I wish I could fully understand the verses, maybe my brain isn’t sharp enough. But it’s my first time through the Bible so I am determined to hang in there until the end, and then do it all again until I understand it better ❤

You won’t ever fully understand, He is too vast.. just keep looking for Gods character in the scriptures, and pray for wisdom knowledge and understanding. But don’t seek to understand so much. Just look for Him. When He speaks zoom in on that. When you need to know something that’s detrimental for your growth in Him, He will open your eyes and enlighten you. He promised that, If you seek Me with your whole heart you’ll find Me.

Jer 30-31 really does give “rest to the weary and joy to the sorrowing” (Jer 31:25). This is the peace we long for: “I woke up and looked around. My sleep had been very sweet” (Jer 31:26). God’s peace and comfort comes from His breaking of “the yoke from our necks and snapping our chains” (Jer 30:8). Freedom is never unfettered, though; we exchange the yoke and chains of sorrow and sin to “serve the Lord our God, and the King descended from David” (Jer 30:9), Who makes with us a New Covenant (Jer 31:31). The New Testament is prophesied in Jeremiah, and the joy of knowing Christ brings “tears of joy streaming down our faces…walking beside quiet streams on smooth paths” (Jer 31:9). Binding ourselves to the King of the New Covenant gives us the freedom of peace, joy, and the comfort of sweet rest.

The Lord continues to show that He is gracious, merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love. He punishes iniquity, but He always has a plan to redeem His people. Israel broke their covenant with God, but He provided for them to be restored back to Him. "With weeping they shall come, and with pleas for mercy I will lead them back," says the Lord. He will make them walk by brooks of water on a straight path so that they don't stumble (Jeremiah 31:9). Wow. The Lord ransomed and redeemed Jacob (31: 11). He turned their mourning into joy, comforted them, and gave them gladness for sorrow (31:13). All of chapter 31 is so good! God's goodness that He extends to Israel turns into a blessing for all nations who are willing to repent and turn to the Lord. Through Jesus Christ, we have forgiveness of our sins. Him who had no sin became sin so that we could become the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5: 21). What an awesome God we serve!
It is so true that God's wounds lead to healing. I definitely had to be broken in order to turn back to the Lord and follow Him. He's truly where the joy is!

Our God is the Lord Almighty who "appoints the sun to shine by day", "decrees the moon and stars to shine by night", and "stirs up the sea so that its waves roar"...(Jer 31:35)
Also, Jer 30:17, "I will restore you to health and heal your wounds"...I have been praying for restored health in every area, total wellness for both sides of my family. 🙏🏽

I noticed a new word to describe one of His characteristics today in chapter 31. Verses 14 & 25 uses the word SATIATES to describe His abundant blessings. The definition for SATIATE-to completely SATISFY your need; to supply to a point of excess. He ABUNDANTLY BLESSES us to a point of EXCESS! Wow! 😭❤️

Awesome job, @TaraLeighCobble - I love how you explain how you “hold your view of prophecy with an open hand”. This is a wonderful way of showing, humbly, that this is your view, and others may understand differently- and “that’s ok, we’re still friends.” Thank you for your insightful, straightforward way of explaining the Holy Scriptures!!! I’m a huge fan!!! Everyone should listen to your lessons!!!

““Is not Israel still my son, my darling child?” says the Lord. “I often have to punish him, but I still love him. That’s why I long for him and surely will have mercy on him.”
    ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭31‬:‭20‬ ‭NLT‬‬
I like this verse a lot because it is a simple reminder to me that God was not trying to punish Israel because it did something bad (similar to what happens when breaking the law) but rather punishing Israel to discipline and to teach it on how to actually act and behave (how a parent disciplines their child to teach them). We are truly the children of God, God is our father figure and we are his immature, uncontrolled, and susceptible children, however, it is through his teaching that we will grow spiritually.

My God shot today comes from Jeremiah 30:11. In this passage, God says “I am with you, and will save you. Though I completely destroy all the nations among which I scatter you, I will not completely destroy you. I will discipline you, but only in due measure; I will not let you go entirely unpunished.” In my study Bible, which is “The Woman’s Study Bible,” there is commentary for this verses that explains this pretty well: “God‘s discipline of his covenant people is not like his judgment on those outside his covenantal protection. Rather the discipline is designed for correction. It is a mark of Sonship and an act of love. See Proverbs 3:11-12.” These verses in Proverbs say, “My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline, and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.” When the Lord disciplines or rebukes us, it is because He loves us as a father loves his son.

    ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭30:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬
[8] For it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him:

    ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭31:33‭-‬37‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
[33] But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. [34] No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.” [35] Thus says the Lord, Who gives the sun for a light by day, The ordinances of the moon and the stars for a light by night, Who disturbs the sea, And its waves roar (The Lord of hosts is His name): [36] “If those ordinances depart From before Me, says the Lord, Then the seed of Israel shall also cease From being a nation before Me forever.” [37] Thus says the Lord: “If heaven above can be measured, And the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel For all that they have done, says the Lord.

I have a question. The last line in Jeremiah 31:22 for the LORD hath created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man. King James
The Lord will create a new thing on earth-- the woman will return to the man. NIV
The Lord will create a new thing on earth-- the woman will protect the man

In the Enduring Word commentary by David Guzik, he says this about Jeremiah 31:22; "The best sense of this difficult phrase is that it is a promise that Israel would be so blessed and secure in God’s restoration that even the women among them could protect the men and the people as a whole."
      Also, the NLT version reads,
22 How long will you wander,
      my wayward daughter?
For the LORD will cause something new to happen-
      Israel will embrace her God.

      @Jennifer13515 Рік тому +1

I have no idea of the correct meaning either but this was interesting what one of my study Bible had to say
“Most contemporary Bible teachers understand the passage to mean that Israel, contrary to the practice of women, will woo the Lord, her divine husband. Older expositors almost unanimously took the verse to predict the Virgin birth of the Messiah. Their arguments are:
      1. The “new thing on earth” would require an event of unprecedented character
      2. The word “create” implies an act of divine power
      3. The term “woman” demands an individual rather than the entire nation
      4. The word “man” is properly used of God (Isaiah 9:6)
