  • In this episode of the Challenge Mark has to use end tackle, baits and rigs he would have used in the late 80's/early 90's when he first started carp fishing. Would the primitive tackle halt his progress in episode 17 or will he achieve his first pass in over 9 months.
    Fox Fishing TV is home to a huge collection of carp fishing videos. With clips and films ranging from, The Challenge with Mark Pitchers and Chilly’s Vlog to all the very latest product videos and Free Carp Fishing DVD’s at Fox Fishing TV we have carp-related content covered. Fox International is one of the world’s biggest carp fishing tackle manufacturers, supplying well over 3000 products to carp anglers who require quality fishing tackle that is up to our exceptionally high standards. Items such as bivvies, bedchairs, rods, reels, luggage, right the way through to end tackle like hooks, hooklinks and swivels. We hope you enjoy our videos and if you do please like, share and comment.

    Absolutely brilliant. Caught my first carp at Cuttle Mill was about 4lb and I was 11 in 1985 with my Grandad. I recall a photo being taken and I was wearing some horrendous double denim outfit. I really think you should have grown a mullet for full old school effect.

    very good Mark and Harry this is how we used to fish, i think you have proven that we don't need to over complicate things, and you don't need thousands of pounds worth of tackle. Harry should have got you a blue sun lounger though and a standard 50 inch brolly with sides probably the best challenge yet well done guys.

    Still have those bit alarms 😅 don't get to fish as much as I use to as I moved away from the UK but heading back soon and gunna break out all the gear and get out on a local lake I haunted every day of the week in school summer holiday. Can't wait, great to see videos like this gives me hope the older gear is still producing 🤣

    Well that has been one of the best things I have seen for a while, present company accepted. Took me back years to that time stripped Argos sunloungers and dodgy sleeping bags. On a rainy Sunday that has proper cheered me up, and just reinforces that you don't need all this stuff we have today, although it makes thinks easier. Proper carping and you can see how much it meant by your faces coupled with an iconic water.

    Fantastic vid love the laughter you put into what you do the bed and sleeping bag were so funny. I remember my bivvy went over the top of a brolly big heavy canvas thing warm but you had to contend with the brolly pole right in the middle. Have watched three of theses challenges so far enjoyed all of them pity we can't have something like this on TV look what it did for mr Wilson !

    Great vid, just goes to show Des Taylor knew a good swim when he saw one!
    Seriously though leads on to the following clear conclusion: there have been no significant advances in carp tackle and techniques for 25 years.
    Ok make it 20 then you take in the grange (first widely used "active" bait? - red fishmeals where already around 25yrs ago) and the hinged stiif rig. Game over carp fishing was optimised 20 years ago!

    That tackle really takes me back . The mini microns , I drooled over them too when I was 16 the £20 or whatever seemed like a fortune to me lol . The rifs were simple but worked and the double figure carp were massive in my eyes back then , I remember catching the biggest in my local lake on rigs like that back then " LUMPY AT 20lb 4oz lol . Them were the days ;-P

    • @fox_international
      @fox_international  6 років тому

      They can be easy but equally very hard as the fish are so pressured. As Mark said in the video he got the timing spot on. If you look at the catch reports from there at the moment it is not throwing up nearly as many fish as it did on Mark's session.

    Drennan super specialist Size 6 tied to 10lb maxima with a knotless knot.
    Weights were acrap lead melted into a 17mm socket, with wire from a coat hanger and a swivel pushed in as the lead set hard. Used to set 2 float stops around 10 inches apart with the weight in the middle as my "shocker " rig.
    Bait would consist of tesco value bread and sweetcorn put in the blender with vanilla and coconut flavours from the home baking section.
    Never doubted it back then and it caught no end of carp but now ...........
    .....
    Well I've been brainwashed 🤣🤣
