE SHORT TIME HE SANG R,I,P DEAR NAT YOU WERE THE BEST.
Live orchestra, live vocal group, and live Nat ~ 1 take, fully live, and flawless. This was a different era, and a different level of talent... thank God Nat lived in a day when they could record music, so we can still enjoy it today. My wife and I met on a Summer Sunday in 1985 (at the ripe old age of 16). Married 2 Summers later, and celebrating 37 years this Summer.
Johnny Mathis once said, "The thing about Nat is, he waits, and then he sings. Then he waits, and then he sings." Couldn't put it better.
P p
Love this.
Love Nat and Johnny
That is too adorable
Exactly. So well put!
