There are serious food shortages on the way, the US media has been warning about it for weeks and here in the UK there is discussion about using the army to guard supermarkets.
I planted a Purple Russian tomato. It produced heavily but the bugs got to them before i could. It held up well to the heat in the US. The sizes and shapes were just like yours.
If you have lots of green tomatoes left at the end, try making pickled green tomatoes. My French grand-mère made the tastiest pickled green tomatoes, such a treat.
Tomatoes for me is not easy to grow here in Scotland because the temperature but you guys have an amazing forest there. Nice one!!! BTW, James, I like your long hair style 😊
I am getting a greenhouse next year.. Cross my fingers :P I have two 45 foot beds of tomatoes outside but the humidity and the cold are killing them off slowly. Lots of green tomatoes to bring inside over the next few days.
I do keep trying different tomato varieties although tend to go for smaller ones case be the season is poor in terms of sunshine as they ripen quicker. Gardeners delight is probably the largest variety that I grow now (I'm not a big fan of green tomatoes). Greenhouse tomatoes were better than the polytunnel this year, possibly because we didn't have a very warm July here in Nairn
Something that you can do with the string is to bury one end under the plant when you transplant it by tying a loop loosly around the rootball and the roots will grow through it securing it into the ground.
We have grown 'Heinz' tomatoes this year, and although they are very tasty, they are very slow to ripen. Will they ripen in a dark drawer, as my old gran used to say?' Also, I noticed you de-leafed some of your tomato plants and wonder whether it is ok to do that with French bean plants, without detriment too please?
Hiya, don't if this helps but the Canadian agricultural ministry tells their commercial growers to keep their transplants at a minimum of 10c, below that temp and you lose vigour and fruit quantity. They grow like weeds, so putting them out late isn't the worst approach. Have you guys turned into Craig lehoullier and his book Epic Tomatoes, his dense seedling method has a lot going for it. He's quite happy to share seed.
rosea you mentioned a tomato you planted outside i think you called it letar can you correct my spelling cause i cant find it on the internet cheers from ireland
unfortunately my outdoor tomatoes look like they have blight - most leaves curled and brown and seems to have spread to the stems as in the video at www.gardenersworld.com/how-to/solve-problems/tomato-blight/ There was some quite humid weather in August where I am. The greenhouse ones are ok I think, some beefsteak tomatoes but not quite ripe yet.
Wow, so many things to remember and do, and that's just the tomatoes!

Your cat is the Tap o' Noth Farm cheerleader!!! Beautifying farm situations in the polytunnel and gardens w/its sultry walk. What is its name?
He really is! Morris!!
Growing tomatoes in Inverurie but slow to ripen this year. Smaller varieties do better. Lots of green tomato chutney this year for me!
Our cat has exactly the same Markings lol garden protector lol
Bonita plantação, qual segredo?
So much great information - thank you👍Do you secure the string to the bottom of the plants or to pegs in the soil? What sort of string?
Something that you can do with the string is to bury one end under the plant when you transplant it by tying a loop loosly around the rootball and the roots will grow through it securing it into the ground.

Well done.
Was this different than the similar video from the other day? Déjà vu?
It was the full length video that we had to edit into the vlog :)

Hi there! Thanks for that, will check out book you mentioned .
Isn't determinate tomatoes an idea for the wall beds as determinate tomato plants are shorter by nature?
rosea you mentioned a tomato you planted outside i think you called it letar can you correct my spelling cause i cant find it on the internet cheers from ireland
It will be Latah from Real Seeds.
Oxheart? Or what cultivars?
Hi, Rosa does go through which varieties we were growing.
depending on your soil you may also benefit from using ceramic as irrigation
