Remember when that old 45 came out to Israelite. Boys from Kalgoorlie brought it down. Shack belongs to an old mate Peter Spur. Spent alot of time out there years ago. Even the old case tractor out the back belonged to my dad. Planning a trip from Vic back over there to show my kids where there dad grew up.
Hey Cam, I love watching your channel as I sit here and dream of all the places I won't get to. Great to see you are living your best life. Enjoy the journey and take care x
Another quality adventure video Cam, well done to you and the guys! The fuel consumption differential was surprisingly low. Also can’t beat a quality homemade pizza 🎉
Great trip Cam. I have driven past the Baxter cliff twice and have never thought to explore that area. Really interesting fuel stats between vehicles. Also, big thank you Tiff and Cam for the Oricom UHF. It is awesome. I have thrown my old Uniden out 😂.
Got bogged in a salt pan at Israelite Bay in 96 or so, when I was working at Fraser Range on the Eyre Highway. We spent all day trying to dig it out, then decided to abandon and head down to the beach in the other vehicle. We found a couple of campers, who had about 1000m of long line main line they'd found. So we hooked up all 3 vehicles to the bogged unit and pulled her out! Great save folks, it would have cost me a few thousand to take a machine down there to drag it out.
@@WildTouring It was them and us, not another soul around. We were about 4 hours drive south of where we were working at Fraser Range. Very lucky. Beautiful place though.
Love your episodes my guy. I recently put a big part of my savings towards buying a new van and renovating it; I know most of these tracks are 4wding but nonetheless you have inspired me to live an adventurous life. I'll have to use the dirt bike for some of these areas. Thanks mate!
Great trip guys, Loved the old telegraph station and the buildings. That history is just amazing imo. Thanks for the video, really enjoyed that series.
Nice little trip ...thanks for the effort in letting all of us follow along. I just looked up a your subscribers now and noticed its jumped a hell of a lot since i last recalled. Well Done.
Fantastic trip, love the facts n figures at the end, the pizza maker is a bit lush. Sharing meals is the best way to travel n be economical with space n food. Keep up the awesome work
Hi Cam (and Tiff…..I’m sure she’s is the driving force behind you) Great little trip series. 👍 You guys are killing it on YT - I’m sure it’s only a couple months back that you passed 50k subscribers and now YT is showing you are currently at 133k. Wow ! Cheers
Would be interesting to see a start to finish planning video of one of your trips mate. How much fuel, water etc for one of these type trips and any online/offline resources you use to get prepared. It's one of the biggest things for me and family not doing more trips like this. Appreciate the content as always!
Pleased to see that I'm not the only one who's anxl about packing set up and trip prep. Another great episode. I've only been out as far as Point Malcolm so am really enjoying this series. Appreciate the stats and info portion - I'm into that stuff. Fisheries Road was still closed last I heard.
Cheers mate 👍🏼 It’s all open at the moment, there is an alert for lane closures/road works on the shire of Esperance website for widening, but the road is open. And we didn’t come across any road works as we passed through - so I think they’re a little slow to remove the alerts 🤷♂️
Shish Cam, you boys are either Whipped, or very in touch with your feelings. Going home a day earlier. 😂😂😂 Last night is a off camera big night 😉😉🤣🤣🤣. Great trip, Cheers Mark...
Cam, can I suggest you have a look at the power tail gate conversion. It’s great and adds another 50mm height when opened up. Not too hard to install in your drive way. Great place and great ep
Cheers mate! Yeah have seen the kit, there’s a sweet spot between clearing my head on the tailgate, but then also clearing the awning when it’s open without mounting the awning crazy high on its brackets. I’m just sneaking in between those two limitations so I wouldn’t want it any higher!
It’s a 1200w appliance, so it draws 100a at 12v. A 15 minute cook (10 minute preheat, 5 minute cook) would draw approximately 25ah. Subsequent pizzas (5 minutes each) would be roughly an additional 9ah each.
I am very keen to know how much battery (and inverter) power was needed for the pizza machine please. I get nervous using my pizza machine at home on mains, let alone on battery 😮
This pizza oven is 1200w, (100a at 12v). Takes 10mins to preheat and 5 mins to cook the first pizza- which is around 25ah. Second, third, fourth pizzas if you were banging them in one after the other for 5 mins each, would be about another 10ah for each one. That’s a super rough estimate 👍🏼
On the charger topic at the start. I think you have the victron dcdc from memory. Best to swap it for a better one. Speaking from experience unfortunately 😢
Couldn’t disagree more with you on that one! I pay full retail for their gear and have absolutely nothing to do with them, but I’ve always found their gear to perform really well. And I think their price point and specs make them probably the best bang for buck! Definitely interested to hear what issues you’ve had though?
@@WildTouring don’t get me wrong I love victron and 90% of my system is victron and love it. But as for their Orion charger, it gets way too hot and derates. I’ve seen the blue cover reach 64 degrees on mine after 30 mins of driving. Have you checked what your charger is putting out after 30/60 mins of driving? Mine starts at 30a and works its way back to 22a over an hour. It’s a pretty well published issue online, people even make fan kits for them to cool down. I had two of them, but swapped one out for Redarc and still smell the Orion charger every time it get hot. I’m hanging out for their updated 50a Orion charger that’s not quite released yet. Initial testing shows it only gets to 40 degrees so that’a a step in the right direction
Done this trip in January, Filling up at condingup,to twilight cove out to eyre highway( cocklebiddy) I used 110l diesel in a 79 series, 4days in total, track was closed from rain but made it so much more fun
Have you got a Starlink for these trips? Worth thinking about for anyone going to these remote locations where telephone communication is limited or non existent.
Great content as usual. Is your navigation unit Garman? is it reliable? Does it use Hema maps?. We have had 2 Hemas and have had trouble with them both ..never again. Safe travels
Yeah I’ve recently been using the Garmin Overlander. First one was faulty and was replaced, the replacement unit has been brilliant and I can definitely recommend it. Yes uses Hema maps. I’ve also had a few bad experiences with Hema devices and wouldn’t buy another one. Great mapping, but their hardware has always let me down.

I was a bit hesitant with the poly tank but ended up going one in my 200. Has been awesome, see if you can wait for it if its only 6mths away.

Cant you spray or paint on a rubberised coating on that storage shelf ?
Hey Cam. What mileage are you getting in your cruiser on these trips without the van vs with a van?
Here's a tip for your rubber mat mate. No more nails. ;)
Hi mate. Great Video. Interested in the pizza cooker. How many amps does it use to cook a pizza in 5 minutes??
It’s a 1200w appliance, so it draws 100a at 12v. A 15 minute cook (10 minute preheat, 5 minute cook) would draw approximately 25ah. Subsequent pizzas (5 minutes each) would be roughly an additional 9ah each.
