LYRICS :
[Intro]
I'm surprised I'm still standin' right here
I was livin' in a nightmare
Never be able to breathe again
[Verse 1]
First off
I ain't in this for the Dead Presidents
The nice whips fly chicks or gold necklaces
I do this in hopes that my Auntie gets off of the pipe
N the small chance of possibly changing a persons life
I wanna make things right
These kids need some guidance
This generations lullaby is gunshots n sirens
I'm here to make a difference fuck the code of the streets
I refuse to be a victim to my own self-defeat
Don't let em' get you trapped
Cuz there's only 2 places that you'll end up
N I'm pretty sure you know just where that's at
Fuck the fame, fuck the money, fuck gettin' put on the map
I'm just trynna come together
Brown, White, Yellow, Black
It don't matter what color
N before you put that bullet in his head
Just make sure you think of his mother
And his little sister cryin' when they see him at his funeral
But in the streets, I guess that's business as usual
[Hook]
And I took so many chances in my life
I'm surprised I'm still standing right here
I never thought I'll make it yo
Just a couple of years ago, I was living in a nightmare
Knife in my chest, Knife in my back
Never thought I'll be able to breathe again
But now I know I'm here for a reason but
I just don't think this muthaf's see it yet
I just don't think these muthaf's see it yet
[Verse 2]
I don't write music to convince you to believe in me
I write music to convince you to believe in you
Stay positive, keep smiling, and one day you’ll see
Anything is possible & you could make your dreams come true
This is for the Kids that past before they had a chance to live
Their memories live on throughout my words
And If I had to give my life so you could hold the ones you lost
And hear them laugh again, I would do it in a second
All I ask is this when I'm gone remember
All I ever wanted was to make a difference
Pray my sister graduates, I hate to miss it
But if my time comes you won't hear me complain
But since we still here let me speak to you
So just press play n listen
If I ever made a million dollars
I'll create a program to help these kids get into college
Even tho my ass didn't pass the 11th grade
Momma is still proud and that's all that matters for heaven's sake
I let the haters hate, cuz my family will always love me
Nothing left to say didn't make it here by getting lucky
I'm playing by the rule but yo I gotta confess
Last night I felt like quitting cuz all of the stress
Got the world on my shoulder n pain all over my chest
Plus my girl is tripping, she keeps thinking I'm callin' my ex
But somehow, someway, I kept on pushin'
Never show my pain cuz you never know who's lookin'
When you show weakness they try to bring you down
N talk behind your back & diss you when you're not around
But they will never stop me
I'mma change the world
Don't believe me
Just Watch me
Heyyy...
[Spoken: 2pac]
(2pac - White Christmas Interview)
...
...
It’s been times I gave to these little kids - they was at the gas station. It impressed me that them little kids was like 14 and they’re pumping people’s gas instead of taking the money like I would think - that’s the easy way - they’re pumping people’s gas. And you know people was cruel. They’ll give you a quarter after watching you inhale vapors and everything. They’ll give you a quarter for pumping gas. And I gave them little kids like fifty bucks. They was like, “Thank you!” But that teaches them that when you work hard and be responsible, there’s a reward for that. And I think that just like I did that, corporations can do that, and on a bigger level. Imagine if a corporation just sent a representative and said, “Just go hang out in that playground, and … whatever kid is the coolest and shares the ball or lets the most people play basketball, we’re gonna give them a scholarship.” That would bring hope. There’s no hope, and there’s not going to be too many more Christmases without hope. … There’s not going to be too many more days without hope

Mills McLamb 5 years later and still better than the other stupid songs ..
Real shit...he raps about life & not "bitches , money & weed" like other shitty rappers! Real talk! Hands down by far the best rapper!!! You keep on doing your shit. Much respect! 3
Agreed👊💥
Yes, for real! 👌
Phora, TODAY was the day I discovered you and I am in love with your music. You are so inspirational through your music and I know I'm not only speaking for myself.
lmfao wtf
+KUBO hahaha
G shit
I started getting into Phora. I can relate to what he is saying because I lost two brothers. I have felt hopeless, but I figured that since I'm the last one, there is a purpose for me just like he said. I grew up in the ghetto and I have also lost many friends and have had close ones incarcerated. It was tough growing up, but I managed and held on and now I'm in college; I'm about to graduate and working hard to make ends meet. There is always hope, you just have to believe in yourself. Life is precious my dear friends.
Rigo Ortiz Jr good job bro, proud of you. Keep on going make those brothers proud. They are looking down and proud of their brother guaranteed. I wish you luck man.
Rigo Ortiz Jr learn from it , help others that are in your position , thats what we should be doing instead of getting mad and doing dumb shit , godbless
Rigo Ortiz Jr that's right bro stay strong
I’m just a stranger but I’m proud of you for staying strong. ❤️
phora helps me heal daily
Wicked cosmos me two

