Putting Rebecca in the title; the people who made this video know what's up
Yup, too many dudes just come here for that fine piece of meat 🙈
See's Rebeca: Immediately checks the comments.
See's Rebecca's name in description and immediately clicks on video!
She's the only reason I watch.
Being touched by Rebecca should add at least $500 to the value of a book.
I am a simple man. I see a book, I click. Because there is always a possibility...
and I'm just a simple man making my way thru Rebecca Videos like my dad before me.
Being touched by Rebecca should add at least $500 to the value of a book.
I thought the value would drop by $500 since she didn't wear protective gloves.
I would spend 500 less dollars if Rebecca touched it because I’m not a simp
If this guy leans back anymore he’s gonna fall over
Luckily he's got a massive beer belly to act as a counter-weight, otherwise he'd have been on the ground after hearing Rebecca's appraisal value. I'd imagine he got extremely excited seeing copies of his book selling for 16k and leaning back was an attempt at shielding himself from reality.
0:17 Opens case that includes protective gloves, picks book up with hands.
Using gloves actually damages the book if you try to examine it, you need to rub the pages extra to open the pages etc.
If a book is this old it already had the oil from thousands of hands on it, and the oil is needed to open the pages cleanly, and worrying about that is like worrying about someone spitting into the Atlantic Ocean in case it gets too full.
She's an expert, if she needed to wear gloves, she would.
@@bravo2966: Your analogy about spitting in the Atlantic Ocean will be better if the worry is about spit contaminating the ocean.
When Rick goes to sell it:
“Check out these rare pink library stamps, that’s what makes it special “
Typical Rick... getting the items that are of historical value...at as low of a price as he can get them. He should've gone at least $6,000 for that book. This guy just brought Rick a true piece of history...and Rick really cut him down.
Shame on you, Rick!
Did I just watch a video with Rick where he didn’t once laugh at one of his own jokes?!
hahahahahha, gold man, gold, i was trying to figure for ages whats up with his laughter, but failed to observe he does laugh at his own jokes , thx
@jack Rogers everyone knows that, that wasnt the point me and luke were talking about
The camera always shows Rebecca leaving and I'm sure everyone loves that!
If Rebecca had her own show I would watch it.
@@la7dfa she still goes back but you're right. She and her husband have a shop in Philadelphia.
Oh hey Aquatarkus. Last i heard of you, you were clearing the battlefields, killing cardinals, ministers, and men.
Good to see you made it out ok!!
Seeing Rebecca being in this clip appraising Lewis and Clark definitely caught my eye, she's Pawn Stars best expert and knows her stuff and always gives a fair and honest appraisal.
She's an expert but she's not as knowledgeable as the show makes her out to be. They tell her what the customer has brought in before she comes in (and the producers know weeks or months ahead of time). Rebecca simply does research on it before coming in.
@@karyndewit193 I'm pointing out that this person is mistaken about Rebecca's seemingly robust knowledge. Your comment appears to come from a place of fear. What you could actually do is take this newfound information about the show, be grateful, and continue to enjoy watching Pawn Stars. I know I still enjoy it, even though nearly every person that comes in with a product is an actor who is given the product by the producers. And the ones that aren't actors are vetted months ahead of time, with professionals like Rebecca being given the time to research the product themselves.
@@ayoungtricknamedjim5498 coming from a place of fear?? Are you serious?? THAT doesn’t scare me one bit.
She needs her own show!
"Rick, this thing looks like it's been across America."
Hehe! Chumlee made a funny.
Rebecca is a doll! Her excitement and interest in antique books is infectious. I hope she has had some fun in the Powell's rare book room.
Seller: here is the burning bush, as you can see it’s still burning.
Rick: lit item is hard to sell, I’ll give you 7$
Seller : I have a book
Pawn stars : *WE* have Rebecca
I’m guessing your referencing the Army / Hulk line from Avengers.
In which case your should have written ‘ We have A Rebecca ‘
Who else thinks that rebecca is the most gorgeous bookworm ever ??........this guy!!!!
Why do people have to bring looks into the equation on every video with a female
@@colinmcguire3662 why are you being a karen this is america and ill make a statement on whatever i please at least im not being negative......
I like how the case has gloves included, and then they all just ignore them.
That book is long overdue and is accruing library late fees!😂
It would've been hilarious for Rick to mention that during the negotiation!
why put all those gloves in the case, only to let people handle it with their bare hands?
Touching with gloves is more risky and more harmful than touching with bare hands.
No-gloves is the preferred way to handle rare books now. My library hasn't required them (actually, ALLOWED them) since the 1990s. I think the idea is that the gloves are more likely to snag and tear pages, and that is a greater risk than what is normally on a clean set of hands. I've handled a leaf of the Gutenberg Bible (from the same series as the one on another episode) with my bare hands - with full approval from our Rare Books librarian.
