I work at VW and all these guys laugh when I say I’m going to buy a beetle to modify. They all drive GTIs and i just love the beetle look. I drove a 71 super beetle and it’s just what i like. Thank you for making this video to give me some guidance.
They're just a GTI in a different outfit.
Great videos guys. I bet he was SO happy with it.
When I drove away the first time after K04ing my GTI and felt all that extra torque and stronger top-end, I didn't stop smiling for days.
So happy to see you dynoing beetles!! I have a 2012 Im trying to mod, and tune.
THANKS!❤
If you have any questions, I have a 2012 turbo with a cts ko4 and supporting mods.. Sometimes it's hard navigating what will fit our beetles.. I've learned that the hard way..lol
I have the HPA KO4 hybrid with all the supporting mods (except fueping) on E20. Was happy to make 278whp at the dyno, but not as happy as I wanted to be!😂
Awesome beetle. Great video again guys. I really enjoy what you put together in these videos, much appreciated. 🇬🇧
Finally some beetle content 😌 🎉❤
Yes please more dyno. I love when you guys dyno and talk about the what’s in the car. Especially with our crap Canadian fuel.
girl brought in a beetle she bought preowned from dealer a few months old to my old shop (fourseasontuning). car only had like 50k miles, and i was wondering if it was a case that she was riding the clutch. i replaced the clutch, with oem dual mass, and oem disc/plate. let me tell you on the test drive it surprised the crap out of me, i knew it wasn't stock. it had a factory downpipe, but it had a ko4 and tune. that thing was a fun little rocket. the girl didnt know it was previously modified she was wondering why it was faster that her boyfriends mustang.
Perfect story. Lol 👍
Cool little sleeper. Had a good chuckle when you said poorsche. 🤣
Always liked how these looked
i was just bs-ing with a customer the other day about tuning his beetle, time to show him this!
Great video as always
That's badass! I've always liked the look of the beetles, but prefer the Golf platform. I see the beetle as more of a toy, where the golf provides function to go with the fun.
it'ts more fun to own GTI's in a beetle. it's a wolf in sheeps clothes, nobody expecting it. Someone in car club has 500+ WHP and is a Porsche killer (not on straights sadly) but hey!
He's currently working on a tune that get his beetle to a around 600+WHP and but he needs bigger injectors and a Low and high pressure fuel pump to able to get it with a K04 turbsky.
The reason why he's doing it is because its awesome but also his work to make videos of super cars so he had to keep up with them.
Golf is a station wagon bruh
@@jims.3987 you say that like it's a bad thing.
Bruh
I miss dyno runs. I learn seeing the problems you run into and how you fix them.
My 15 year old daughter wants one of these real bad! I have a B5 A4 1.8t, basically full bolt on + E85 and methanol. My wife drives a stage 2 B8 2.0T, plus I have another B6 1.8T... She thinks they're cute but wants it fast. When I got my B5 I was going to get one... It's fun trolling people on the highway that don't realize these cars can be pretty quick!
Nice !! Watching from Oak Cliff, TX 💪🏼
Slick looking beetle. Tornado Red? Amazing color.
I have a highly modified K04 Beetle, 2000 with the APH engine. Haven’t dynoed it yet, but would be shocked if I pulled over 300hp/tq. That’s a strong and balanced amount of power
It won't make 300whp
i'm stoked about that 2.5 turbo. wonder if it'll push TTRS numbers
excited for the cts mk6 video!
This beetle sounds crazy!!! I can only hope my GLI sounds this good
Just do a resonator delete and you will like the sound..it's alot louder than stock
@@korey420 i think i was running Vibrant UQ res and no muffler when i commented this. Running CTS turbo catback now
Thanks!
Greatly appreciated Bryan. Thanks for the support. ❤️
The next should be a Mk6 Gti with the CTS BOSS kit!
I have the ko4 upgrade on my '13 eos. It's a monster. If I smash the gas at 30-40mph it will smoke the tires. Otherwise stock
Craig Vinson get yourself a damn K04!!!
I really don’t understand why there’s so little 1.8T beetle content or beetles in general. The aftermarket definitely favors the gti/golf/Jetta etc.
I understand why, it's because they're not nearly as popular to modify compared to a GTI. I tune 100s of GTIs for every one beetle. Do it makes sense why the aftermarket supports that.
