    In Battlefront's own words:"Combat Mission Shock Force 2 finally updates the ground breaking Shock Force 1 game setting to the current Game Engine 4 environment. Due to massive changes over the last 10 years of Combat Mission development the updating and upgrading of the original content to current standards was no small task. Most of the 3D models had to be rebuilt, reskinned, and reintegrated into brand new TO&E coding. All original scenarios and campaign games had to be checked out, tweaked, and generally improved so they retained the balance and excitement of the originals. Fans of the original game will find that this is much, much more than a new coat of paint."
    "Take command of US Stryker Brigade Combat Teams (SBCT) and Heavy Brigade Combat Teams (HBCT) to fight against Syrian Army Infantry, Mechanized and Armored units in an arid setting. Experience the full range of modern threats to conventional military forces, including irregular combat forces, terrorists, spies, suicide bombers, IED's and other deadly tools employed in the asymmetric warfare of the modern day. Play the Task Force Thunder campaign, more than a dozen carefully crafted battles, or unlimited Quick Battles."

    Lol impatience and frustration. Sounds like what I imagine being constantly bushwhacked during long, boring slogs in the desert feels like. 10/10 simulation

      I think I like smaller scenarios too. I’m a little too dumb to coordinate entire battalions and stuff.

    another great video! Sorry to hear about the 4 casualties but considering you've sustained them just now in your 3rd mission means your overall campaign is going very well.
    If you had taken the scout/sniper team with you, do you think they would have spotted the insurgents hiding in the fold and by the wall?
    I'm very excited for the next mission, I'll be waiting for your next upload.

    Your knowledge and presentation are top notch!
    This mod does a great job emulating COIN ops I must say. They know when a new unit is taking over an AO, and always test the resolve of the incoming unit. Seems like the mod was designed by someone who gets it

    Hey Hapless. Been following along for a little while now and I really enjoy your AAR style. Top class productions. I was wondering if you ever considered bringing it to the operational level with games like flashpoint campaigns, armored brigade or command ops? I know they may not have the visual appeal but your style could be a good fit? It would seem like a natural progression. Its hard to find high quality AARs such as yours for those games.

  • @NoNamer0909

    What was the insurgents experience? It would be very very very unlucky if your casualties were caused by a bunch of kids with guns XD

    How do I play modded missions? I've installed them but idk where to find the mission in game

    • @gareththompson2708
      @gareththompson2708 3 роки тому +4

      There is nothing special about custom missions or campaigns. All you do is drop them directly into your scenarios or campaigns folder, under the game files folder. They will then show up alongside all of your other scenarios and campaigns, and they will behave precisely as if they were part of the base game all along.
      There is a bit of a complication with where to find the game files folder since, for some peculiar reason that I have never understood, it isn't always in the main game installation folder. Check your main game installation folder first (which is probably located at C:/ProgramFiles(x86)/Battlefront), since it seems to be there for some games. There you will see a folder for each of your battlefront games. If you don't see a folder named Game Files at the top level of any of these folders, don't bother digging down any deeper, it isn't there. So you will want to check under C:/Users/Your Name/Documents/Battlefront/Combat Mission. There you will again see a listing of your various Combat Mission games, and in these folders (which I have absolutely no idea why they are separate from the main folders except to make life more difficult) you will, for sure this time, find a folder called Game Files. Inside Game Files are several more folders but we only care about two of them, one labeled Scenarios, and one labeled Campaigns. If you are installing a scenario, just drop the scenario file into the Scenarios folder. If you are installing a campaign, just drop the campaign file into the Campaigns folder. They will then show up in the scenarios or campaigns menus of the game, right alongside the base game scenarios or campaigns (custom scenarios and campaigns don't get any special section to themselves).
      As for installing mods, just drop those into the data folder. The data folder is always in the main game installation folder, making this a little less convoluted. But there is still one complication, and that is that you will want to create a subfolder in the data folder called 'z'. I suppose you could actually call it whatever you want, so long as it stats with 'z'. The reason has to do with load order I believe. The contents of the data folder are loading alphabetically, and if the mods aren't in a 'z' folder then they won't get loaded into the game in the right order to work properly. The mods will then apply to all of your scenarios and campaigns automatically without you needing to do anything else once you start the game (another reason why it's good to keep them in a subfolder, in case you want to remove some mods later on without worrying about deleting base game data).

    Hey don’t diss burning taxi.
    It’s the one time insurgent can get together, sit around and sing songs, pray, celebrate with 3rd world fireworks (aka shooting AKs into the sky) and smoking and taking all those drugs your supposed to before going off to fight the Americans.
    Good time Burning Taxi

    Hello sir.
    Im thinking about buying a basic Combat Mission Battle for Normandy, and i want to ask - is it worht it ? Well 60$ in Poland where I am from is not that small money to spent :)
    I played a demo few years ago and main problem that i had with CM was that it wasnt been working that well (especially camera movement etc), is that have changed in engine version 4 ?
    Curenttly im playing graviteam tactics mius front and i think its a great game as well, just the presentation looks very difrent.
    Regards :)

    • @usuallyhapless9481
      @usuallyhapless9481  3 роки тому +1

      Things like the camera movement haven't changed. The demo is still up though- you can always try that again to see if any changes at your end have had an effect (new hardware etc). Battle for Normandy is coming to Steam this year and then it'll be subject to Steam sales, so it might be worth holding off until then.
