Africa has the largest football market in the world, Weah, Drogba, Etoo etc did a lot to bring international football to Africa. Chelsea's success in the past two decades has made it one of the most popular teams on the Continent. Recruiting directly up and coming talent from Africa and SA will create a fan base for Chelsea that will dwarf other teams in the EPL, the merchandise and marketing potential is unlimited. Whereas the older teams like Man U and Liverpool have an older demographic and cannot compete with the demographics in the emerging markets. Africa 19yrs, SA 31yrs and Europe 44yrs, with those being average ages. Chelsea's management is clearly working on a different level than the rest of the league with their project which is why these young superstars are finding it so attractive.
AFCON is the problem. Losing players in the middle of the season for a month is a major turn off. June/July should be proper time for AFCON.

There really no need for cynicism concerning the new youth manager. You know nothing about him or the plans that Chelsea have. Neil Bath did not make Chelsea's academy great. He did a great job. There's a difference. If he could not adjust to suit what we wanted, you find someone that can. I wish this new guy all the best. The structure is there, the coaches are there so he should do well.

I have to say I like the size we're adding to the team. A few big, physical profiles is something we have lacked for a long time.
I don´t know much about Veiga but I do like his height and looks very good on the ball. We really needed more height so we can be dangerous at corners, freekicks again and defending corners, freekicks aswell. Good move aswell to hire someone to look at the African market aswell.

I will say this. I am disappointed as well that after being taken for the Calafiori RIDE. Then, to know Arsenal is the one who wins in signing him is a smack in the face. However, seeing we NEVER even offered the player, I am not entirely sure we were all that interested. At the end of the day, I am like you. I really just want to see this team back where it belongs. At the TOP of the table!!! Marescu knows way more about this game, recruiting and then negotiating the terms with those players that fit his vision of the Chelsea project. I think this is the stance we should ALK take. Let's be open-minded to what he's doing. To be perfectly honest, things have been very unstable around here for awhile and maybe this reset is just what Chelsea needs. Of course, it is perfectly fine that we have our own thoughts and opinions on who we would like on our club as well as how we would like it to be run. However, rather than simply pick apart every move that the club is making, why not realize that they hired him because they believed in his vision, so why can't we? GO BLUES!!!

What must be done eventually should be done immediately.
This ownership group had a vision and has put a strategy in place. People feel like 2030 is light years away for this mantra we’ve heard. If we are planning to actually be winning major trophies and sustainably competing for those trophies year over year, they must get their pieces in place now. 2030 is right around the corner.
Ultimately, none of us truly know if this strategy will be successful. But, they are making moves and seem to be 100% committed to executing their strategy, so I will continue to support their efforts.
We must finish top 4 this season though. So, the pressure is on.
NiiNii City's academy is just as good as ours now. Where we were different is that we regularly sold our talents while other tried to use their talents. I do not see why talented players coming through won't be highly coveted by clubs across Europe still. The academy doesn't start at the U19s you know. So if you start now, those younger age groups can be developed the way we want them to be.

This is simple in my head, differ with me if you will. Fair enough…
You can either buy a prime 24-28 yr old for 60m-100m and (1) keep him during and after prime accepting he will lose value and become an asset value loss, (2) sell him at 29-32 for 20-30% of what you bought him for again at an asset value loss; or you could use those 60m-100m and buy 5-10 very young players that will very very very likely increase in value over the years. Those players will either increase in quality and belong to the first team or be sold AT A PROFIT later on.
And before you object telling me that it is not very very likely that an 18-21 year old increases in value, let me tell you that it is almost always always always the case that the value of an 18 year old INCREASES when he’s 20-24 ish around there. Even average players will be worth more at 25 than they were at 18. So again, every 18-21 or so year old players will very very very likely increase in value over the years regardless of whether they end up playing for our first team or not.
Whether you like the medicine our Club is getting is irrelevant l. The fact is it’s good for our club value. That being true doesnt necessitate agreement from the fans, it just is true. Deal with that as you may.
this guy seems to be Rudiger before he met Tuchel. He is very aggressive and too eager to slide his man. In the EPL he will have to adapt or be a flop cz that can be a serious weakness since we face counter attacks almost 80% of games. I will watch him closely but so far he has everything in possession but obviously his height doesnt make him fully press resistant but if he learns to be simpler in his actions thats an easy one to improve. Out of possession its only the slide tackles that i know for sure will be a weakness in his game. Look forward to how these players fit into the bigger scheme of things which is a WINNING team.
