Hey thanks so much and thanks for listening. This just made my day. This video is super old, relatively speaking - these tests resulted in a Pocket Operator/LSDJ combo album: disposableplanet.bandcamp.com/album/batteries-per-minute which is free to listen on Bandcamp
Thanks, this was just a test. I completed an album of chiptune-infused hip hop instrumentals with a setup of a DMG original GameBoy synced to a PO-32 and a PO-33. you can check it out here: soundcloud.com/disposableplanet/sets/batteries-per-minute
I love this beat! where can I get a GB flashcart? I bought LSDJ years ago and always used it in emulators. i have po-33 and i'd like to sync with my original gameboy. actually that gba is pretty dope a well where can i get one like that?
using a four way link cable from eBay and an adaptor I snagged from Catskull Electronics. Then just set the right settings in LSDJ so it outputs an analog sync signal to the PO. If you browse through the other comments on this video I believe i explain more in depth - apologies its been a while since i made this video- thanks for listening!
please explain this setup there arent many resources that explain how to sync PO's with GBA. I tried using the headphone adapter but that gave me no results. Do you have to use that gbc thing?
So you need to use a GB link cable connected to a GB link to 3.5mm adapter to go from the link port on the GBA SP to the PO (if you have the parts you can also make your own cable) Set LSDJ to be the leader/master of the analog sync at 0C (12) ticks. Make sure your groove adds up to 12. Set the PO to analog in, stereo out. It’s been a while since I made this so check the link at the bottom of this comment for a better example. There is more info in the comments of this other video of mine including where you can get the cables(Catskull Electronics) if you decide to buy them. ua-cam.com/video/1Jgs_KO_9E4/v-deo.html
What version of lsdj did you use to sync the GBA with the PO?, I ask this becouse i haven't been able to sync my classic GBA with lsdj goomba and a po 33, the link cable works just fine so after some searching i saw in the lsdj wiki that "Goomba doesn't support the Gameboy Link port, even on GBA hardware." I would be very grateful if you could help me :c
I believe it was LSDJ 6.9.0 stable. I don't know much about LSDJ in goomba so I am guessing you are running it off a GBA flash cart not a GB flash cart. You may want to try a GB flash cart designed for the original gameboy/gameboy color and just have regular LSDJ running the way the GBA intended to be backwards compatible instead of emulating it off a GBA cart.
So you're using the pocket operator as a drum machine and the gba as a lead synth? So cool btw, also the groove is damn fine, I expected it to be kinda lame considering the hardware involved, yet it really gets a nice lo-fi vibe from it
Timofey Samokhin Catskull electronics has the GBC link cable to 3.5 mm adapter and the link cable (4 way DMG to GBC) is from eBay. You can also look up how to make your own analog sync cables in the LSDJ manual.
Every time I’m looking up chiptune stuff I end up coming back to your channel lol! This is really cool man

Limitation breeds creativity I guess.
Where you buy connector?
I was wondering that too🤔
