The lyrics of this song resonate with me so much. I have been going through a tough time with my wife and I want so badly to be her hero and save her, but the reality that I am facing is that she needs to want to save herself first before I can be her hero. I want it so badly but it cant happen until she wants it.
I know what you are going through is painfully hard and that all you want is for everything to work out for the best. Sometimes, the best way to be a hero is just to be with the person and walk with them as they try to figure out the difficult stuff they are going through. It is so easy to feel alone when you are going through a rough patch in life. You being there with her and for her every step of the way while she fights her battle is an incredible gift. Have faith and hope. Both of you will be ok.
I know the feeling brother, when you want to be someone’s hero more than anything but they won’t or can’t accept that, and they won’t let you be that hero for them, it’s the hardest thing to do sometimes

Hero complex is tough. Wanting to save someone is an instinct that we give in to even if that someone doesn't need it. Not everyone needs saving. This song is absolutely incredible.
Edit: you don't need to save someone to have a relationship with them. A relationship is built on trust and acceptance and being supportive by being there to help them save themselves. ~nya
