@David-js4ib true, initially I used to respect people who work very hard and stay late nights to finish their job and make their boss happy. This is very common in IT industry as this is the only way to go up the ladder. You realise at a later stage that your family is more important, not the crazy deadlines set by the manager. We need to be realistic, sometimes it becomes too late

It's not only in India , I have experienced the same kind of situation from a Malayali manager in UAE. Bullying, forcing to stay longer ,put duty after office hours extend up to 12;30 am . Then, scheduling duty on holidays .If we deny the late work schedule ,he used to issue Memo, and if I react, he was threatening to terminate from the job. I went through severe depression,anxiety attacks, and digestive problems because of this kind of harassment . 14 years I have suffered and now left that job.

good decision. u suffered enough. This happens in most of the Asian countries. My experience of working in Singapore was the same. Managers prefer mostly male employees in projects as they can stay back in the evening, work long hours, does not take sick leave every month etc. In most of the banks, you will find only men in the IT departments. To be honest, this culture was created by the same Indians due to their greed for promotion and recognition. Local employees are more family oriented and leave office by 6pm.

I always thought I was not fit for the job.. and even I can’t find another.. fortunately my brother supported me and I quit the job. Very very sad. Heart wrenching to see the loss of such a young child. My son too was stuck in E&Y working from morning to midnight during COVID with no time for themselves. I convinced him to quit. The smart ones were pushed to make up for the lazy ones. Very wrong strategy. The same words that its a great company drives these kids to exhaustion. The ones that don't perform get away at the cost of these bright, sincere kids.
