As a 44 year old guy, KPop isn't my usual cup of tea. But my daughter dragged me to the Baby Monster fan meet in Singapore while we were there vacationing. And holy cow, can those girls sing. Thier live vocals are better than some other artists' production tracks. I"m very impressed, and definitely becoming a fan.

YG took it slowly and surely. I know he is very confident with their ability and made sure that it will be showcased in due time and here we are now. Out of nowhere, YG and BabyMonster started flexing with their outstanding live performances and they did it. The other thing is, they can back it up. They are definitely pure talent.
one thing people need to understand is that Babymonster is a group set for international success, far beyond the vocal k-pop audience and korean audience. Which they managed to achieve in day one. currently, the only k-pop girl group more popular and successful than Baby Monster is Blackpink. They dominated everything ever since their debut and they NEVER fell short. they just had very vocal haters.
Because 91 percent of the fandom is blink if they debuted in another company they wouldn’t be famous that much no matter how talented they are look at kiss of life

This is crazy because whenever YG debuts a group they always do it in difficult times and babyMonster was not saved from this, at the time they debuted it was the difficult year for the company, there are many factors also why they were not quickly known and It is because of the current Kpop community that there is a section and that is that this group received hate before and after their debut, they received ridicule, comparisons, etc., to this day they are not saved from this. There is a lot behind why, really, and how the The company's past plays against the YG groups for the Korean market, BM is having real support in Korea, which surprises me being a YG group, I also grew up with the second generation and babyMonster called me so much because of their live voices. One thing I want to point out that after their live band performance became viral many Korean netizen were like they should be in Coachella or the performance like Coachella headliner But the irony is that when in their member announcement video they said one day they want to perform at Coachella Knetz heavily criticised them saying they have no education or etiquette, why would they want to go international stage before domestic stage or before winning Korean music show. But as there's a saying Karma always payback at last those people were the one who wanted them on Coachella. I love Babymonster and I was blown away by their introductions, and by their debute… I really don’t understand why people judge them so hard, like everyone expecting them to instantly be on Nr.1 and have views like Blackpink Nowadays… they get way more detailed criticism, compared to other groups, and YG went during a hard time, and Babymonster too with missing one member, debute got put more behind and the high expectations… but they came as 6 members and slaying really hard and breaking records. They never promoted it, but still slayed with record breaking views and achievements. Batter up is a solid good song. And stuck in the middle is beautiful. And Iam glad that they get the recognition and attention they deserved from the beginning, not cause of hybe, not only cause of the name YG. What even makes me shock is that bm members talk like a well grown and legendary artists their sense of answering critical questions are on the point. Even though they made so many mistakes in first fanmeet they worked reall hard on it and fixed them up and on the second day no mistakes were there. Babymonster is truly a group which deserves both awards and recognition. But sadly kpop industry is just now based on pretty faces and cute charms that's why yg always gets hate cause they don't let their idols behave like childrens.

Overall this is a good chronicle of BM's short, OT7 debut period (3 months from 4/1/24). I do find it amusing that there's recognition of the record debut album sales and record YT views by for a debut followed with a but they 'fell flat' or they were received with 'lukewarm' response. But I get it, there was a lot of noise early on from doubters and haters of the group even though they also received huge positive support, especially from Blinks or YG stans. Now that they've had a chance to flex their musical prowess with more releases, it gets harder and harder for those doubters and haters to bring them down. They knew that their best chance to keep BM down was to attack them early and often when they only had one or two songs out since it only displayed a touch of what they could bring to the table. It was also much easier for them when it was unclear if Ahyeon would rejoin them to bring them to their promised full strength. I believe those early haters were probably YG/BP/Teddy-antis or they didn't want to see their faves get passed so quickly by this young, monster girl group. Lastly, I think it's a bit unfair to expect any group to dominate both the Korean and international market in their debut year. I believe most groups either try to grab early Korean fans or early international fans but not both - that's extremely difficult. That said, I feel BM is more focused on the non-Korean market initially and then they will garner more love from Korea. For example, they recently announced their final fan meet stop in Seoul. Their ultimate goal seems overseas focused so they can get on a Coachella stage and not stop at University festivals in Korea. Speaking of live stages, BM is clearly dead focused on delivering the best live stage experience possible. That is one thing that they clearly want to learn and build on from their YG sunbaenims. For me, I'd rather stan a group that I know will deliver a great, live concert experience to those that might release more streamable hits but can't deliver them on stage.
But the main vocalist is Rami and main dancer is Chiquita. YG not yet officially announced but Rami introduced herself on air during "Knowing Bros" Korean TV program. Chiquita was given the Solo Dance / Break Dance part in Forever (the solo dance is normally done by the main dancer of the group).

