Remembering Begum Akhtar on her 50th death anniversary. Haaziri by

Popularly known as Akhtari Bai Faizabadi, singer and actor Begum Akhtar was exceptional at ghazal, dadra and thumri genres of Hindustani Classical music. To her credit, she has nearly 400 compositions, unmatched by anyone in the field of ghazals.
To commemorate the 50th death anniversary of Begum Akhtar, Lucknow Bioscope is organising a Haziri at the Begum Akhtar Mazaar in Pasand Bagh. The haziri will be performed by Dr. Radhika Chopra, a leading ghazal artist, preserving the legacy of Begum Akhtar. She honed her skills in Thumri, Dadra and Ghazal under the guidance of Padmashree Smt. Shanti Hiranand, a notable disciple of Begum Akhtar. She has been commissioned by The Indian Ministry of Culture to honour legendary figures of the Indian subcontinent, including Ghalib, Kundan Lal Saigal and Begum Akhtar. Dr. Chopra is the recipient of the Ghazal Bahar ‘Begum Akhtar Award 2021’. Dr. Chopra's remarkable skill, melodious voice, and mastery of both Hindi and Urdu have garnered her accolades from audiences around the globe.
