Thanks for the review, I have many 5 strings basses but I don't have a 5 stings music man, I am going to pick up one.
who knew john malkovich was killing on bass?!! nice video
Thanks! :)
Jon Gallant of Billy Talent plays a Stingray finger style! One of the tightest drummer/bassist ever!
I love Billy Talent :)
I played one of these for a year. They sound especially well with an Ampeg SVT3 PRO.
It was my main bass for years...
with a Mesa 400+ and an Ampeg 8x10 :)
Killer presentation man😎🤘. I own the 4 and 5 string double hum stealth from that era. Just bought the 4 and 5 string snowy night single hum.
Thanks! And very cool purchases there, too :)
@@DaveOnBass tenx man, I had to send the 5-string back it had a serious dent on the heastock🥺. Took a Spector Skylar Acord sig. Spector 5 'string in return which is also an awesome axe. Korean made but great bang for the buck the Music man prices are going bananas these days and they dont even give you the hard case with it anymore
what a shame they don't do these with 24 frets.... I am thinking about one H or HH. I don't like so many options for HH shiiit 6 positions. I cant never pickup the sound. I like the parallel settings for pickup in this MM
Couldn't hear any difference. But likely because I'm listening on my phone.
Nice demo, but you never used the b string (frustratingly, most people demoing this bass don’t), and that’s the very reason I search for videos of this bass - I want to hear that b string.
Great B string, but I no longer own this bass so keep looking. There were a couple reviews I did when I first started doing them that I overlooked the B - I don’t ever do it anymore. Always gets pointed out by someone. Kinda can’t believe I missed it, but I guess I did - doh! 😖
So what ones have the 3 way switch and ceramic pickups? Great review!!
Looks like they used ceramic pickups from 1991-2008: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_Man_StingRay_5
@@DaveOnBass awesome thanks!!
@@DaveOnBass so yours has the alinico pickup? I want one with the 3 way and ceramic
@@bassimprovjams3772 Probably based on the info above.
I had never heard of Billy Talent. You're right- the bass tone is KILLER on III. Do you ever have trouble with the G string slippage due to it being so close to the edge of the frets or do you just have good technique?
Never had an issue at all with that 👍
Peter Hook of New Order used a stingray in the late 80’s to mid 90’s. Always complained that it never stayed in tune.
Huh. I've never had any problems with that.
Dave On Bass would it be because of the tuning. EADGB would’ve been his tuning. To me EADGB is more efficient for me than BEADG.
@@22013 maybe. I've always used BEADG on my 5's
Dave On Bass oh okay. It it can be done, tuning it to EADGB on this bass yes?
@@22013 you would at least need a different set of strings, maybe even a nut adjustment. Do NOT tune a 130 gauge string up to E please!