Is that a 1.8t? I didn't hear him say it.. I could be wrong but I think it's a 2.0tsi e888 Gen 1 motor
If I could fit a beetle rsi on this year that would be awesome
More beetle content
I want those wheels😍
Awesome i have a 2004 vw jetta stage 2 tune with stage 2 ecu i want to know the recomended maf to use and plugs yes it has a k04 turbo
Bkr7 plugs gapped at 28 thousands. Run the maf your car is designed for. If u mean map then a standard 3 bar should be fine for a stage 2 tune.
How many grams of air per second will this pull at that power?
That was 91? octane, right?? I don't think you guys ever mentioned it! 😂 Dyno stuff is great, but knowing how you got the results is just as important!
nobody tunes K04 car with 91 octane... it's required to have 95+ octane... stop pumping 91 in these cars it's trash your engine. especially when using a K04 + tune your engine will knock.
@@Underp4ntz_Gaming_Channel Pretty sure every tuner has a tune for 91. Only thing it will hurt is power.
Wanted an APR K04 since they were their "Stage 3" kits.
Question for you CO?
Background: Have Mk5 GTI and Mk6 R, both FSI. Will be going TTE420 on the GTI and TTE480 on the R.
The GTI is nearing 20 years old while the R is half that.
Would you recommend using the APR K04 as a starting point to upgrade to TTE or just stock K04 and upgrade?
The reason I ask is I'm wondering if it would be smarter to be able to use newer plumbing with DV reroute from the R vs. keeping the GTI DV on compressor housing and sound tube. I'd prefer to keep the plumbing stock in each.
What do you think CO?
Thanks
from friends of mine's experience with vw's, K04 or TTE420 are very similar power figures. You really only gain a little bit more overall with a tte420, but the wheel spin on a fwd car with the k04 is nuts. Friend of mine with a mk6 gti was gonna go tte480 or something and ended up staying with k04 instead
Check out the K04x from CTS! You’ll see 400hp with ease.
I have a little black Beetle that might be a laugh to show on the dyno. Stock rods so just might be a mess to clean up though. LOL
There's a cleaner up fee. 😉
What did he use to lower it
Wait a minute he's stage two and does not have the u s p traction control button... What the hell... That was the first mod I did ...
Hey boys, can you tell me if a cold air intake is necessary for a stage 2 on these tsi engines?
I had a 1.8t and everyone used to say that cold air intakes on those engines were not necessary. It became a hot air intake instead of cold. The air box on the 1.8t engines are good for 300hp. What do you guys have to say, same applies for tsi engines?
They generally help a little, and definitely help with sound.
Yes you need a racing filter and a 3" sport cat or catless downpipe with a Stage 2 tune.
👉🔝 Beetle 5c turbo ❤
What wheels are those
Unrelated, what wheels are they ? 😂
Hey guys, I'm a parts guy at VW. So I see the whole gambit of dubs come in. I have seen a couple "Dune" Beetles come in the shop. I guess they have the GTI motor. Is that the same that is in the one you dynoed?
Yes any of the 2.0T beetles are the same as the GTI.
No... the dune beetle is a gen3 motor and the one on the dyno is a Gen 1 motor
12-13 beetle turbo has the 2.0tsi e888 Gen 1
14+ has the e888 Gen 3 mqb motors
@@korey420 still same answer applies. Any 2.0t beetle is same as GTI.
@@korey420 Hi buddy. gen 1 and belt distribution of the golf 5 gti. gen 2 with chain distribution Beetle 5 c. golf 6 gti. 210 hp 👍
Porsche niece
I dont know if you have a video on common problems with each motor rg 1.8t 2.0tfsi newer ea888 2.0t gen2 gen3 differences and problems.. i think you should go thru each engine with its unique problems.. eg 2.0t fsi timming belt cars. The cam followe issue the possible balance shaft seizing problem especially if you revving to 7k and beyond. If you dont know it moves at twice the rpm of the car and is a huge reliability problem and can kill engines because it rides the same chain that drives the oil pump.
It's also why I don't belive in 10k 15k or 20k oil changes long life.. it's designed to kill your engine.. so you buy another car.. 5k oil changes is only way I go. I've seen videos of engines with long life oil changes that burn oil like crazy and its because oil wasn't changed enough.
Thanks for the suggestion, we're well aware of the oil pump issue with the FSI stuff. There's a video on the channel where one failed.
When are you guys going to do some mk5 fsi content
Just had one dropped off today. We'll likely have a video on it.