Been listening to you since I was 15 y.o... and i can’t explain how thankful I was and am for your music. Sometimes you just need a push.. through the hard times. Listening to your music I vibe, let go of my pain, reminisce, and find strength. Genuinely. Thank you.
Found you cuz of dizzy wright and I'm not disappointed.
wheres your name
phora is one of the rappers that is a healer he helps those instead of tellin people hey go shoot someone he isnt like that
That's the way it's supposed to be
seen him perform a few days ago and came back to rewatch all his old videos and seeing how much he's come up is insane.... yall he took over that stage and couldn't stop saying how much he loved his fans. this man is one of the REALIST artists and that's straight facts..
amaya rose agreed

Phora saved my life back in 2018 .. I've always wanted to be a U.S Marine.. However, I was told from my own mother and grandmother "you're not tough enough to survive that type of treatment"
I earned the title of Marine!
Best rapper artist alive today. Lyrically and realistically.
just want to say this song changed my life and i know that you will change the world.
I totally agree :)
6 years later and I’m STILL listening to this !!!
Who’s still bumping this in 2019 ?? 💪🏼
Still keep this playing. Truth isn’t bound by time!!
Nah bruh we still bumpimg this on 2035
We still bumpin bro
This song got me out of suicide, that is phora, that's why you kept living thru the three times that you were supposed to be gone , you were here to save the life's thru the music you made and for that I'm still breathing and living, thanks phora,
The very first song I heard from you, I was listening on my phone online at school and I was in a sad mood that day I was a bit depressed and I was like dam this guys song is real as fuck and I started searching you up and listening to more of your songs and I was just loving your shit man how you were real and put some emotion in your voice when you rap and so many songs relate to me you just give me that feeling man it's too bad people wanna hear what they wanna hear not what they need to hear
I have some friends who can't get into all the rappers who I love: Phora, J Cole, Hopsin, Dizzy Wright, and Jarren Benton but they're all about Machine Gun Kelly and Yelawolf and G-Eazy type stuff. I have a hard time explaining to them the difference and why I can't get into it like I can my stuff. At first I told them it was poppy and they denied it. Idk how to explain it. While I can appreciate a ton of different music this shit just feels way more real. I guess they'll never get it cause I've showed them Phora 100 times cause every time I listen to this shit it blows my mind and I have to show someone. Oh well. Phora forever
Same man, except I also like old school. G Eazy is so overrated.
Oh hell yeah old school is the only other hip hop I listen to. Love the 1st chronic album by Dre. NWA. The usuals.
for real tho some people just dont know how real phoras music is
I agree with you there.
Same

swear this fool my doppelganger he speaks truth from the heart about being a damaged soul but still he encourages those who struggle to stay strong. A fallen angel who found his way back to the light. much love for your music homie
It's 2023 and it's still relevant
I could’ve been dead at 15 but he saved me yo I’m 18 now and I’m still blasting this 💯
🙌🏾
Many years later… not saying it makes me any better just saying damn it’s been awhile and nobody knows it how long we been banging these soul food tracks. 🤖
We need this phora back he used to rap more than he does now now he just says one verse then the chorus then it’s over his songs are short and phora back in the day you can feel the pain in his voice when he spits lyrics to relate to others his voice would crack
Robert Delafuente His Music Is The Same Now Repetitive I Can Literally Guess All The Lyrics Coming Up Now
He deserve Billions for his music Content
phora gives me life
im always going to listen to Phora. Always. When this song came out, life was so perfect and simple.
The best rapper. He doesn't sing about sex and other things like that. He puts meaning behind everyone of his songs and nothing means, well nothing. He even dedicates some of them to kids, like us. He is my inspiration for rapping and lyric making. I can definitely say he has impacted my life and helped me through some really tough stuff. The world has changed because of him. And slowly more people will notice it.
Shit this shit is so true and pure from the heart. Truly yours Phora
BEEN A FAN SINCE THE BEGGINING , keep it up bro .

