    The last movement (Theme and variations) reminded me of the second movement of Schubert's 2nd Symphony. The complete melody is there somewhere in Tchaikovsky's counterpoint. But Schubert was writing more than thirty years later: he much admired Mozart, whose variations he may have had subconsciously in mind.

    To be honest it should have been titled Mozartiana an adaptation by P.Tchaikovsky. I didn’t think Mozart needed any promotion. 🤣🤣