@@studogable Exactly. Some gloves leave marks, and when using gloves you're more prone to damaging goods because you can't fully gauge how much pressure you are handling the item.
Yet you're all walking around all day in worn out blue face diapers because that's just the thing to do right? Have fun getting staph infections in your nostrils, recycling your exhaled waste and feeding a substrate with moisture and bacteria.
i'm not asking why they aren't wearing gloves, i'm asking why put that many gloves in the case only to not use them
Here comes the Rebeccanists
Rick: “What brings you in today?”
Customer: “I brought this old book in hoping to meet Rebecca…”
Chumlee with the stare and glare look at the knowledge Rick was talking about hahaha🤣😂🤣🤣
...He blew the entire $4200 on the first spin of the roulette in the Bellagio
Rebecca in title. We click.
Can Rebecca get her own show already? The world wants it.
Rebecca is the oldest book in history. 90% of men in the history of the world married a Rebecca. That's why the divorce rate is so high.
Seller: Here, I have the original Robocop movie suit in mint condition
Rick: I'd buy that for a dollar!
Rick cheaped a very original piece of our Nation's History. How low can he be?
Has gloves in his suitcase, pulls it out with bare hands
Pawn stars know now to put 'rebecca' in title for more views
@@garethroberts9729 thats because you are probably not attracted to her brains and beauty. Smart girls are always more beautiful than average ones.
Might be some really cool stuff in there. Was fun to watch. Great video
Magic trick: At 5:04 your eyes are staring at the middle of the screen, slightly below centre
0:21 I like how it takes a moment for Rick to realize Chum's making a joke.
Guy: I’m asking $16,000
Rick: Best I can do is $16 and I’m taking all the risk
Beautiful and very beautiful show. I wish you health, peace, success and progress in your wonderful work. My greetings.
Rebecca needs her own show.
"He pointed to the gekko on the wall, and the gekko fell off the wall!.."
I like how Chum sits there making witty comments, doing no work, and give eye roll the minute Rick banishes him to the register
Yes she is easy on the eyes all right
5:41 Chum is tired of writing up the sales.
At 3:18 Rebecca stares at the book while the dudes stare at Rebecca.
Always good when the seller is understanding:).
Rebecca? Here iam.
I’m watching this at 2 in the morning and who ever when the guy said he wanted 16,000 almost gave me a hearth atk
It's crazy how much she knows about the entire world of collectible books, it seems like a very interesting world.
She doesn't. They tell her what the customer has brought in before she comes in (and the producers know weeks or months ahead of time). Rebecca simply does research on it before coming in.
@@ayoungtricknamedjim5498 I would imagine that is true, but I also would imagine they didn't select a clueless person to fill this roll. But I get your comment. I would still say that I am guilty of suspending disbelief for the sake of enjoying the show, I get what you are saying.
@@mikeg3439 for sure! My ex worked in a very high up position in one of the largest "reality" TV production companies in the US and UK. She opened my eyes to a whole lot of stuff that goes on.
Most of Pawn Stars "random" people that come into the shop are actually actors. And the ones that aren't are vetted a very long time before the show airs.
Sorry if this kind of messes with the fun of it all. I still enjoy watching the show though. It's fun to try and figure out which ones are the hired actors with pre-determined objects and which are just regular people with objects that the producers have previously researched.
You do know she does plenty of research before the show. All this info didn't come right off the top of her head!!!🤦
thanks for activating the subtitles!!!!
Honestly those adventures back in the day sounds so fun.
Antique book. Historical significance. Latched case. Foam padding. Latex gloves. Handle book with bare hands. Priceless.
I love seeing the faces of people when the expert gives an appraisal around what they're asking, it's like, slow down boy you ain't gettin' that here
We knew so little about the west Lewis and Clark thought they could find living wooly mammoths
I know Clark had him a squaw, she ended up pregnant on the expedition ..
As a kid, I went to a newsagent that sold comics without stamping the front cover. To this day, I thank my younger self for having high standards for my comics.
I wish they would show Rebecca her fan base filled comments.
' You're the best'...as Rick speaks for literally everybody
u know when rick started to explain lewis and clark to chum, chum had that glaze over his eyes he was already gone!lol..maybe off in his mind to his fav video gm" the dark knight "( if there is one) fighting for the excalibre! lol
If Rebecca was around when I grew up I would have definitely loved books. The ones of hers I could carry home from school;-P
they had to put Rebecca's face in the thumbnail so video would be in the trending list
Ricks most common line; "I don't know enough, let me call someone in.."
I like Rick's knowledge of the history behind some of the context of the item
My respect for the producers and their researchers for the show. Without them feeding all the facts to the people in front of the camera, they would know nothing.
