    Seeing the importance and benefits of hill intervals is great. Pair Keely's vid along with an earlier Pyllars video "Why Runners Should Do More Uphill Intervals" and I think you get the point.

    Keeley,
    I’m running this years, (2022) WS and I’m for Portland. Did you start at the bottom of Saltman and run one mile up one mile down and repeat?
    Is there any long down hills runs you can recommend not necessarily in FP. Gorg or Tillamook?

    • @Freetrail
      @Freetrail  2 роки тому +1

      She did bottom to top three times! Big workout! Bottom gate to Leif is also a good interval length. Saltzman is the best long downhill WS simulator in FP. Yassine has done a big run from Timberline Lodge to Cascade Locks on the PCT. Massive net downhill over about 50 miles I think. Bit it'll be under snow for a while...

    Suggest you put the heat training a bit higher on your priority list. Have lived up here in Auburn for 17 years now and we routinely have 90-100 degree days during the end of June. You will be racing 8-10 hours in these temps, after already having raced 6-8 hours. I assume you're living in coastal Oregon, so you're at a disadvantage in this respect. Regular training runs with extra layers of clothing will help, carefully monitoring vitals--temps, sweat rate, etc. with adequate fluid and electrolyte intake. Good Luck!
