I see a couple things that inspired this show Steven universe, my hero academia, kill la kill, Gurren lagann, so many show I see while watch this hope hbo max keeps this show going
I've seen the three episodes and I loved it I like how it's kind of taking the monsters university approach where they say that you don't have to pigeon hole yourself into committing to one thing and that there are multiple avenues to explore in life especially if a dream you wanted to accomplish doesn't end up working out
I hope this show lasts a long time (like five seasons would be great) and that this show won’t hesitate to kill the more evil villains like other shows have (Kipo Season 3 being the worst offender!)
I don't need the heroes to kill people in anything I watch, if it happens organically, fine, but I don't need any weird over the top edginess that tries to make a case for the death penalty. On the other hand, I definitely agree that this feels like a show that would benifit from a lot of seasons (and episodes), I really hope we get multiple tournament arcs and a whole gallery of cool recurring rivals!

Theee episodes so far and the show is proven to very good. The animations, the actions, the environment of the show world and the characters is so good. And the decision to move it from Cartoon Network to Adult Swim was a great choice to do cause this show is definitely meant for a slightly older audience and would more than likely be overshadowed due to CN horrible way of scheduling. Give the show a chance to be renewed for more than 1 seasons.

I’d mostly say that “American Anime” can sometimes seem to be better is because there is just so much anime out there and is a much, much larger and much, much older category than “American Anime” so inevitably there’s going to be alot of stinkers. Plus American shows with this style have some rather… divisive ones in the mix.

It gives the message that a dream shouldn't be this all or nothing thing that takes presidence over everything else like a lot of anime tend to stir towards. That it's ok to put down when it's not working out and explore something else.

I'm gonna have to downvote the video solely for the implication that it's better than anime or that anime should try to live up to Invincible Fight Girl even though IFG is full of anime tropes filtered through a western lense. Like i agree that Western Animation has needed to learn from Japanese Animation for a long time now and blending styles is great, but specifically American Animation can't live up to Anime, it can barely live up to French Animation sometimes. I'm pretty sure Walt Disney once said Animation is for everyone, and this was universally understood for a long time, but at some point that understanding just flipped and we got the persist current day concept of Animation being only for children. We had scary stuff in Early Disney, controversial stuff in Looney Tunes, smoking in Flintstones, traumatizing stuff in 80 animated films and so on, but then all of a sudden everything had to be sanitized for children, like to a crippling degree for the medium. Everything had to be safe and colorful and happy for Animation in the modern last 20 years, all edges slowly sanded off. You couldn't make something like Watership Down today, it would get to sanitized. Saying that IFG somehow fixes anime is a reductive argument cause IFG is just as safe and sanitized as most other things from the States.
I love how jumpy it is and the look on some character's faces when they are really feeling something, especially anger! It's definitely American with an Anime flavour (Avatar-ish)! American Anime, AmericAnime is Awesome to me!
I've had my eye on this for a while now since I first saw the trailer. I'll wait till the entire season is out before binging it since I hate waiting on weekly releases 😅

Sadly, we were not charmed by the first two episodes and will not continue watching. We expected a hero's journey kind of story, with the group of ex-heroes joining the main character by the second episode. I recognized many anime tropes and had hoped the show would get better in the second episode, like many anime do after the initial episode. Alas, it was not to be and we both agreed to skip it and find something else to watch until something of interest began on Toonami.
I haven't watched the show yet but from what you described it sounds like a funny but brilliantly written show that is like a realistic potrayal of living in a cartoon/anime like world.
This is not an anime, anime is made in Japan cause if you're going by that logic then avatar the last Airbender and teen titans 2003 are anime as well cause they are anime inspired.

Sir, how high are you? Like really, maybe dragon prince is a goodish (not really, s4 sucked) but most American anime like twilight of the gods either sucks or is none stope slurring. American anime is very mediocre
I wouldn't even call dragon prince American Anime, even twilight of the Gods is just more its own thing, not anime themed. I'd say like Blood of Zeus is the peak example of modern american anime. but when I said I just don't like what anime itself is doing its really more about them.
@ anime is killing it this year, we have stuff like Dan da Dan, and the ranma 1/2 reboot which both blow things out of the water, granted ranma is a reboot, I haven’t really watched much of kaniku man origins but the first episode was fantastic. Wind breakers is another example of a really strong anime, nolonger allowed in another world and delicious in a dungeon are both excellent call backs to classic adventure anime like slayers and orphan. How can you compare western anime to instant classics like any of the stuff I just listed. I’m sorry, but when I hear western anime I’m instantly thinking of f tear trash like twilight of the gods and some of castle venia. I’d agree for like a steven universe or ok ko as being good, but I wouldn’t say their better than any of the stuff that came out this year

Ranma's story was what i really liked about anime back in the day. The reboot is very nostalgic.
