Thanks brother. I’ve decided that my strategy in the F4 is: 1. Go into the vertical if at all possible 2. Maintain visual at all costs 3. Roll stab aug off 4. Rudder into nose down attitude to regain speed post-vertical 5. Full burner to 450ish 6. Push 2 circle by pulling hard enough to oscillate airspeed between 425-450 7. Hold it 8. Try to maintain a slight altitude advantage which (hopefully) prevents an attempted reversal but if not, should give me a quick snapshot opportunity as the bandit reverses and cross my nose… If I don’t have a good shot, stay patient and keep rating and find their high six when I come back around… 9. Stay patient All of the above while trying to end the fight fast enough before I drain fuel…. It’s a fine line to walk but it seems ~75% of the time those are the checklist items that lead to a successful engagement.
Just a heads up, AI in DCS literally cheats in dogfights, the flight models are busted. You're better off going to DCS dogfighters or the like and flying there if you want to improve your flying. Cool vid though, phantom gameplay is always cool.
Yea, completely agree. If I wasn’t so strapped for time and had someone consistent to practice with I’d be all about it. I’m able to hop in for super short 30 minute sessions right now so waiting for a matchup is sometimes a bit rough. Also finding someone wanting to fight in an era appropriate airframe for the F4 can be a bit challenging sometimes, too. It may just be the times I’m able to fly. When I’ve been on the server in the past, it’s been a blast!
