Obviously just an accident that it failed to make it into the terms and conditions. But it's hardly an 'asshole' practice. If you're going to moan about something that's anti consumer, make sure it is actually anti consumer
RETCXN Pretty much every “all you can eat” is limited to within the bounds of the restaurant. They may not have felt it was necessary because it’s a common rule across restaurants.

I’m normally on the side of the show but I think it’s pretty fair to pay a tenner and eat as much as you like while you’re there. Doesn’t really seem like an injustice to not want customers to fill boxes. (Also yes I get this is a comedy bit)
It's on the restaurant to set out proper terms and conditions of the buffet.

The injustice is enforcing a rule that doesn’t exist….like Pizza Hut did.
Yeah they have that system in place for a reason to prevent people just pocketing food.
But it ain't in their Terms and Conditions so the legally can't do that unfortunately

Ronan Gray Yes they can. No court would say that it isn’t an implied term that you can’t start your own business off the back of the buffett or take unlimited amounts home. You can’t always claim that something is permitted simply because it isn’t explicitly prohibited by the terms and conditions.
@@ronangray1250 it also isn't in their terms and conditions that you can't eat their staff, I checked. But you can't do that either. It's their business and they can just refuse to serve as the chequered shirt guy did in the end after being patient.

Emily Grace That probably isn’t true. Staff is responsible for their customers and if the situation is improperly handled by staff, they can get penalized for it.

Would much prefer this program to take on actual consumer issues, with the normal good humour of this program. Much better than winding up hard-working staff for no good reason like in this case

Man this comment section is garbage. I think some of the audience raised from the other content forget that sometimes a comedy show just wants to have fun.
At the expense of a franchise? Not all Pizza Hut's are owned by Pizza Hut. So the franchises have to make money to survive/pay their staff etc.
Ok, so they missed out the small print about it needing to be consumed on site..but to me that just makes sense. Unlike the other pranks and investigations which were to tackle actual consumer issues such as being ripped off or given poor service, this just seems to be exposing some sort of loophole to make them look stupid. Bit unfair on the Hut.
Fun experiment, I guess, but could have been done on an establishment who are maybe known to actually limit their "all you can eat" customers a la that seafood restaurant in The Simpsons which Homer sues (or tries to..I can't remember..)
I mean, it's pretty obvious that this sketch was just them taking the piss. Anyone who took it seriously needs to lighten up...

If it was the other way round though companies like this are more than happy to slam their T&C's into your face when you may otherwise not notice them.
Fair game in my opinion.
Don't forget that these places have a paid legal team in place that make these T&C's, unlike the general person on the street that doesn't have one just to be able to read them sometimes 😁
(Thinking they picked pizza hut because the other restaurants probably have stronger T&C's in place already)

Honestly if you work for Pizza Hut, unless your boss sees this happen with their own eyes, or you are the manager/owner, then just ignore it.
There's no need to be the enforcer for a billion dollar corporation. Pizza hut corp will not miss those slices of pizza, they waste *huge* amounts of buffet food every day.
I think if people knew the mark up Pizza Hut put on their pizzas when they sell to customers, they would freak the heck out! 😅
Usually such a big fan on this show..... But i'm actually a bigger fan of Pizza Hut's all you can eat buffet, as a poor student it really helped me get a lot for very cheap, and while this is amusing, I hope you guys apologised because the staff seemed very nice and polite. Unlike the actual mean businesses you usually prank. Not saying Pizza Hut is an amazing business but this seem a little more malicious than usual? I know it's really just harmless fun as you're definitely allowed to do what you did to show them a flaw with their model, but I just think it was a little redundant.... Still love you Joe and Mark

Tbh, this isn't about "Having Your Back" but "Taking the Mick" and yeah, Pizza Hut don't explicitly have it in T&Cs, but hopefully any reasonable person wouldn't think this is okay.
They legally aren't allowed to add extra charges if they ain't listed in the terms and conditions breaking your consumer rights. Also I'm sure if you got 8 slices and ate only 6 I'm sure they'd rather you take it away and have less food waste
But it does say that the Restaurants can amend the offer at any time.
Not only this but the takeaway option for the buffet is listed as £4.99 for 4 slices, indicating that if you want to have it outside the restaurant those are the prices to pay.
Last time I went to the Pizza Hut buffet they actually gave us boxes to load up with pizza as it was near the end so we left with shed loads of pizza.

This reminds me of a story my dad told me when he used to play rugby. My dad and three of his friends went to Pizza Hut after a game but proceeded to get kicked out of the restaurant for eating too much at the all you can eat buffet 😂 Got through about 12 pizzas together not including the salad haha!

We had all you can eat pizza huts in Australia. Not sure why they closed down, but might have something to do with the whole footy team eating about $10k worth of food every weekend for only $5.95 each lol.

my nearest pizza place is unfortunately bloody dominoes but I do have a pizza hut around 10 times further away, I still prefer to drive to pizza hut to collect my pre ordered pizza as its way way better quality. since the first and only time I used dominoes pizza for my collection the pizza was over cooked (burned) and I've never used it again after speaking with neighbours who all have had quality issues with them at dominoes. they all prefer to drive to pizza hut to collect their pizzas. (we are outside delivery distance for both pizza places).
I got asked to leave a pizza hut all you can eat buffer after only half an hour.
I grew up poor. This was just an average Tuesday in my house haha. My mum stuffed as much food in containers as she could.