I hear the radio, isn't the same as before, "I got this, I hit this, I did this" turning on one another whats happened now, I hardly come across a song like Phoras. This song turns my life around to think before I speak , to love my family more then ever no matter what, to wacth who I hang out with. Awesome real life song, unlike others.
It's amazing Phora, how much you have grown in your music! keep digging deeper I am so glad this generation has people like you. Thank you and God bless you.
why is this melody in so many songs? It's in Dead Presidents, The Longest road, and this song.
because its a sample that sounds good :)
Dha Beatmaker ProductionsTV I 100% agree :) Do you know where this melody came from first?
Lonnie Liston-Smith . A garden of peace
Cat Barsumian
its called a fucking sample not a melody Cat!
damn. My bad.
Yo Phora I hear your songs when I was in 3 Grade I was like 7 or 8 I will hear them and I love all of them and right now I'm 12 and I'm turning 13 this April 11 and I'm going to put all your songs on my birthday and thanks for your songs they make me fell better they remember of my dad my two sisters and two brothers but I don't know who is really my dad that is the makes me mad so I hear your songs to make me feel better and my sister went to see you and she took some pictures of you and when I saw them I got ssssoooo HAPPY but on the day if my birthday I'm going to put all your songs and the one Open Letter I like that one the MOST ALOT but I'm going to put them all

Its actually from 'A garden of Peace' by Lonnie Liston-Smith its just sped up a little.
I don't know who you are, but thank you. Very much.
My world was crumbling down and I just needed someone around then I found u and u gave me the strength to keep going

💯
who else is listening to this in 2018?
I remember I was at the library when this song just dropped, I can't even start to explain the goosebumps on my skin; this is why Phora is one of my favorite artists he talks about what should be spoken about. He gives me hope and this much is true.
This dude is so young but so ahead of the game. The future is looking bright.
Do any one know what tupac interview is that at the end
DiverZity Vang white Christmas interview
Who still listening in 2018?
Phora and Logic on the same track would be the best song in the world!!!!!!!!!!
even though i didnt listen to him in this era of his career it definitely is my favourite
who's still listening 2017 😻
I am!!
Did anyone else notice that the instrumental on this track is the same instrumental that was used in Growing Pain II by logic??
Bryan Gomez and jcole rapped over it too
Bryan Gomez it's originally made by Jay Z he started the dead presidents trend
Kurry Nah, I think Nas made it first
Jonathan Helis no. It was jay z he just used NAS voice and sampled his best from one of his songs
Mary j Blige song take me as I am on this beat
Phora you're such an inspiration. You changed my chaged my life.♥
Dammmm major tb, I haven't listened to this song since he dropped it. I don't listen to phora no more cause all his songs made me depressed but I still like his early songs back then. Hope is my favorite song and always will be.
#2020StillBumpin
2018 anyone ?
Mad respect to everyone who keeps pushing...... phora speaks of having faith for all of humanity ... if only more of us had more faith in themselves
Your music makes me feel stronger. Thank you for your words!
Did anyone else realise that this is the same beat as all 'Dead presidents' by Nas, Jay z, Logic
Yes, yes we did.
Jonathan Helis Dead presidents is a popular beat
Jonathan Helis does it matter its good music
Yes, and at the beginning of this song he said, "First off, I ain't in this for the dead presidents."
King Gio.B so what are you trying to say
why isn't he signed? Dre would take a chance on Em but not this guy? I don't understand
cus its not unique! we have a lot of these good guys telling us to smile n stuff but em was something that changed the rap game, now we have rapgod em and he is the beast, but ofcourse phora is inspirinational.
who even makes that type of comparison? even if he did get signe dot after math he wouldnt come out. dr dre signed so many fucking rapper sover the years its pathetic and the only ones to release albums on after math was eminem,50 cent, the game, kendrick lamar, busta rhymes and truth hurts. and truth hurts got dropped form the label all because her album went gold. hes about hits its not about the art with him.
He doesnt wanna sell out
being signed does not equal selling out. you special snowflake idiots need to get that through your thick ass hard heads.
Thats Pretty Much Why these other rappers join a record label . he wants to stay independent he doesnt want record companies getting into the way he makes music .
phora your music has helped me through many hard times i love your music
This song is everything i have stuck in my mind that i cant let out... I love you phora for always speakin true.
como quisiera saber ingles, para poder entender lo que dice :'v
prince royce ...That fuckin name...que nombre👍😂😂
D4 Flores what's wrong with it?
prince royce Nun
Yo se ingles y espanol y me siento muy muy bendesido
what fucking sample is it, im having a brain fart
+Richard Romero jay z - Dead Presidents
Dead presidents
one of my favorites from him!!
I love how Phora expresses his life through in n out of this song.. Knife in my chest, Knife in my back, never thought I'd be able to breathe again. Well done
You'll never now how much of an inspiration you are are
Amen phora bring back this music these people need to listen to this voice we need a movement
Forever will be my favorite song from Phora no matter what.
This song goes deep man mad respect!