Girl babymonster already released a multiple genre in span of 5 months since debut. Their discography is more diverse than 99% of kpop in new generation. It's not their fault that people are still stuck in y2k and tiktok friendly music even though the singers can't sing those songs live

Agree but the trend has definitely shifted in kpop. In previous generations dance tracks were preferred (look at the most popular songs of each 3rd gen group). The focus was on choreo and performance. Now people are starting to ask for vocal songs, with actual lyrics.
I think we have to recognise that during 2NE1 and Blackpink era, the Girl Group space was far less crowded, and it was easier to standout (no denying both groups’ talent). For Babymonster, the space is super crowded so it is definitely more difficult to “shine”. It is good to see that their efforts are paying off now.
Maybe another point to consider is the definition of “successful”. If going by the Korean Music Show awards is the measure of success, then I would have to agree. However, looking at the UA-cam views, Batter Up reach 100m views in just 18.1 days while Sheesh managed the same feat in just 10.6 days. Using the 2 Blackpink songs as a matrix of success and impact, Boombayah and Whistle took more than 22 days to achieve the feat. Both 2NE1 and Blackpink did take some time to have an international impact and cult following (of which I am a humble follower), but Babymonster is already on its way to this internationally as can be seen by their Asia Fanmeet sessions and calls for a similar Fanmeet in US and Europe.
Let's be honest people have started hating BM since Dream billboard success and until today the hate continues. If it was another group who did what BM did you will see the positive hype of haters and the top on their melon... I see many fandoms who give support to another fandom (the fandom of the group the hate before) just to make BM down... I can tell because I'm kpoper and support many groups that's why.🤷 But babymonster will find day by day people who will really love them and I Pray God to protect them because they deserve an artist like them is what the world needs

In addition to the fact that the multinational formation of its seven members (South Korea, Thailand and Japan), four foreigners and three nationals, will never be liked by the people of that country who think of themselves as "superior." YG with Baby Monster began billing immediately after the integration of Ahyeon carrying out her Asian tour of mini concerts-fan meetings. The cost of tickets was high and yet all their presentations were sold-out. Currently there is no other group of the 5th. generation that can be billing what Baby Monster already bills and, my friend, this is about BUSINESS and fortunately Yang Hyun Suk has decided to do it through the immense vocal, rap, stage presence, dance and visual talent of the seven members. Business and success are assured.

Great video. You kept on saying "but something was missing." We ALL know what was missing: Teddy Park. I fear that when Blackpink makes a comeback, Teddy will be MIA, and their comeback will be disappointing. I love and admire BabyMonster members. Really thought Sheesh was a home run that displayed their awesome talents. But their other songs have been just singles and maybe a double. It is not easy to hit home run after home run like Blackpink/Teddy did. Bro when 2ne1 debuted, the competition ain't that hard and so with BlackPink. Now we have 100 kpop groups debuting every day. Give props to Baemon, they did great with 6 members and Batter up. Le Serafim & Illit really did help Babymon to boost their limelight with their live singing. I was one of these peeps who started to notice them during that time.
The "talent always wins" argument falls apart pretty quick when you look at TWICE's ongoing success. They were pinned to the top of the leaderboards for years despite not really being a vocal powerhouse. Their specialty was being cute and generally good at everything, and it turned into selling 20 million albums and selling out stadiums all over the world, even in 2024. As for HYBE.... TWS, Illit, NewJeans and Le Sserafim were all very successful this year, despite anything you could argue that is holding them back. Illit and NewJeans still out-chart Babymonster most days.
Please avoid comparing Beamon's success to other girl groups; they are literally considered the successor of Blackpink. same as txt ,who got insane hype before debut

