- Indonesia and Malaysia are the main targets for sales of South Korea's 4.5 generation fighter jet called the KF-21 Boramae for the Southeast Asia region. However, it does not rule out the possibility that the KF-21 Boramae will also be purchased by other Southeast Asian countries.

There's a misunderstanding among the people commenting here, but it's important for the KF-21 to be deployed in Korea first, and there are no plans to sell it yet. Even if it gets a 5th generation upgrade, deploying it in Korea takes priority. Whether others will buy it or not is a matter for later.

Though it will proudly be used by my country but I have to say that it has external weapons mounts (it has no internal weapons bay) so it won't be as stealthy as F22 or F35 which have internal weapons bay. Like it was mentioned it is only a 4.5th generation fighter, not a 5th generation fighter.
@@aryogono6338 Just 4,5 G same as Rafale ? Purchasing such a stealth fighter jet also requires adequate human resources & infrastructure readiness to use & maintain it. I'm not sure Indonesia has that readiness. So Rafale jets are realistic for Indonesia now.

Most nations are interested but the most important test has yet to come? , it's the ejection seat mock-up testing , no nation won't buy , if they pass the test w/o a hitch production could start within 3-months.
Not saying that safety is an issue but it's going to be one of the Martin Baler seat. Nothing special nothing risky about ejection test.
@@kbkim6497 Remember production of Boeing -Saab TF-7A Red Hawks it was on it's last major the test in preparing 4 mock-ups in White Sands New Mexico when COVID-19 epidemic struck. Almost 2-yrs was postponed. I believe they using Martin-Baker ejection was used. Of course they will use many high speed CCTV cameras. after evaluating the testing w/o a hitch. It's safe to say within #3 months production could.
@@robertotamesis1783 whats your point? Problem with T7 is not in the ejection seat. It s maneuverbility is worse than expected and they had to adjust SW to deal with Winglock problem.

@@kbkim6497 I'm a industrial design engineer if you want to earn a masters degree you got follow several protocols if you want attract your manager to your product you got to follow a serious of "Gun Chart Testing" before goin into production phase . Just recently British tested their artillery shell will travel more than 60-miles before mass production could start at White Sands New Mexico. Since we are not at war private public stocks are paying for it.

KF-21 is 4.5 Gen. I think Malaysia is more interested in 5th Gen.
Malaysia may choose Turkish KAAN instead. KAAN is developed as a 5th Gen from the beginning.

Kf21 prototype is now a total of 6 units. And Turkey once asked the Korean government to help with avionics and electronic technology, aesa radar technology Korea refused kf21 last model will be upgraded to 5.5th generation

Malaysia invited by turkey to be their partner to create the jet….maybe because indonesia already partnered with south korean on kf-21…and typically neighbouring country won’t buying the same type of jet for some reason maybe safety
If Malaysia doesn't have to, it can be sold to the neighboring country ^^;;
