She was complex she was strong (not talking about physical strength) she was smart, rich and the relationship actually seemed realistic. My first drama was boys over flowers and I hated it with passion. The jerk male lead kept getting on my nerves. I stopped watching it after 14 ep and just searched up the ending. It had something I like to call backup boyfriend syndrome. Iontbo was my second drama and got me hooked to kdramas. I was so surprised when people said that bof was great.
i wanna hear a line from the second lead that goes something like this:
"you know what hurts me the most? the fact that im doing anything i can to make him love me instead of you but he chooses you everytime when you do nothing and just stand there without any effort waiting for him to come back to you.....so step up your game and fight for him will you? so i could feel that he's loving someone that deserves him atleast..."
idk i just feel like that line can show that the secondlead really loves the MC and also shows how mature they are and that they want their loved one to be loved by someone who deserves them even if its not them anymore....

I absolutely loved Seo Dan in Crash Landing On You. She is such an interesting and complex character. She portrays a realistic woman. One who isn’t always kind and perfect, one who doesn’t always get the guy. Even though she didn’t get her happy ending, she never considered herself incomplete or discontent. At the same time, it was an arranged marriage. Neither of them really showed any affection (especially Rachel, who was like her mother in expressing love to the people she loved) to each other and Kim Tan breaking off the engagement was his own form of taking control of his own life, which was suppressed by his father and brother. My heart broke for Rachel because hers had to be broken in the first place, but she got to address her issues with her mother and start building a better relationship with her through that experience with Kim Tan.
I disliked Eun-sang so much because she was such a doormat! She allowed the 2 male leads to bully her for most of the series. Very frustrating, plus I liked the second male lead more than the first ML.
kang soojin deserves the whole world. she had an abusive father, a best friend who barely interacted with her; the same best friend she liked and he left her for some girl who showed up out of the blue. jugyeong did what soojin had been trying to do for a year. the only thing soojin did the entire show was expose jugyeong; the girl who ruined her life.
edit; i’m not saying that she didn’t ruin jugyeong’s life. she did. but she had every right to do so. jugyeong was lying to everyone, making everyone love this fake version of her. and when she found out what she looked like, she thought suho didn’t know so she released it. pls watch the show first.

I've always liked second female lead because they're so independent, sophisticated, consistent about about they love but they are portrayed as evil and brat, we need to break the stereotypes.
Why is the second fml displayed as evil? And the second ml always displayed as good and the one letting the girl go? Especially in Heirs and True beauty, both of them(fml) were having a tragic past and they were with the main lead the whole time. Then suddenly some girl shows up and takes the person you've been loving for years. Who wouldn't be sad?
I really love Yukjo didn't turn evil and let her man go, whereas Sunoh was stalking and making Kim Jojo uncomfortable. Also, in the webtoon, Sun oh rings Yukjo's love alarm at the end. Why did they have to cut such a prominent scene?

I don't know about others but I ship second lead female cause they become evil for their love and their is nothing wrong in fighting for your love at least it gives you sense of satisfaction that you tried enough not give up just like that.
Even though most female leads are portrayed as evil, it still hurts more because for second male leads, they often do things unconditionally and at some point, willingly give up pursuing the female lead. Female leads give their everything to be with the man, and when they dont get the only person they ever did anything for, it hurts, because i think we can all relate to living our entire life for someone and still ending up losing them in the end (whether it is a romantic partner or a friend or someone else)

I blame male leads for the villinization of 2nd female leads. In most drama, they encourage the feelings of the girls by doing misleading acts until the female protagonist appears in the scene. On the other hand, is easier to seem kind and nice for second male leads bc they are not direct with their feelings and the female lead never encourage any romantic behaviour or straight foward declines his advances.