I waa under the strong assumption (from VW Vortex) that a K04 either on 1.8t or 2.0 with mainstream supporting mods would only aupport approx 240-260 whp? Maybe 20-25 lbs max boost.
But this is 300+ hp?
🤔
Completely different K04 turbo... k04 on the tsi/tfsi is completely different to the 1.8t k04 and can make alot more power. There's also kits to put the k04 064 onto the 1.8t good option if you want 350-360hp.
@Gary! Of course! 🤦♂️...I didn't even think about the K04 variations...and THANK YOU for the heads-up around the 064 option!
Yes 1.8t and 2.0t with k04s are completely different. IMO k04 one 1.8ts is a waste.
This definitive answer is very interesting. CoMotorsport runs more than 400hp on 1.8 20v with gt3071 and stock (eurodyne) ecu but claims no reason to use k04-064 with. This is really interesting.. but there's no reason why. Once they upgrade head, injectors, pump e rods they can go so far with higher numbers.. maybe they saying 2.0 tfsi engine is beefier than 1.8 20v one? Aaahhhh I do!!
Do you guys offer dyno sessions, pls send me infos.
Not sure I follow. But if you're looking to get on our dyno then yes. Email us.
What kind of boost to make that power on the EA888?
I think APR runs 22-24lbs on their ko4 file.. I'm running a cts ko4 turbo with unitronic and I max at 20lbs
Also this is a Gen 1 e888 (I think) if it's a 2012 or 2013.5 turbo then it's Gen 1 e888
The 2013-2019 2.0t are Gen 3 e888 but NON mqb platform 😢
why was it smoking?
It wasn't.
I have a 2012 beetle turbo a5 2.0 tsi fbo untronic stage 2+ ko4 tune.. ko4 is not stage 3.. stage 3 is big turbo.. ko4 is a stock R turbo.. their for its not a "big turbo"
Lol we're well aware of what a big turbo is. 😉 Also I don't believe I refer to this ever as being stage 3. However if we're getting specific APR references these files as being Stage 3 on their site, so yes it falls under that category. Stage names simply are what the company refers to them as, each have their own layout based on parts and name them how they feel. There is no written book of what stage is what. EQT, APR, Malone, IE, Uni, UM all have their own spin on it. But yes typically stage 3 is larger than OEM turbo's.

Do you guys know if there's anything you can do with a manual 2.5 beetle? I know with older Passat people used to do big turbos but I'd love to hear if adding power was something I could look into
Boost it
Always disappointed on APR tunes. Friend of mine has a 2.0t 2012 beetle with a k04 bw kit. He has IE for the tune and is making at least 30 more whp than this beetle. APR leaves a ton on the table with nearly every tune they flash it seems. I remember being told with my mk6R when I got it when I thought about retuning, nearly everyone telling me "stay UM or go IE. You'll be disappointed by APR" and they all ended up right.
Ok and I'm tuned through untronic with my ko4 and I'm around 320whp.. I chose to have a conservative tune Because I want my car to last longer... Yeah I could throw 25-28 lbs of boost but sacrifice longevity... no thanks
@@korey420 my golf R was tuned by UM in July of 2012 right to stage2+. That car dyno'd to 333whp. UM gives you the ability to change your peak boost via RossTech software. Track days, it was 28, daily driving, it was 24. Never needed more than basic maintenance
I say was because I no longer own the car. I sold it in 2020
Take it from someone who dynos lots of these cars with lots of different software companies. I completely disagree with you. I've had a lot of k04s on the dyno, with pretty much all different providers and using same fuel and on our dyno for comparison and they're all very close to each other. From the most aggressive tuned, to the most conservative. There is only so much power to be had out of a K04, or stock fuelling for that matter. The only major difference is with some of the GLIs, Beetles, and CCs they have weaker valve springs which limits top end power. Most don't know this is a thing but it's facts. Pushing those cars with weaker valve springs will just cause problems. So with that said I would take any of the major providers without thinking twice because I know how they perform. The internet scews things based on different dynos, different fuels, different correction factors etc....all that is the same for us and we see real comparisons. Take that for what it's worth.
@@COMotorsports always gonna trust actual mechanics, especially those who specialize in specific things, over anything else.
I know valve float too well. 500 abarth's suffer from it unless you upgrade the multi air brick springs
@@TechX1320 You're talking about two completely different motors...
