  • I did a surprise SEO review live, and looked at three listings. They were interesting because it showed how Etsy search is working, plus how people can still be found if they look at different niche keywords. It's also obvious that depending on what you're selling, it's hard to be found on Etsy in certain situations because of how search is working right now.
The three shops I looked at are:
    www.etsy.com/s... --Bello Glass
    www.etsy.com/s... --ShadowMyths
    www.etsy.com/s... --Holidays Lane

If my opinion counts, a very small advice for Bil. In the "ABOUT" section he has wonderful photos of baubles in wooden boxes. Maybe it's worth trying this type of product photos? And maybe not collective boxes, but small ones, for one bauble. They look beautiful to me. And they suggest purchasing it as a gift.

What's great about this video is it demonstrates how sometimes as sellers we focus so much on what we think our listings are, and we miss out on what our listings Could Be. Thank you, Kara!

I think that could definitely be categorized as a sun catcher. Why not just add in that keyword and test it out? Beautiful work by the way!

'For the red heart painting - what about putting the word "hell" somewhere, good bit of red popped out for me in the searches with similar paintings, "hell macabre painting", "hell woman painting". Also sth like "creepy Valentine painting"? -using the heart for "goth Valentine gift"? - a teen goth giving/receiving it as a Valentine gift? :)

Possibly, but since that's not really what the print is, it gets questionable.

maybe add the word "horror" somewhere in his listing for the creepy doll art.

I think he might have had that in there but I could be wrong It would be a good path to look at.

"Horror wall art" or "creepy wall art" are what I thought of when I saw that image.

Very interesting video; got my grey cells working. I didn’t realise how much colour is important in listing photos. My Etsy search stats have plummeted in recent months. I get a fair amount of my sales from repeat buyers. I sell supplies in a niche which is now very crowded, and I notice that the colour schemes, particularly among the big sellers, are very neutral and muted. My theme is very bright, pastel rainbow and blue, because it fits my product colour and my logo. I now wonder if that is harming my success in search to some extent (I am sure it isn't the only thing; my listings do need an overhaul 😮😂). Hmmm, shame, because I like my colour scheme and I don't want to be the same as everyone else. I know my products are good because my customers tell me so. Hey ho, I'm going to concentrate on off-Etsy marketing and try to finish my dang website! I want to sign up for the e-Shop programme, so don't retire just yet, Kara! I know you're starting to think about it 😢😂

Hi, I have a question about seo in my jewelry shop. Per Marmalead, there are two very good longtail keywords for a particular listing of mine with high search, high engagement and low competition. They are green agate bracelet and moss agate bracelet. Should I use those in the title or would it be better to say something like....green moss agate gemstone bracelet or something like that? Obviously, when I put the later one in marmalead, it doesn't show it being as good as the other two, but I know its bc it is more detailed. So my question is, is it better to put the more detailed one in the title even though the search doesn't show it as good as the shorter ones, but bc some of the words in it have good search results (green agate bracelet & Moss agate bracelet) it would be ok to use it? I would then put the two shorter ones in the tags. Or, would you use the shorter two in the title along with some other keyword phrases like beaded stretch gemstone bracelet, gold filled bead bracelet etc? OR I could always do green moss agate and gold filled beaded stretch gemstone bracelet. UGHHH Help! Thanks so much!!!

Put the two good ones in the title, it won’t hurt you to do that and it might help with relevance to have the exact word order match.

Hi from TaffnieVintage. Have been trying to increase sales by listing more, better s e o but there’s no momentum. I’m selling the vintage life right not really a way to focus. Feels like the algo spreads the light around like oh that shop just had a sale let’s show a different shop this time to appease and keep us listing.
? Could it be a good idea to put shop name in tags to maybe get some traction?
My sales are nice for the $ spent would like to grow a bit faster for Pete’s sake🐥
Thanks for all the valuable info💎
This video gave great perspective I always learn something even though most stuff is not relatable to selling vintage.

Vintage is different because it's a more narrow market, so it will be hard to get a lot of momentum fast. Putting your shop name in the tags won't make a difference at this point. There used to be reasons to do that but since Etsy started filling in search results that didn't have many results with things that are similar, it doesn't help anymore.
