There is a great video out there of Usain Bolt stopping an interview he is doing because the National Anthem was playing for a medal ceremony. He just stops and watches and listens and when it is over he continues the interview.
There also was an American pole vaulter (military man) who was on his runway approach to jump, the anthem began, he stopped and faced the flag with hand over heart. 🇺🇸❤
I don’t remember when but years ago I believe it was a hockey game with USA vs Canada. Again, the mic went out at the beginning of National anthem when suddenly the Canadians chimed in and began singing the anthem along with the Americans! What wonderful people the Canadians are.
At an outdoor performance of the Vancouver Symphony, this American sang "Oh, Canada" as well as I could. I think there's a lot of mutual respect between the countries (even if they limit American TV 😫).
My favorite was still when England performed our national anthem during changing of the guard, something unheard of. They did it a day or two after 9/11
To all our homeland patriots, to our brothers and sisters in arms, to our friends and cousins and those that seek freedom around the world; Salute to you! o7
A few years back, the same thing happened when the singers mic died while singing the american national anthem, and the whole stadium, most canadians on canadian terf, finished the anthem. To thank the canadian hockey fans who picked up the song when the mic died, the american fans, during a game in the US, sang the canadian national anthem. Both beautiful moments.
I was thinking the same thing about the crowd not missing a beat and I posted the same thing about the crowd doing a better job singing than most pros.
@@PaulsWanderings The nice thing about crowds singing the anthem is that they feel no need to embellish it. They sing it just the way it was meant to be sung.
Honestly - if at about any event in America if you were to stop the main singer doing the national anthem - you would find that everyone is singing along regardless....we always put our r/hand over our heart and sing along!! WE ARE VERY PROUD OF OUR NATIONAL ANTHEM!!!
The National Anthem is always played before pee-wee or elementary-age sports (ages 5 and above) through the professional leagues. There is never a sporting event in the USA where our National Anthem is played and sung before any athletic activity occurs.
@@ryan_lloyd I once saw a video of a children's baseball game where they announced the National Anthem would NOT be played. Spectators started standing up and singing it anyway. Both team coaches brought their players out to line up and show respect until the song was over.
You’re not wrong. I’ve been at two different hockey games when that happened. At one, we were playing a Canadian team and always played both anthems when we played them. Assuming that’s normal. Anyway, it happened during the Canadian anthem and the American crowd kicked in and started singing. It was pretty cool.
Unscripted no choir direction, just genuine american free speech/pride. All countries should be able to have pride in their country. And proudly sing their anthems.
As an American AND a singing teacher, this was great. You could still hear that singer without the mic, which is crazy! Everyone else stayed on key and on rhythm, which is another impressive thing in a room that big. And I love our anthem, but the thing I love most was the quickness and willingness of the crowd to help someone in need. A whole room of people showed their support for a performer who was experiencing technical difficulties. That's real patriotism. Lifting each other up when we are in need. Our country is going through hard things right now, but we can still show basic decency and human kindness.
There was a high school game a year or so ago where the school refused to play the National Anthem (because if the Looney Toon crap going on the last few years) so the families in the bleachers stood up and sang it anyway.

Love how the singer’s voice still carried. He went to his maximum volume it seems to lead the crowd. When microphone tried working again he probably fried it with the power of his voice.
I notice the playing of the tune for “America” which is oddly the anthem for England with different words. But bagpipes were cool. But I would expect the crowd to see along to the anthem anytime this happened cause we always sing along.
America is do proud of our flag and nation because we know how much blood of our patriots has ben lost to protect that flag and how many patriots lives have be sacrificed so America can be the land of the free and home of the brave .Blessed is the nation who's god is the Lord
I was lining up for a half marathon when the same thing happened. The singer started the anthem, the PA system failed, so 4000 - 5000 runners picked it up and finished the song.
As an American.. The National Anthem has always and will always bring a strong sense of patriotism about. So.. When you see/hear something like this.. Americans banding together to ensure that the anthem is sung to completion regardless of circumstances.. It is beyond words. Especially when you know the story behind the lyrics. The sacrifice of the men that night who gave their lives to ensure that “The flag was still there”. Even though the flag kept taking repeated canon hits throughout the night. The lives given to ensure that the flag stayed up.
Everyone always sings along! The singer was so good just keeping on!! You NEVER stop this song, you always sing to the end, we Americans stand, put our hand over our hearts and sing. I think it's a prayer to God Almighty to thank HIM, who sustains us through all of the ups and downs in our country. And brings us through the tough times!!
First song was America the Beautiful. Every time the mic drops out, you get this reaction, even our great Canadian friends have done this at hockey games.

This song and other patriotic songs are taught to us real young. We were brought up to cover our heart, face the flag and guys would remove hat's if they had one on and always to stand. To this day it still brings tears to my eye.

It's really no different than the soldiers mentality of if this man (carrying the flag) shall fall, it now goes to you to pick it up and move forward. Long story short, the crowd here reacted exactly like it was supposed to. The Patriotism can appear somewhat cult like, but it is very close to the Americans heart as the National Anthem is what defines us as a Nation and as it's People. Good vid...

Thanks for reacting to this video.
They all sing then all clap for their effort. I’m with you tho bro … cudos to homie for lifting his voice up louder to lead and not just stand there after the mic dies
I love when the crowd gets to sing the National Anthem. I find that the crowd, for the most part, sounds better than the singer. There was no conductor guiding the crowd yet, the pauses were all uniform and everyone was on key. This was beautiful. I wish that the singer had stopped trying to get back into it. Once the mic failed and the crowd started, he should have called it a night.
And yet another winner! Wanted to leave a comment and help feed the algorithm beast, thank you for the video and commentary, everyone have a happy and safe weekend
For me, the anthem represents the intestinal fortitude and never give up attitude of the American people. Francis Scott Key, on realizing it was the heroism of so many Patriots to keep the flag flying over Fort McHenry in Baltimore harbor, wrote these words so all could know their ultimate sacrifice. Not many realize, but the fall of Baltimore could have ended the American experiment. Baltimore was The Crossroads for all US trade at the time. The Baltimore and Ohio brought all goods from the emerging western settlements, cotton from the south moved through Baltimore on the way to mills in the north, and industrial machinery from the north passed through Baltimore. Only 35 miles from DC, Baltimore would have given the British a great foothold to attack Washington. This was 1812, the last time any foreign nation attempted war on our soil. Now, it's no longer possible for anyone, or everyone, to attack our shores. And the rest, is history!
This was during the US Olympic Trials in 2016. The pool was built in the CentiryLink Center in Omaha, Nebraska. There is an amazing time-lapse of them building the pool inside the arena.

For me, it's the 4/17/13 rendition at the start of the Bruins game. This was the first major sports event held in Boston and the day of the West, TX explosion. Both events hit me hard. The Marathon is just a part of my life. Also, I have deep family roots in that part of Texas and had family that responded to the aftermath. Proud to be an American and a Bostonian.
Yes, the singer was a real Pro---didn't skip a beat.
Pipes n drums while marching makes you feel 100 feet tall....add the Star Spangled Banner, that would be tingles
It gave me goosebumps and my eyes watered up
You should check out the video about the meaning behind the national anthem
I did do a video about that! It was so amazing!
I highly recommend watching the video that tells the story of The Star Bangled Banner. I can’t watch it without tearing up and bursting with pride.
I always get emotional when I hear our anthem, especially when I see a large group of my fellow Americans doing it...used to be a common thing only thirty years ago...
Vet here with tears…happens every damn time I hear this song for some reason
God Bless America!!