My cousin and I were at a pizza place for their buffet, it was just $4.99 each and only available during lunch hours. But anyhow, we ate well, like two whole pizzas honestly. But we had like 4 slices of pizza and like 2 cinnamon slices leftover and our drinks of course. I asked the employee at the buffet if I can take my leftovers home and she had no problem giving me a little box to do so, and she allowed us to get a refill on our drinks before leaving as well.
Now I'd totally understand if you were at a buffet and just grabbing more and more food to take home.. However if you had just ate, got full and had a few slices leftover but couldn't finish, why wouldn't they let you take what you had on your plate home? They sure as heck can't put it back into the buffet.. so it's likely just going into the bin anyhow.
That also kind of reminds me of a different restaurant I went to with a client I took care of, I worked with people with mental disabilities. Anyhow, we went to a buffet, we got our food, sat down and were about to eat and quickly a employee came over and said he can't have that crab leg, it is not apart of the buffet menu(even though they were among the food apart of the buffet menu) and I said I would pay for it, and he said no he can't do that and he demanded the crab leg back and he took it and he went right to the bin, looked back at us and threw it away.
That made my blood boil, but I was with my client so I quickly calmed myself and just made sure my client was alright, he was fine, just sad, but he wanted to finish eating so we did. I was doing stuff to cheer him up, making jokes about the employee(stuff like is he going to take my underwear next geez, maybe the ice from our drinks, etc), talking about games he likes, celebrities he likes, etc. And as we were leaving, the greeter stopped us and she apologized for his behavior and said she wasn't sure why he didn't let me pay for it as that would have been fine. I thanked her and she gave my client a hug, which made him really happy. 😁

I think most people don't need to be told it's what you eat there, not to take home on top of stuffing your gut to the brim with too much food, maybe Pizza Hut needs to add that in big print for those who want are to take the Mickey by claiming not to know something that is simple common sense to most of us. Usually I like most of Joe's video's but this one annoys me because it's not addressing a real problem. Credit to the staff who had more patience than I would have with someone being so unreasonable. Goes to prove the customer is NOT always right!!!!

There's a lot of hate for what this really is, but in the end Pizza Hut is making money and has been shown a flaw in their system from this so, while it is more unnecessary than most of these episodes, it's still there to benefit all parties.

This is kinda disappointing from a show that usually does so much good. Not being able to take home as much pizza as you like to sell for profit doesn't become a consumer issue, simply because the T&Cs dont state it explicitly. All you've done is make a worker's life difficult for no reason.

I went to Pizza Hut when I was a teenager...about 13 years ago with my brother and 2 of our friends. My brothers friend grabbed a full Pepperoni Pizza and a woman moaned at him for taking the whole thing...he just replied with ‘it’s all you can eat ain’t it’ I was crying 😂

Normally I like these videos but to promote something like this (I realize they dont tell you to so it but its still promoting it somewhat) is really bad IMO. as someone who has worked in an all you can eat, yours be surprised at the amount of pigs who come in and think it's fine to overstack that last plate like there literally is no tomorrow and then try to get it home with them. I've even told family to fuck off when they have tried it.
It’s all you can eat, not all you can eat plus however many boxes you can fill for later. This isn’t an issue.
I thought putting this girl who is probably on minimum wage through this confrontation and stress and for what a joke was not nice.
Ah the classic old, "the contract doesn't specifically state in those exact words that I'm not allowed to ____ so therefore I am allowed," excuse. It doesn't hold up because there are broader terms that cover these matters. I could claim that the T+C of Harrods doesn't specifically state I'm not allowed to take a handbag into the changing room, shit in the bag then put it back on the shelf. However I would have no legal defence if I did and got banned from the shop because
a) It's common sense that wouldn't be allowed and
b) The rule stating that "customers must behave in a respectful and hygienic manner at all times" covers that.
In this case Pizza Hut could easily claim his actions fell outside their offer of "all you can eat" because he wasn't eating all he took so he was clearly taking MORE than he could eat.
Finally, even if he were to mount a case like Homer Simpson and the seafood restaurant, it would all be for practically nothing as all he would get would be his £8 back and the wider effect may be that Pizza Hut withdraw this promotion so he would just annoy all his fat friends.
You could have lunch when it opened and then go on a phone or a lap top until dinner time and have two meals for free!

People like me go in, pay a tenner, and eat about £3 worth of food (at "cost to them" price) and leave. I can't even eat a whole pizza (Dominos, Pizza GoGo, Pizza Hut) etc in one sitting, i'll have to come "back to it" later on.
i normally like Joe Lycett's got your back but this one was just being mean to employes and trying to push there buttons... they normally go after corrupt businesses but they just didn't do there research as another commenter said its in the fine print. i dont think im gonna watch this show now if they think this is what we used to watch and enjoy

I just think messing with people whilst they are working isn't very fair. This show usually tackles scammers and I usually find it funny. But deliberately trying to waste food, Seems like he was trying to provoke the staff. They are just doing what they have been taught.