This is crazy because whenever YG debuts a group they always do it in difficult times and babyMonster was not saved from this, at the time they debuted it was the difficult year for the company, there are many factors also why they were not quickly known and It is because of the current Kpop community that there is a section and that is that this group received hate before and after their debut, they received ridicule, comparisons, etc., to this day they are not saved from this. There is a lot behind why, really, and how the The company's past plays against the YG groups for the Korean market, BM is having real support in Korea, which surprises me being a YG group, I also grew up with the second generation and babyMonster called me so much because of their live voices. I love Babymonster and I was blown away by their introductions, and by their debute… I really don’t understand why people judge them so hard, like everyone expecting them to instantly be on Nr.1 and have views like Blackpink Nowadays… they get way more detailed criticism, compared to other groups, and YG went during a hard time, and Babymonster too with missing one member, debute got put more behind and the high expectations… but they came as 6 members and slaying really hard and breaking records. They never promoted it, but still slayed with record breaking views and achievements. Batter up is a solid good song. And stuck in the middle is beautiful.
And Iam glad that they get the recognition and attention they deserved from the beginning, not cause of hybe, not only cause of the name YG. What even makes me shock is that bm members talk like a well grown and legendary artists their sense of answering critical questions are on the point. Overall this is a good chronicle of BM's short, OT7 debut period (3 months from 4/1/24). I do find it amusing that there's recognition of the record debut album sales and record YT views by for a debut followed with a but they 'fell flat' or they were received with 'lukewarm' response. But I get it, there was a lot of noise early on from doubters and haters of the group even though they also received huge positive support, especially from Blinks or YG stans.
Now that they've had a chance to flex their musical prowess with more releases, it gets harder and harder for those doubters and haters to bring them down. They knew that their best chance to keep BM down was to attack them early and often when they only had one or two songs out since it only displayed a touch of what they could bring to the table. It was also much easier for them when it was unclear if Ahyeon would rejoin them to bring them to their promised full strength. I believe those early haters were probably YG/BP/Teddy-antis or they didn't want to see their faves get passed so quickly by this young, monster girl group.
Lastly, I think it's a bit unfair to expect any group to dominate both the Korean and international market in their debut year. I believe most groups either try to grab early Korean fans or early international fans but not both - that's extremely difficult. That said, I feel BM is more focused on the non-Korean market initially and then they will garner more love from Korea. For example, they recently announced their final fan meet stop in Seoul. Their ultimate goal seems overseas focused so they can get on a Coachella stage and not stop at University festivals in Korea. Speaking of live stages, BM is clearly dead focused on delivering the best live stage experience possible. That is one thing that they clearly want to learn and build on from their YG sunbaenims. For me, I'd rather stan a group that I know will deliver a great, live concert experience to those that might release more streamable hits but can't deliver them on stage.

But the main vocalist is Rami and main dancer is Chiquita. YG not yet officially announced but Rami introduced herself on air during "Knowing Bros" Korean TV program. Chiquita was given the Solo Dance / Break Dance part in Forever (the solo dance is normally done by the main dancer of the group).

Agree but the trend has definitely shifted in kpop. In previous generations dance tracks were preferred (look at the most popular songs of each 3rd gen group). The focus was on choreo and performance.
Now people are starting to ask for vocal songs, with actual lyrics.
The main problem for charts in SK is the freaking release time, they need to change that

I think we have to recognise that during 2NE1 and Blackpink era, the Girl Group space was far less crowded, and it was easier to standout (no denying both groups’ talent). For Babymonster, the space is super crowded so it is definitely more difficult to “shine”. It is good to see that their efforts are paying off now.

Maybe another point to consider is the definition of “successful”. If going by the Korean Music Show awards is the measure of success, then I would have to agree. However, looking at the UA-cam views, Batter Up reach 100m views in just 18.1 days while Sheesh managed the same feat in just 10.6 days. Using the 2 Blackpink songs as a matrix of success and impact, Boombayah and Whistle took more than 22 days to achieve the feat. Both 2NE1 and Blackpink did take some time to have an international impact and cult following (of which I am a humble follower), but Babymonster is already on its way to this internationally as can be seen by their Asia Fanmeet sessions and calls for a similar Fanmeet in US and Europe.

The "talent always wins" argument falls apart pretty quick when you look at TWICE's ongoing success. They were pinned to the top of the leaderboards for years despite not really being a vocal powerhouse. Their specialty was being cute and generally good at everything, and it turned into selling 20 million albums and selling out stadiums all over the world, even in 2024. As for HYBE.... TWS, Illit, NewJeans and Le Sserafim were all very successful this year, despite anything you could argue that is holding them back. Illit and NewJeans still out-chart Babymonster most days.
Please avoid comparing Beamon's success to other girl groups; they are literally considered the successor of Blackpink.
