The song that the Bagpipes were playing is called "America". It is another patriotic song, and is very beautiful. You will sometimes see it listed as "America (My Country, 'Tis of Thee)".

As an American AND a singing teacher, this was great. You could still hear that singer without the mic, which is crazy! Everyone else stayed on key and on rhythm, which is another impressive thing in a room that big. And I love our anthem, but the thing I love most was the quickness and willingness of the crowd to help someone in need. A whole room of people showed their support for a performer who was experiencing technical difficulties. That's real patriotism. Lifting each other up when we are in need. Our country is going through hard things right now, but we can still show basic decency and human kindness.

Especially when you know the story behind the lyrics. The sacrifice of the men that night who gave their lives to ensure that “The flag was still there”. Even though the flag kept taking repeated canon hits throughout the night. The lives given to ensure that the flag stayed up.

For me, the anthem represents the intestinal fortitude and never give up attitude of the American people. Francis Scott Key, on realizing it was the heroism of so many Patriots to keep the flag flying over Fort McHenry in Baltimore harbor, wrote these words so all could know their ultimate sacrifice.
Not many realize, but the fall of Baltimore could have ended the American experiment. Baltimore was The Crossroads for all US trade at the time. The Baltimore and Ohio brought all goods from the emerging western settlements, cotton from the south moved through Baltimore on the way to mills in the north, and industrial machinery from the north passed through Baltimore. Only 35 miles from DC, Baltimore would have given the British a great foothold to attack Washington. This was 1812, the last time any foreign nation attempted war on our soil. Now, it's no longer possible for anyone, or everyone, to attack our shores. And the rest, is history!

This was during the US Olympic Trials in 2016. The pool was built in the CentiryLink Center in Omaha, Nebraska. There is an amazing time-lapse of them building the pool inside the arena.

I'm a 76 year old woman. Every time I hear the national anthem it makes me cry with pride. We may not do everything right but we try to do our best. There's not another country in the world like this one.

Its better than with the mic FOR SURE. You can usually find a Really cool video of a national choir competition. They always stay in the same hotel and it's a tower. And in the middle of it it's just a big open area and all the rooms have walkways that look over this common area. And it's like 5 stories tall.
Every year every team walks out of their rooms and sings the national anthem into that common area. So you have like 20 competitive teams at the national level all singing this at once in a big echo chamber.
It's unbelievable one of the greatest videos I've ever seen and they do it every single year.

This made me cry considering how torn and broken our country is right now. Now we see people burning our flags and our own people shouting death threats to other Americans. It's good to see in some areas people still love America.

A bagpipe rendition of "America the Beautiful" is not something you hear every day. But we all know the national anthem. (At least _some_ of the words....)
As someone else pointed out, the audience probably would have been singing along even if the mic had been on.
    We're a singing bunch.

This doesn’t surprise me as most of the time people are singing along anyway. It surprises me that some other countries don’t sing when their national anthem is played.

I'm german but my heart beats american... I still get so emotional every time I hear the American National Anthem, cause my biggest regret is, while living in the US as a young Army wife for 15 years, that I didn't take the US Citizenship that was offered to me several times.

I've seen this, it's beautiful and I remember someone saying, " There was NO hesitation!" And that they were all on key and it was quite beautiful! I have chills. Not here, bc I'm brand new( I did subscribe, though ), but I heard the story of Francis Scott Key( idk about spelling on that) but now that I KNOW what I am singing, it takes on a whole new meaning. But, you did do his story right, I thought I saw it! You're awesome, glad to be here 🙌💯 Great vid!

For me, it's the 4/17/13 rendition at the start of the Bruins game. This was the first major sports event held in Boston and the day of the West, TX explosion. Both events hit me hard. The Marathon is just a part of my life. Also, I have deep family roots in that part of Texas and had family that responded to the aftermath. Proud to be an American and a Bostonian.
