I'm 100% on the Velvet side for this one. Yeah, the chorus was a bit more poppy than the R&B/trap beats in the rest of the song, but I still felt that Velvet swag behind the chorus the whole time. This is actually the title track for their first full Japanese album, "Bloom". Honestly, it's more of a hefty repackage than an all new album. It contains "Wildside", four other new songs, and the contents of their two Japanese mini-albums. No complaining from my end. I like all of the Japanese stuff so I'm down. Fun story, this was actually supposed to come out in February. I think there was a delay with album manufacturing end or something like that. Pushed back the entire Japanese release, thus providing us with this tasty double comeback. Lured a bunch of new folks in with "Feel My Rhythm" just to punch them in the face with "Wildside". 😂
If you haven't listened to the rest of "The Reve Festival 2022" with "Feel My Rhythm", you most definitely need to. Amazing album. All of the B-sides are bops. Completely different vibes from one another, as you'd expect with Red Velvet, but all of them are bangers. They actually do a lot more of that rapping/high-cadence singing that you pointed out this time around. It sounds amazing, but it was definitely a noticeable amount compared to their previous albums. I tell myself that they are like, "We're going on 8 years. Fuck it. Everyone do all of the things." 😂 If nothing else, it is IMPERATIVE that you listen to "Beg for Me". It's ridiculously good and you'll get a good laugh out of some of the lyrics. Seriously though, music helps me zone out on work stuff and I had "Beg for Me" on loop for, like, 5 hours or something like that. 😂
