    Unfortunately in today’s world we found it necessary to take some steps to increase security on our rig. We feel a lot better about leaving our rig and and doing those random overnights at Walmarts and Cracker Barrel’s. Have you considered a secure camera on your rig?

    We install a ring doorbell by our door and Blinks cameras on the remaining sides. This allows us to have "eyes" on our propane tanks and the generator/ E-bikes that is on the back bumper. I can say we have traveled about 10k miles and have never lost a camera. If I10 in Texas and I35 in West Virgina can't knock them off, then they are not coming off.
    One side note, you may want to put some sealant where you installed the screws, to stop water from entering and delaminating your wall.

      Good call with the Blinks cameras too. I-10 is a good litmus test. lol

      Thanks! Good idea with the blink cameras. We usually park our bikes either behind or under the fifth wheel and even though we lock them you know how people are. Thanks for watching and commenting! - Mike and Shelley

      Also . I was going to put a bead of silicone around it but there is a foam "backer" on the solar plate and the camera itself to keep water out so I'm going to give it a few rain storms to see how it does. I might have to seal it, just not sure yet.

    Thanks for the video, I didn't know that ring made the solar backer plate, pretty cool. These are good adds...ya too bad you have to have these, but you are right, can't be too safe these days. I like the wireless mic. sounds really good!

      Yeah we leave our rig parked at our full time spot when we are at the house and we really want to k own what’s going on when we aren’t there. Plus we have had stuff stolen from our site at other campgrounds. It’s a shame but that’s the reality. 👎

    👋🏽 Mr. Mike 😊..Say 👋🏽 to Mrs. Shelley for me.. Apologies for missing some videos..Being messing around with good old Bob The Builder 😂😂..Nice job with the Ring 🚪 🔔 installation 👍🏽👍🏽.. I've been considering getting one of those to go along with my security cameras..I was kind of nervous about messing with wires.. BUT..that type of 🚪 🔔 seems pretty simple.. Thanks so much for sharing..I appreciate it ❤️🙂

    Hi Confers.
    I’ve really enjoyed your videos! I just did my dinette table - thank you for that how to.
    Regarding the Ring - was there a reason you didn’t mount it on the door itself?
    Please update once you travel.
    Thank you.

      Great question. My original thought was to put it to the left of the door but the awning arm was in the way. The door is thinner than the wall so I chose the right side of the door.

    I shutter every time I think about drilling into the side of the rig. We probably could use one of those though.

      Yeah. It’s always scary but I didn’t think the 2 sided tape would hold.

    Haven’t read thru all the comments yet: You might want to put some sealant in the screw holes and reattach.

    • @campinwiththeconfers
      @campinwiththeconfers  11 місяців тому

      I have thought about that. There is a “backer” on the solar bracket and the camera itself to keep water out when you attach it to your house. I am keeping an eye on it and will seal it if it looks like it might be getting water behind it. Great idea though.

  • @jonappelfeller5161

    I really want to add one but Jon is not sure we need it

    • @campinwiththeconfers
      @campinwiththeconfers  11 місяців тому

      Better to have it and not need it, then need it and not have it. I’m not so worried about when I am in my camper - it’s more about when I am away from it.

    Not drilling holes in my RV
    I would use double sided tape to secure the mounting plate, and remove the camera while traveling on the road

    • @campinwiththeconfers
      @campinwiththeconfers  10 місяців тому

      I’m not sure if the tape would strong enough. It crossed my mind but also worry about someone taking the camera.
      Thanks for the comment!

    Did you drill through the fiberglass and put the screws in it just a starter hole and let the screw finish punching through the fiberglass?
    Will you take your ring camera off when traveling down the road or are planning on leaving it attached?
    Were you going to add any silicone to it around the edges?
    The wife and I enjoy watching your channel gave us some good info on Ohio State Campgrounds.
    They are some of the nicest we've seen.
    Thanks

    • @campinwiththeconfers
      @campinwiththeconfers  11 місяців тому

      Thanks for the comment and for watching our adventures! So for your questions:
      1. I did just did a tiny starter hole for the screws. I'm not sure on the bit size it was the smallest one in the set, you know the one you break all the time. LOL.
      2. I'm going to leave it on for our next trip, its only a few hour drive, just to test it. If it looks like it works loose at all, I will take it off just so I don't lose it going down the road. It's only 2 retention screws but I will leave the little solar base.
      3. I was going to put a bead of silicone around it but there is a foam "backer" on the solar plate and the camera itself to keep water out so I'm going to give it a few rain storms to see how it does. I might have to seal it, just not sure yet.
      Just a side note, I wasn't sure how well the solar panel would work because its so small but it seems to do pretty good.
      I average a loss of 1% a day on the charge. so if that keeps up I only have to charge it every 99 day. Ill take that!
      Thanks again for the questions, comments, and views. We really appreciate it. Hope to see you out there sometime. If you ever see us out be sure to stop and say hello.
