Bill, those fifty years are almost my entire life. The twin dreams of 60's, peace and civil rights, have not been fulfilled but we're getting closer. It's no longer just a few people marching and protesting. Just look at how many Americans of all races and creeds came out last summer after the murder of George Floyd and then we voted to remove trump. Look at how Americans have condemned the Jan 6th Insurrection. The battle to defeat racism and extremism will be long, but much progress has been made. Symbols and statues representing hate are coming down The "n" word, so common and so casually uttered in my childhood, is no longer tolerated. Our children live in a multicultural and multiracial country and they are being taught to love our diversity, not hate and fear it. Humans are flawed, tribal creatures in an imperfect world, but despite long odds we are making progress. Have hope and keep working to make your corner of the world better.
I was 8 years old and loved this song and all of their music. Little white girl growing up in Baltimore City with every kind of people and loved them all!! Hoping our city gets the help it needs.

I went to one of their concerts in Dallas the summer of 1966, the year I worked at Six Flags over Texas. When I left the building, there must have been a thousand people outside holding lit cigarette lighters showing their love and admiration for the group. He was a local guy, born in Denton, TX, who had made it big and had a huge fan base in the DFW area. He is loved by all.
Peace and love to everyone. Do for others. Do not worry about tomorrow. Only in this day can we work. Let's all do our best to help those who can not help their selves. Let love of life and goodness be your guide. If you feel lost go do something for someone and this will be your road map home.

You know this song was out in 68 or 69. And it held a lot of truth then how we did not get along with our fellow man and you know what it hasn't changed one bit in 2024 the song still holds a lot of water the way relationships between our fellow man is today
"Can't we all just get along?" God says when we put who we are (Our Race, color etc.) Before who he is, It becomes Idolatry, and God says you will put no idols before me. 2nd Commandment -Exodus 20
I’m listening now and have been great stuff sly and the family stones I’m 71 years old and I can’t stop loving these bands always.you can hear the music 🎶 and the lyrics so clearly keep up with this stuff 🎼🎶🎼🎼🎼
I'm here. I'm an old white woman, and in your pic, you appear to be a young woman of color. But we are both really "everyday people." We realize that Dr. King was SO right when he said people should be assessed by the quality of their character, not the color of their skin, and I would add not their gender, whom they love, or what they believe about God. I've been screaming that since Dr. K said it, and I will be screaming it on my deathbed.
So much of a more hopeful message about race than we get today in 2024. No critical race theory, no intersectionality no reparations. Just don't hate people. We're all the same. I miss those days.
This is So reminiscent of life in the East Bay So privileged to grow up in the East bay area and grown up with these guys playing block Parties with Larry Graham. I'm talking Ol School if you know you know.
I've been loving this song since it first came out. Now, my grandkids come home from school and say "we listened to this great song today". This is the song and apparently they play it at their elementary school all the time. Good times.
I was on Google and I looked up, “bands in the 1960’s that were diverse and then a topic popped up “racially integrated bands in the 1960’s and turns out that this band was the first band that was interracial and that was diverse with both men and Woman in one accord! Never heard this song before but it’s a blessing beautiful first time 😭❤️🙌🫶🏽
By FAR the single most important song/video people in this world NEED to hear/see right now. Imagine a country where respect, kindness, forward-thinking, and unity overtake racism, greed, hate, and division. God, it would be a great place to live.

Me to same time period as you and I spend a little time trying to get people to recognize we all Need each other in order to survive 😊😅🎉😂❤
We gotta live together..
You know this song was out in 68 or 69. And it held a lot of truth then how we did not get along with our fellow man and you know what it hasn't changed one bit in 2024 the song still holds a lot of water the way relationships between our fellow man is today
Sly wrote a lot of beautiful songs.
He certainly did - his lyrics always hit home and people could so relate to him! Sly was one of my favorite people!
@@mrams0911 still living
2021 and still listening to ALL Sly and Family tunes. I’m 64 people. If not now…..WHEN!!!!!!!!
"Can't we all just get along?" God says when we put who we are (Our Race, color etc.) Before who he is, It becomes Idolatry, and God says you will put no idols before me. 2nd Commandment -Exodus 20
Sly had great songs but this is the one you remeber a timeless classic.
He was way ahead of his time.
Thank you Sly and The Family Stone ❤
I’m listening now and have been great stuff sly and the family stones I’m 71 years old and I can’t stop loving these bands always.you can hear the music 🎶 and the lyrics so clearly keep up with this stuff 🎼🎶🎼🎼🎼
Good music never dies they can’t possibly create a piece of work like this anymore
You are so Right the talent for new ideas does not Exist on our PLANET 😢🎉
@@ayndowney9401the talent is out there....
....somewhere.
Everyday people!? Where y'all at? Please love this song! Such a strong positive message that some people will never get 🙏🙌 ❤️
JOLTIN' JOE 2020 baby!!!!
Man in the mirror...Michael Jackson
@@do9138 respect to you queen 👑
So much of a more hopeful message about race than we get today in 2024. No critical race theory, no intersectionality no reparations. Just don't hate people. We're all the same. I miss those days.
2 and a half minutes of truth!!
With all of this hatred and division we need this message more than ever.
I Grew up with this Awesome, Priceless Song Love it Then 40yrs Ago n Now At5-----yrs Old love it Now
I Am EveryDay! People ❤🤗🎉
This song came on the radio at 5:30 this morning as I was driving down the interstate. Made my whole day!
What a great turn to start your day 💯💯
Fantastic timing, that sets your whole day up nicely, rock on!!
Just as compelling and relevant today as it was then.
I'll Always Remember Listening To This Song In A Car Commercial As A Child With My Father R.I.P.
This should have at least 100 Millione views!
This is So reminiscent of life in the East Bay So privileged to grow up in the East bay area and grown up with these guys playing block Parties with Larry Graham. I'm talking Ol School if you know you know.
I wish more people could come together around music like this of all ethnicities, skin colors and sizes.
Now more than ever this song is so true
I've been loving this song since it first came out. Now, my grandkids come home from school and say "we listened to this great song today". This is the song and apparently they play it at their elementary school all the time. Good times.
Hello 👋🏻 Stephanie Jackson, 😊how are you?
This was the first cassette tape I got as a present on sixth birthday now I am 58 .
I was 16 in '69. The music back then was definitely better and I loved this song 🎶🎵🎶
I think the world needs to hear this right about now...
Yes We Do💜💜
Everyday.

I picture the smell of fresh cut grass, fireworks on the 4th of the July, bbqs and a lot of laughter ..
