Season 7 with Orbac Bratt and Lowell was good. So was season 9 with Angie Harmon. They went 3 for 3 with the ADA role. After that not so much.

Briscoe and Green had great chemistry. Those years were my favorites. McCoy was a great character...I also enjoyed Elisabeth Rohm's character.
It took me a while to warm up to Sam Waterston after Michael Moriarty left. But I did.
I always preferred the Briscoe and Green team. Awesome chemistry!

I liked every cast member. They all had their own unique way of approaching their characters and the storylines. I miss the show with new episodes but I get some of the old episodes on ION. They also show SVU.
It's spooky how in the earlier seasons, L&O series veterans seem to get "tried out" as guest stars, such as Epatha Merkerson as a cleaning woman (and the only time we'll see her natural hair for many years), Jerry Orbach as an attorney, Courtney Vance as an arrogant investor and murderer, Tamara Tunie as an attorney, and Diane Neal on an SVU episode on trial with a group of her friends for raping a male stripper and murdering a friend. As for Orbach, you could really feel for him and his pain during the first two episodes of Law and Order: Trial By Jury. RIP, Jerry.
I remember seeing the snippet of Orbach as an attorney; I was like "why is Briscoe acting like a lawyer?".
That's nothing compared to the famous faces who have had at least one guest appearance on a L&O franchise show. Sometimes, the good ones have played multiple characters.
@@fromthehaven94 Julia Roberts when she was the biggest female movie star at the time making a guest appearance, but that was probably because she was dating Bratt at the time.
Orbach played a "protected" wise guy informant in the 1986 movie "FX" with Aussie Bryan Brown and veteran actor Brian Dennehy. Great film.
Briscoe and Curtis for me. Green comes in very close. Schiff as DA, McCoy and Carmichael and Van Buren all do the trick. Greevey and Stone are also some personal faves.

I think The best team was Lennie Briscoe, Ed Green, Anita Van Buren, Jack McCoy, Abbie Carmichael and Nora Lewin (although Elisabeth Röhm did a good job [in place of Angie Harmon] as A.D.A. Serena Southerlyn
Jeffrey Bach my fav two investigators is def Jack McCoy and Abbie Carmichael but to me I didn’t like when they promoter Jack. The new guy was kinda bleh

Michael Moriarty was always my favorite Assistant DA. Mcoy while entertaining was to over the top to my liking.
Man, it's like each season there were changes. But it was a hard show to do.
Hill, Moriarty and Dzundza were the BEST actors ever on this show.

I'll give a shoutout to Hennessey and Noth. They were both young and beautiful, but I thought convincing in their roles--surpringly so I thought for such pretty people. Moriarty was my single favorite actor on the entire series.
Moriarty by far was my favorite, I liked Harmon as well.
I read that Dzundza left because he found out that he wouldn’t be the one lead character of the show. Great actor. But very bad move!
For me, the show starting going downhill when Lenny Briscoe retired.

Basically...but I still liked it later with Jesse L. Martin as Green. He had some good team ups like Sontana and Cassidy. Also I liked Jeremy Sisto. Not to hate too much, but the detectives they had at the very end were meh IMO.

Lennie Briscoe best det, and best attorney gotta be 'Hang em High' McCoy 😄 I also really liked Angie Harmon as ADA, and Jesse L. Martin and Milena Govich (even tho she only had one season) as honorable mentions.
I love Elizabeth Rohm ADA and Angie Harmon as well. I love Serena's fearless and Carmichael's funny disbelief look at the accused.
dang so law and order has never let one character get bigger than the show its self seems like almost everybody has been replaced besides Munch the only one who has been in every law and order show since day one

No one was on the show from beginning to end, i think Lt. Van Buren had the longest run

well Mariska Hargitay never got replaced and SVU is in it's 20th season now (just as many as the original Law and Order when canceled) although that is SVU not the original

Anthony Anderson came in at Season 18, so technically he should have been included in the Season 18 change, leaving Seasons 19 and 20 without any changes, which is a breath of fresh air. The show never went two seasons without a change. Damn Jesse for leaving! Had he stuck around those last two seasons, the show could have had three years without a change!

for some reason I preferred Cragen in SVU
Seasons 1-5 were my fave but I enjoyed the dynamic between Martin and Orbach for their seasons but besides them I didn't enjoy the show as much, Denis Farina was fun tho as a partner
Logan and Briiscoe were gold ,closely Briscoe and Green .The show never recovered to the actor playing Briscoe died from pancreas cancer .He made the show .
I believe I lost contact with the show after Jerry passed.
They did a Ln O in England. I watched a season of it. Not bad. It's interesting how often they refer to CCTV in public places.😰

Oh, so finally in season 14 there were no cast changes! They probably partied over that!
No changes in Season 8 as far as any main characters are concerned. The uploader did not need to include those recurring characters. I'm surprised they didn't include McCormick in Seasons 3-4 because she was a regular then. Seasons 19 and 20 didn't have casting changes either. Anthony Anderson had already taken over Jesse's spit in S18 in the last bit of episodes. Season 21 would have had one because Merkerson was calling it quits by then but the show got cancelled.
A great series to be sure. Tons of fantastic twisting episodes. I did like ADA Jack McCoy I recall one where the ADA, played by Annie Parisse, was abducted and murdered in the show. Later to be found in a car trunk by the detectives with Jack along. I thought that was pretty powerful stuff for TV and I loved it! A relevant show for 20 years and there is still a last spin off with Mariska Hargitay.
The other Law and Order shows are the same way.

I’m trying to remember the name of my favorite episode of Law and Order, but it is just not coming to me. I hope someone can help me out. I believe it was in either season 11 or 12, when Dianne Weist played DA Nora Lewin. It was a case where a schoolgirl was found dead in an apartment laundry room, and the killer was the popular cheerleader girl at the school they attended, and she accused of being a lesbian, kept denying it until McCoy says during a trial they’re would be the support groups on the steps and was too scared to go through with the trial and took a deal. If anyone knows the name of that episode and what season it is from, please reply and let me know! It would be greatly appreciated!

@@video2000ification No doubt. This might sound weird, but that photo of Orbach helped me connect to his character. Also Waterston and Merkerson's photos are memorable in their own right, especially Waterston's first photo.

It was cancelled - they were set for a record-breaking season 21 - but at the last minute the whole deal fell apart

But that season's finale, in an episode where Lupo and Bernard confront a disgruntled teacher, Van Buren gets some good news during a party in her honor. And that's how the original Law & Order ended.

I was a big Jill Hennessy fan. Not because of her looks--though they were great--but because I thought she was really convincing in the role. Have you seen her lately?! She looks even better now! The show, I thought, was great though all the 90s, declined in the early 00s, then had a rebound the last 5 years. And am I alone in thinking Waterston outstayed his welcome?

What's interesting to me is the contrast between how extremely well L&O handles some characters, and yet how poorly they handle others. How is a talented actor/actress supposed to succeed when their character is so poorly written? Successful characters are given a full range of emotions, whereas failed characters seem to just be angry all the time.

@@billobong9792 Yes, an example is Milena Govich... if you look at her other work, she's 100% the opposite of her L&O character. They used about 1% of her range on L&O.

Why was this amazing show cancelled?
It got too expensive to produce - the network only wanted to renew the show for only 8 episodes - the producers were pushing for the full 22 episode order. They couldn't meet half-way so the whole deal fell apart.
Good news, it's going to return for season 21.
