Why do interviewers find it necessary to ask a question and then clarify it in 10 different ways before they let someone answer? So annoying. That’s why I like Joy Reid. She asks the question and then immediately allows the person to answer.

I agree with you in part, the two-party system is extremely flawed. I think a discourse system where we hear candidates' ideas for solving problems, we get to review their voting record if they have one of any kind, and we have chance to find out why they voted yes or no on legislation that seems counter-intuitive to their position (sometimes there are legitimate reasons). No parties, a cap on campaign spending that makes sense (millions and hundreds of millions of dollars does not make sense), and hearing from people who are interested in being civil servants in order to engage in problem solving and moving our country forward /where science and critical thinking matter more than religious dogma or the concerns of lobbies. Not where advancing their own power or wealth or that of their cronies are the main focus, and not where their aim is to obstruct or keep score the way the republican party has been doing.

BEWARE first home buyer's grants! We've had them in Australia for over 20 years. The payments are simply absorbed by realtors increasing house prices and the added effect is to increase demand which, guess what, leads to price increases. Housing here is at record levels of unaffordability, largely because of first home buyer's grants.

@@carsonmcmahon8830 No, what happens is that a lot more buyers are able to enter into the market because of the payments, and this creates increased demand. Realtors respond by increasing house prices (for everyone) which effectively nullifies any benefit from the first homebuyers payments and pushes prices even higher. Next is speculation in which property investors who have the means can afford to buy at higher prices and these homes become rentals which reduces supply of homes for owner occupiers. Reduced supply and higher demand. Guess what that does. Here in Australia we're still watching the bubble expand and yet to see the downstraem effects. But we have a massive housing crisis and even rentals are becoming unaffordable
@@marcusb4995 so one part was the help with the down payment, but paired with the incentives for home builders to increase supply, I think that is much less risky. Additionally, post pandemic, the buying of homes built as single family dwellings by hedge funds which then act as landlords is the major factor in home pricing in the US. Using the first time buyers to squeeze those wealth funds out of the market would, at least temporarily, depreciate home prices to near 2018 pricing.. Coupled with scheduled reductions in the prime rate that occurs over the next 2 years, that protects individual owners as well as offers entry to ownership for 1 million Americans. In America, home ownership is the single most powerful vehicle for building wealth for retirement savings.
