Do NOT shout or say NO when your bird bites you. Ignore it, and walk away yourself, ur put your bird away for a few mins. Come back and pretend like nothing happened. I know so many birds that bite, and then go OUTCH, or NO BITING. It's frustrating, so please do not enforce the behavior.
Stout Shako Yeah, don't make the cage a "cooldown" place, the cage is not supposed to be a bad thing. Just walk away yourself, or put the bird somewhere away from you.
Can’t wait to hear her talk! She’s learning to make different sounds, sooner she will start imitating! Sooo excited for you Ligaya!! Great watching her grow!! Tks Mikey!
Its best not to react when she bites. Do not to say anything or pull back your hand. Any reaction to a bite she will just take it as a reward. TBH she doesn't understand what the word "no" means. Thats why the next time she wants attention she will just bite. But if you don't react she won't bite again because she knows it will get her nowhere.
@@jekjeklaron7008 every now and then he asks her what she sees and then he'll say that phrase. I just think it would be so funny if it just came out randomly. 😄

👦🏻🦜 That's so cute, Ligaya still has mostly her baby voice here. 🧝🏻♀️ I love that little voice mucho. So fun watching these older ones, thanks Mikey.❣Love that girl.🧚🏼♀️
I don't know for sure how well this would work with an African Grey, but something you could do for her in regards to the foraging behavior is to layer the bottom of her cage with newspaper, above the grill. It's what we do with our Macaw. The paper not only catches the food she drops, but she also enjoys digging around in it. Oh, and it makes poop cleaning a lot easier. Another little thing you could do is make little forageables for her. Take some dry foods that she can eat that aren't going to go bad or anything (with our macaw we used nuts before she got so good at it that they bored her, but I don't know african grey diets as well) and wrap them up in crumpled up paper balls that she needs to get open. It's a nice little enrichment thing to add to the foraging. Edit: Also, for songs? Get you some Hamilton, son.
Oh man. I LIVE for these bird vlogs. I can kind of relate to this. I used to have cockatiels when growing up, absolutely incredible! You truly are an amazing bird father😊
Your bird is going through a strength stage-- she is discovering her strength, it will end. If you correct her and train her. These things can last a long time if you do not handle it correctly, I have a 4 month old that is still biting but I believe if I keep training her the correct way she will stop, my mistake was ignoring it and letting her bite me it has become a problem, I suggest teaching her some new tricks! Good luck :D
The scream and leave/ignore reminds me of puppies. I heard when a puppy bites its sibling and that sibling doesn't like it it will Yelp and then leave or ignore. That's how the puppy learned that it's not okay. Makes sense the biter wants attention/play and by ignoring then it goes through their head attention can be given but not by that action. Works with any creature..I've done it with kids.we play but if they do something I warn them. If they continue then the consequence is me leaving
Love listening to you sing to your bird (I'm sorry, I don't know how to pronounce her name). Your love patience and devotion to her is moving and inspiring. I love these vlogs man.
About a month after I taught my African Grey to stop biting I saw her in her cage with one of her legs in her beak then she quickly pulled her leg out and said, NO BITE. So I knew she had gained an understanding of the concept of not biting. The way I taught her not to bite was to put her on my shoulder and wait for her to attempt to bite my ear at which time I quickly moved my shoulder forward, throwing her a little off balance to get her full attention, and I would say NO BITE. It took about two weeks for her to stop.
When she gets older donate all the formula😁 and the yelling method of training doesn't work, they get a fright and bite harder and she makes the cutest sounds😍😍😍
Okay. I am subscribed to your AC channel. But damn, this voice d hours and the love you show to your bird ... I’m subscribed to this channel as well! MORE MORE MORE! 😭❤️❤️❤️😭
I had 4 different kinds of conures and a Quaker parrot and yes everytime they bite, make sure they know they have hurt u. They will understand that it hurts and they won't want to hurt the one they love. Another thing I would do is act really sad, pout and say no, owch, u gave me owchie. And I'd bury my head in my arm, sometimes close to them or a few feet away and make a big sad dramatic scene sometimes laying on the couch and all of them would come to me, pick on my hair or most try to get in my arm where I've buried my face and gives me kisses. They sense when ur sad, my babies, even if I was sad or crying they would come cuddle and try to make u feel better. No matter what they will always love u, even after biting the hand that feeds them lol. Good luck darlin!!
If my memory serves me right, Malaya loved bathing so I'm getting a hunch that she'll have a bird bath tom!😂 And she is well underway to talking fully and clearly...some of the guttural sounds she make would even pass as "bird baby talk" now.😂😂😂
Seriously, ignore it and don’t pull your hand away. If she does bite others right now, don’t let anyone else handle her because she could get hurt by someone’s reaction. Try when she tries to bite you just take a few fingers and hold her beak and say no. Try it.
...is how to step up on your shoulder! 😁 A lot of reason why birds bite, but I'm pretty sure that you definitely know it and how you can avoid her doing it, you know Ligaya more than anyone else. I love how you do a bird parenting, keep it up friend! ❤🐦
She is so cheeky now. I’d like to suggest that you take her to the potty stick as soon as she leaves each meal so it’s a habit and at a time she normally goes poop. Also I noticed at the times she is biting she also has no toys near. She seams to stop when she has something else to bite. Maybe she need to have something to constantly bite to strengthen her young beak? Thanks again far sharing this special baby with us.
Ligaya is sooooo cute! My parakeet, Patricita, learned how to whistle to the song “Generals and Majors” by the group XTC. She also learned to say “Patricita, bruta, bruta, bruta, brut!” Ligaya is anthing but “bruta” (dumb). Patricita was also quite the intelligent little girl. I miss her dearly. Bet she’ll be talking and whistling up a storm soon. My parents’ half moon parrot/conure spoke Greek and Spanish; he refused to learn English and lived for twenty six years. Best of luck with Ligaya!