"Ex-library is...to use a literary reference- a Scarlet Letter" *laughs at her own joke*
She is amazing, can we turn this into a book show?
I feel like a meme besides Rick scamming everyone should be: "I got it at an estate sale"
im only here for rebecca 😐 i do not care about no book 😭😭😭😭
One of the men in the working party was August Agnew, one of 7 brothers who immigrated from Scotland. He was a very quick witted self educated man who was a well respected gold miner/geologist. His first name is up to debate since not too many records show him on the manifest, He was there as not only manual labor but to be used with his expertise at the time in geology. He made it all the way to the Sierra Mountains in California when the Lewis and Clark Expedition passed by what is now Mammoth, CA. Here is where he left the team and homesteaded a small piece of land that is today called Agnew Meadows. This man is my Great, Great Great Grandfather. I have all the supporting documentation.
Interesting story - great to know your family history - best wishes from the west coast of Ireland...!

I learn more about history here than I do on school😂
No. You don't. You just think you do because it's quick and effortless. It's entertainment.
You had me at 'Rebecca'.
Having worked in a pawn shop as a young'un, I have to say Rick needs to readjust a phrase or two in his lexicon, starting with 'It's a fair price for a pawn shop!' I haven't seen the actual TV show but here I have never heard Rick ever mention they are in a pawn shop. When ever I hit a stubborn person I would say This a pawn shop, not a collectors home. You will never get a fair retail price in any pawn shop, you get a fair cash price for a fast sell in a pawn shop. Maybe for no other reason than they are negotiated in front of TV camera Rick is honest in pricing and making sure he gives the Fair Pawn Shop price. The guy I worked for would dig up his mother to pry the gold out of her teeth.
This guy was reasonable, but most people act like they are doing a favor by bringing their crap in so you can give them cash for it.
Very interesting book. I can't imagine there's a whole lot of them... stamps or not, they bought it for a great price.

“Find out what WE had there.” LOL!
I think the most impressive thing about the US is how young it is, less than 400 years and you have the East cost and 200 years the west, incredible rapid development
@Ellie5621 that was the establishment year, the British had been to the Caribbean and subsequently the East Coast / Florida area from around the 1500-1600, either way it doesn’t hold a candle to the English dominance of some 1100-2000 years old, considerably older if you want to get really technical.
@Ellie5621 firstly you just contradicted yourself, you said you don’t learn about pre 1776 independence, and yet you know less than a non native? American arrogance never ceases to amaze me, 1100 at a minimum is at least 400% more than the US so yes, it is a significant amount, and you seriously just said “and the rest of the world” some ancient civilisations go back 50,000 years or more, what a ridiculous statement to make, the fact that America has the worst education system in the free world just makes any “fact” you make laughable, you learn modern history, and very little about world history if anything! Europeans had been colonising the US long before Plymouth Rock, but you learn that’s the first instance, I bet you still believe Christopher Columbus was the first settler too!
@Ellie5621 also I should add that the UK has and will always be a respected global contributor, America is the least intellectually regarded continent, least respected country, and NOWHERE near as free as you think you are! I can walk across a street without a little Green man telling me I can without getting arrested!
@Ellie5621 and yet, you keep replying 😂 what a delusional person you are 😂
I know 90% came here for Rebeca ❤️

I visit the book area of 2nd hand stores when ever I can. I keep my eyes open for old tech and chemistry books, and CRCs... that's it.
I got a CRC book as a prize for having a high score on a national math exam. The math dept. in my public school was happy for a perfect score, when only 2 other kids did the same, and they came from private schools on Oahu. I was sad my CRC edition didn't have the exact expressions for the values of sine, cosine, tangent, etc. of all multiples of 3°, as I manually had figured them out after I proved sin(18°) equals (sqrt(5)-1)/4, and sin(54°) equals (sqrt(5)+1)/4. In trig class, we had solved for all multiples of 15°, but I found a way to get 18° and use the deltas to find n*3°.

chumlee opening with the toupe joke. :D
I love that person.
Great mind.
If you make a deal with Rick, you gonna lose guaranteed
he needs to make money, so you are never gonna get full price, he starts at 1/3th of the price, and if your lucky he will give you 1/2, and if he really wants it he will give you 1/3, like any pawn shop, i still dont understand why people go to these pawnnshops with the internet adn ebay and all, the ONLY reason i can think off, is that they are desperate for money, and need it fast!.
I hate that dudes attitude walked in like Rick hasn’t seen something more valuable on the daily😂
Would offer him nothing. Since it's horrible condition and from a library. Easier to sell gold coins and diamond rings at pawnshops. The dam book will take ages to find a nerdy buyer. Plus this weirdo trying to sell it is just annoying
