Like a true professional. Always very thorough, well articulated, and well spoken. I may be going down this path in the near future and I must say, you have eliminated 80% of the “intimidating factor” Thanks Kyle. I really do appreciate your content. Hope you stay true to your roots when you reach them million subscribers levels. You deserve the views man.👊
You chose the correct fix bud, nice thorough work. I really like that you don't try to corner cut or BS your way through a project like this. Costs a little more in labor and materials, but is the right way
Thanks for covering all that you do in these videos. I especially like the discussions of parallelism and perpendicularity. Two things I had wondered about but hadn't seen any one on youtube talking about.
Great work! This has been very inspirational to get me to try my hand at some scraping. Thank yo for including mistakes as well so we can see how to handle those.
Love your work. Did the same thing on my lathe about a year ago, came out how I wanted but I was nowhere your level of discipline with documenting the process. Congrats!
I used Moglice on my Saddle ways. Eliminates all the scraping. Only scraping is for oil retention. Devit machine is the rep here in the USA. I also made a new nut and new lead screw which eliminated the shim that was behind the gib.
@Vanover Customs Thank you so much for visually detailing pull scraping on Turcite. I've been trying to find good insight on how steep to hold the blade against the new bearing surface. I'm much more prepared to do this myself on the 40 yr old mill I'm rebuilding. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Muy buen trabajo amigo me puse haber el procedimiento de que quede perfecto y lo importante es que tienes las herramientas adecuadas para hacerlo son cosas que se debe tener mucha paciencia para lograrlo 👏👏👏👍👍🙏
IMO you did an awesome job mailing out the oil grooves, but I would’ve done it after so that there’s less chance of rolling the edge over the grooves and pockets.
I did do it afterwards if you watch the whole video through, I had to redo it so the first time I did it before and the second time I did it afterwards
You had some major issues but with persistence and high standards as your goal you got it done. Will you share your source for the turcite/adhesive? Also will you be making a new acme screw and nut?
I was looking for the containers. I don’t have them anymore, but I believe it’s a Machine Tool rebuilder in Wisconsin should be pretty easy to google. They turcite and the epoxy
Groves were there previously so I copied factory. Your right it will not touch that spot will not wear but everywhere else will evenly. It would only ever be a problem if you crossed the high spot but this will never happen because the it will be in the groove.

Re-doing the epoxy and re-scraping, wow you are really relentess! Ray
Thanks ray

Thanks so much
Nice work.. Nothing wrong with admitting a redo to uphold a high standard
Enjoyed !
Glad you enjoyed it

Absolutely
Thumbs up buddy. A lot of work there for sure.
It sure is. Thx Tom

Yeah, I’ve heard of that product before.
We do it right, because we do it twice! ;) Better to own up and correct it than to make a bad situation worse. Nice work.
Thanks

Nice work Kyle.
I think that you made a good decision. 👍👍
Have a great day.
Thanks Ed

You have done an excellent job of articulating the process IMHO. Where did you learn to scrape? Richard King?
Mostly self taught. Did some scraping w Ron Grundy helping here and there but 95% self taught
i always wondered about using epoxy in this way.
Yeah
Could you get grit imbedded into the turcite ?
I am sure you can. Way wipers are more important on turcite
How did you make sure the turquite did not tetain grit?
I bought turcite
And how
🙌
Thanks

Will you share your source for the turcite/adhesive? Also will you be making a new acme screw and nut?
Check the previous videos and you’ll see that I already made new screws and nuts

@@VanoverMachineAndRepair I must have missed those! Thanks for the info and reply.

Just saying ... If I wanted a surface p[late properly relapped??? .. I would get YOU to do it!!! .
Lol. People do that for a job. I know a guy he is not to expensive
OMG, A beater surface plate ? No no no bro, get the surface plate re-surfaced. happily ever after and all that
Yeah I will
Groves running along the travel is not the best thing. This places will never touch, and the side will wear uneven
