My hopes for next year’s Halloween Strange Tales wave: Frankenstein’s Monster-head Werewolf by Night-right arm Vampire by Night-left arm Satana Hellstorm-torso N’Kantu the Living Mummy-right leg Nightmare-left leg BAF: Mephisto What’s your BAF prediction?
Truly a great lineup. Werewolf by Night is very much needed at this point. Maybe thrown in Elsa Bloodstone in there as the figure without a BAF piece since I know she needs an update.
I love the BAFs and the entire concept. I also don't mind having to buy more obscure characters to complete them because it inspires me to learn about stories I haven't read yet. That said, however, I am almost glad the number of BAF waves has been scaled back a bit. It's easier on the wallet. I like having deluxe figures as another way to get bigger characters(or BAFs that i missed), as well as retro cards for more mainstream or media specific figures. I also like 2 packs as a way to get a fan service character with a updated main character. Overall, I like that there is slightly less product this year. It makes it easier to collect all/most of what we want as well as HasLabs without breaking the bank. Too much product per year can kill a line, as it did with Star Wars 3.75". The sheer glut of product drove a lot of collectors out of the hobby, and I don't want to see that happen with Marvel Legends.
If they replaced BaFs with more accessories, I would be OK with BaFs moving to the deluxe format. TBH, I have zero interest in this wave outside of Blackheart. However, if they ditched the BaF and retained the low amount of accessories, no thank you. This is the issue a lot of the retro card figures have. No Baf and no accessories. The latest secret wars wave seems to not have this issue though.
I think them doing so many deluxe figures was probably them testing the waters to see if they could ditch bafs altogether. With this wave, the only thing that interests me is blackheart as well. I’d honestly prefer all future waves to be retro cards or stand alone figures.
I had an issue with the left arm snapping in as well. That piece that holds the arm in is too big to fit into the hole. So I filled a cup with water, heated in microwave for 2 minutes and soaked the arm in that water for 5 minutes. After that, was able to work the arm in with only a little effort needed. As for balancing, I rigged his tail to hold him up. Regarding the articulating and the spikes poking you....I used a rag in my hand to stop that.
I like build a figure concept, because that allows them produce obscure characters and still guarantee that they will sell. (assuming the baf has any demand) And I'm fine with them releasing it as a deluxe two years later. And I also do like having deluxe figures, especially those that need a decent amount of accessories to make the figure, as baf doesn't really do accessories.
I like the sculpt. The articulation however is flawed. Needs a ball joint at the base of the neck and one in the waist and base of the tail. Also why does Hasbro make the butterfly cut on the front of their figures at an angle. Just make it like a horizontal U. They did it on the back. For years now, I've only bought bafs off Ebay. The figures are too expensive to buy a whole wave and have a bunch of lacklustre figures I'm disinterested in. Conversely I don't want random parts yo a baf I don't want. Deluxe figs are the better option. Buy the ones you want.
I like the Baf. But they need to be more thoughtful on the figures they choose. This wave to me was great. I liked the midnight son’s storyline. I would still like a AOA wave. With a nemesis Baf or make one using the new hulk buster figure.
I will hopefully get this wave today so I'll have to experiment with the articulation, but it seems like they should have done both the tail and the feet the same way Neca did their Gargoyles. Base of tail should have a hinge and swivel, and the toes should also. That said, this guy isn't meant to stand with straight legs. That isn't how digitigrade legs work. Hoping I don't have to bash some new feet on this guy, but Black Series Zeb or Neca Gargoyles feet may be the way to go if I can't get him to stand.
I dont think it is economical for Hasbro to have too many BAF waves a year. They have calculated where the sweet spot is. Very rarely do you get a situation where all the figures in a wave are great. You get great, meh and peg warmers. Plus a lot of the time new moulds and tooling. Bad for business. Figures (non BAF) and deluxe figures sell well. I am not sure what the situation is with 2/3 packs. I am sure Hasbro are monitoring the data for them.
I just got the Strange Tales Damien Hellstrom a few days ago & im happy with it...& I should be getting Dracula today.. Btw you're the SECOND reviewer whos complaied about getting HURT putting together Blackheart..im starting to think you guys gotta TOUGHEN UP!😂😂 Anyways great video brother..im looking forward to more of your Marvel Legends reviews 👑
Not giving this agile character ankle pivot is a travesty. There is no reason not to include an ankle pivot other than saving some pennies for Hasbro.

I like how he looks, but I made custom using the movie venom figure and the old blackheart and he has ankle pivot lol

This is one wave you get for the BAF. Absolutely fantastic figure.

The tail is really annoying. It needed to be more bendy. You could have balanced better if it was.
I tried with heat and then posing it to my desired position and held it for about 2 mins. It stayed.
