Yep, it's huge and encompassing and loved by many, yet batwoman is what gets a series on television. Warhammer 40K is another game with a massive fan base and extensive lore but little love from t.v./movie Hollywood producers.
@@cliffcampbell8827 Probably because there's no distinct "Good" or "Evil" in the world of Warhammer 40k. That makes for terrible storytelling and makes it impossible to tell a number of things. Most moviegoers want a distinct "good guy" and a distinct "bad guy". Otherwise people are left confused and are like "who the hell should I root for? Who should I care about? Why should I care for this, about this action? Where's the drama? Where's the adventure? Where's the REASON for the main character to do things?" Additionally, people tend to think rather poorly of mass genocide of completely-innocent people (AKA Exterminatus). That's usually the Big Bad Evil Guy's thing (see Star Wars and the Death Stars) - but when everyone does it, then who is the "good guy"? Here's a basic summary of Warhammer 40k in a nutshell, and what movie producers would see: Evil, racist, xenophobic mass-murderers versus even more evil, racist, xenophobic mass murderers, fighting in direct and open competition to see who can mass-murder more innocent lives and destroy more planets full of those innocent lives. if anyone ever made a Warhammer 40k movie, it would have to be rated R+ or X, and the Terran Imperium would be the Big Bad Evil Guys, lead by an Emperor who is portrayed as a combination of Hitler, Stalin, Putin and Kim Jong Ill, killing insane numbers of people for absolutely no reason whatsoever. (Which is pretty darn accurate to how the Terran Imperium actually is IG, IMHO.) However, there would likely be confusion as to who is the real BBEG until the very end (which is again, something moviegoers do not want to feel.) That kind of movie, Warhammer 40k or not, would not be profitable. (It's more likely to flood the theatre with puke, actually.) People don't want to puke, they want discernable heroes versus discernable villains. The only ones who would go see it, are fans. And that crowd is dwindling lower and lower every year. Almost nobody young, actually likes Warhammer 40k these days, and the old fanbase is nearly extinct, mostly old men in their 80s and 90s. Without new fans, a franchise dies. Grimdark is out, superheroes are in. ("Regular Old" Dark is in, too - Bayformers movies anyone? Grimdark however is so far out it's in intergalactic space.) So in conclusion, unlike Batwoman and similar stories, Warhammer 40k is not good for the movies. All that lore is useless for making movies because there's no reason for anyone to give a single drop of sludge about it. There's also no discernable good guys or bad, making it hard to follow. Additionally it's too dark for the movies; mass genocides of innocent lives will make people puke. Finally, the extremely limited fanbase means there's no reason to make a multi-million dollar high-action movie when only geriatric patients and very few youngsters will come see it. The fanbase for Warhammer 40k is dead and has been for a very long time. People want and like Batwoman. They hate and despise Warhammer 40k.
Ok, so i knew about MechWarrior series for decades now, but i got more interested in it with MW: Online (didnt really get into it but i loved the mech designs). For Years i thought that it is simple "a game with cool mechs that does not look like japanese anime desings". Then i bought turn based Battletech and i was like "Wait a minute... houses? Mercs? Dominions? Long lost empires? There is something more to it?" And then i found out that Mechs are basically a tiny fraction of the lore. And that there are some books and novels in that world. Have to read it, as basically it looks like "The Borgias", mixed with "Pillars of the Earth", with "GoT sauce" and tiny dash of Dune, all in space. Nice. And personally i got the "vibe" of the universe when i realised that those "no name cool mechs" can be ANCIENT compared to pilots piloting them and wars they take part in. Like, literally hundreds of years old. Whole generations piloted the same models. Perhaps the same machines. Hell, Atlas which is from what i get a "poster-mech" of the series is according to lore over 300 years old design, and its not even the oldest one. Catapults can be 500 years old. To put things in perspective, 500 years ago in our world, Martin Luther was walking the land, Hernan Cortez was conquering lands in Americas and the Teutonic Order still existed as a crusading order with an independent borders. Thats a VAST period of time and a vast lore.
Small correction there: Kerensky occupied the Rim Worlds and used it's factories to fill in the gaps in the weakened SLDF (the Peripehry revolt took nearly 30% of the SLDF). He even installed a new goverment but left no troops to defend it. The Rim Worlds Republic ceased to exist when the Lyran Commonwealth seized the majority of now defensless Republic (shortly after Kernsky launched Operation Cheiftain) in it's Operation Almaric. The rest of the Republic dissolved into Pirate states

I'm guessing he's using a mod that gave him access to clan tech (the ER PPCs and ER large lasers do significantly more damage than normal, the values approximate what you'd see from clan versions of those weapons.)
@@happyhammer1 From what Jordan Weissman says, he wrote battletech to be a conscious retelling of the dark/middle ages. The Star league vaguely takes the role of the roman empire, where it was a much more prosperous time than contemporary lore time, and most of the remaining powers fight each over trying to claim the prestige and power of being a star league emperor and uniting the inner sphere.

I love these videos, but the constant misuse of "whom" is a minor annoyance. If you can replace the word with “he” or “she” then you should use who. However, if you can replace it with “him” or “her,” use whom. If immediately preceded by a preposition (for/by/in etc), usually "whom" is correct.
