As Bill would say, Alert the Catholic Church; it's a miracle! He just did a green Camaro piece, January 2024, and he had ZERO complaints about the weather!
This first generation ML has aged surprisingly well. I think it may be collectable in the future due to the historical significance of being the first mass market Benz suv.
How many miles and what all have you had to replace like consistently? I have a VW Jetta MK5 and I know to watch for the Vacuum Pump every 90k miles or so
I've owned two of these models previously and ml320 as well. They're the best reliable SUVs ever built in that era. Now I have a w164 ml350 4matic facelift. Merc is the leader of suburban SUVs
I absolutely loved these back in the day - still do, as a matter of fact - but I don't think I've ever heard about a truly sound ownership experience with them. Always tiny issues here and there, and for many that were neglected, they really added up over time. It's so rare finding one kept this well these days. I'd personally still love one, but my itty bitty C-Class serves my daily needs more than well enough!
Wow, this thing is gorgeous! I'm excited for the person who ends up getting this thing! This is probably the preferred interior color for Florida, but I really wish it had the black leather, haha.
76 in the morning in late November is something a lot of people would love. I'm not one of them. Give me a winter that hits 0 or sub-zero a few days a year, and where the ground stays frozen for months, and I'm happy. None of that 40-below shit they get in Minnesota and Alaska, thanks...just a normal winter that at the very least kills a lot of bugs and makes spring something to rejoice over.
Bill you a wild boy. Every episode can count on you saying something totally off the wall. I'd love to be at a dinner party with you and hear you really get loose.
I've a 2005 ML270 the only problem with diesels is that the injector clamp bolts fail resulting in exhaust fumes leaking and getting into the cabin but apart from that the car is reliable and good especially on long journeys
Love our ML500. Great power. Just drove my son in laws 'new' ML320....I was pushing it but was lacking the V-8 prowess. My gearhead mentor years back: "Theres no replacement for DISPLACEMENT".
Bill, I have to disagree with you, I think women were insane already LONG before the M-Class came along! This is a beautifully preserved later example, just gorgeous. Wish they were still made with body on frame construction!
When I drove our 2002 ML500 into the Tuscaloosa Alabama Mercedes Factory where she was born, I think she shed a tear of emotion. Or maybe the fuel pump was leaking again. Ha ha only kidding....been a great rig we love it !
I like that little command infotainment system. A lot like the system in my 2006 Lexus ES330. It folds down and you can stick a cd in behind it. But mine doesn’t beep at you if it’s down while you’re driving lol. Also it’s a touch screen and super easy and intuitive to use. I love the system. I think it’s better than the modern Lexus infotainment system lol
Great video as always. Just to note, I'm pretty sure W163s didn't have telescopic steering adjustment, unless that was only the case for the pre-facelift.
I gotta agree with Bill, chicks kinda ruined these small SUVs for me from this, the Cayanne, X-5 and RX350. They're still cool cars, but they almost automatically have a female attached stigma to them now.
imyanigmw sometimes (not in pearl white...) you can SUV these up by speccing aggressive A/T tires and/or a slight lift. This vehicle could look better in matte black for example.
imyanigmw what have women done? Like uh they never did anything to you... the only men I see driving the cars you’ve mentioned are driven by middle age sexist male lawyers. So I guess you’re a middle age sexist male lawyer hm?
Can you tell me if the side mirrors are motorized or manual movement for valet parking or tight parking situations...I had a valet push the passenger side mirror in manually but wasn't sure if there was a button that did it or it is ok to do it that way. It look like the mirror was coming apart when I tried to manually push it back to it's original position. Thanks for any help on this.
Some are motorized / fold in. Way to know: on center console locate mirror adjustment round flat joystick. To its immediate left & right side are there 2 buttons or just 1 each side ? If one, no folding mirror. If 2 yes & button further back on L Folds in & R Folds out.
When he said “Alert the Catholic Church” at 10:00, I thought he was about to make a joke about how priests could use the cargo cover to trap children inside.
Chris n Cars the original one probably cracked somehow. Car might have backed into a pole, a trash can or dumpster of some sort. You can easily tint the mismatched one or swap them out. It’s such a mint car still.
@@briantracy1324 $2000.00 for a price of junk. To get something nice you have to pay. I see the $2000.00 dollar ones as well and then you have to spend $5000.00 for neglected repairs. I wish I can buy them like this one in the video for 2K.
In our little rural artesan Andulucian village this is 'the' most common car,,,only about 1,600 population but easily twenty to thirty of these at least! All beat up and covered in dust but defied reliability concerns mostly because they see independent dealers not Merc ones,,,interesting,,,!
Always buy the automatic transmission MLs Why? If its a manual diesel and if its specially that 5 cylinder 2.7L engine i bet that i was used to carry some kind of trailer for a good part of its life making a huge possibility that the chassis could be cracked and thus the reason the person is selling it
I would see these in 2010, 2011 they would be beat up like a NYC yellow cab. A spare tire on the back, cloudy headlights and a broken tail light with blue smoke puffing out the tailpipe.
We I'll exchange jars of weather is send you a jar of rain and wind and cold you send me some heat all we got to do is place an open jar on the window cell
Earlier had the more dependable (but noticeably less powerful) M112 V6, and the transmissions aren't _that_ bad. At least the 5 speed. Easy-ish fixes if you follow the web for help, don't just follow the dealership and actually change the trans fluid
No, Special Edition means it looks and feels much better inside because of better quality materials used. I have one Special Edition, it's just prettier inside.
Nope. It is the case when "special edition" is more than just a label. First of all, only last year of production could be special edition which means that most common isues were fixed. Special editions come with special rims and roof bars, silver grille, footsteps, usually get all or almost all interior options possible. I've had one, drove it for a year and 40k miles. Hadn't had a single problem.
What happened to the Prelude video? For the love of God did the snowflakes get it removed...? If so Sir please just upload it again. I was enjoying watching it and listening your marvelous politically incorrect rants.
If it hasn't had the $7,000.00 service to replace the original balance shaft assembly in that 3.5l v6 the engine is a hand grenade with the pin pulled...
SO!! 2005 was the "first" SUV Mercedes offered?? Strange!! because I owned a !999 Ml 320 followed by a 2002 ML 500 I suppose they were really just sedans then ?? Cmon Man..By the way I now own a 2994 ML 350 so I have another sedan ? Lets go Brandon
4 years ago I watched this video out of curiosity. 4 years later I own an ML of this generation without expecting it. Appreciate your videos!
Same! I have this exact car now, year and all except it's black
My favorite topic is by far Bill complaining about the Florida weather in each video.
Not the 9mm/drugs you can store in the compartments or birds trying to attack him?

W163 is the best ML series. All later produced will not come close to the first generation ML
This first generation ML has aged surprisingly well. I think it may be collectable in the future due to the historical significance of being the first mass market Benz suv.

Best ever Suv in that era, what a torque monster with decades of reliability and built like a tank
you learn something new everyday, would never have thought this to be a body on frame.

Women in Romania have exactly the same ideology. They think that if they drive SUVs, they are more attractive to other men.
