  • Patricio Castro said he was moved to tears, when he finally saw the PIX11 News story from 2020 marking the 20th anniversary of the Wendy's fast-food massacre in Flushing, Queens.
The report featured his former co-worker, Jaquoine Johnson, who was only 18 when he was shot in the head during a robbery turned mass shooting on May 24, 2000.

I lived in Flushing Queens at the time of this tragic event, and I used to take the bus right in front of Wendy's. I was standing at the bus stop like an hour before this happened. I remember the next day, it was partially boarded up but you could still see clearly inside. I still have pictures that I took of the shrine, and many of us who came to pay our respects. I'm glad all these years later, they are trying to make the best of their lives.🌹

Someone should do a Tik Tok about his book so it can become a best seller, Also it would help his family move from that situation. Big ups to both guys‼️ May God continue to instill a good work in both of them. May we all surround them in prayers & lots of LOVE. ❤😉😇

PROPS to PIX for bringing this up. 2 men different cultures different races bonded forever through a tremendous tragedy. Very similar to the actions you take in war.. Throw your fellow soldier on your shoulder and March not worrying about the little things that would normally Make you hesitate. What a beautiful and inspirational story. If we could just have more of these without the tragedy we would be in a much better place.

I grew up a few blocks away and always passed that Wendy's on the way to the Long Island Railroad station on the way to the city.
I saw the story on the news when I was living in the Midwest. I couldn't believe I was seeing my hometown and Main Street Flushing on National news.
I can't believe what these men have gone through at no fault of their own. That one night changed their lives forever. We'll check out his book "40th and Main" Thank you for remembering them PIX11

I wonder if Wendy’s even pay their bills…. Or if they got a lawsuit since it was a manager of the company that set them up. They should’ve gotten millions!!!!!! Especially the black man that was crippled from his injuries.

This is beautiful.😭😭😭😭 It's ironic the way tragedy brings people closer. Unfortunately especially nowadays us human beings cannot help one another. Tragedies like these are still happening. There are a lot of evil people out there committing these types of crimes and murdering the victims.I pray these 2continue to live full lives. I remember this tragedy I was a young girl at the time.Just yesterday a woman was shot in queens projects a mother trying to help a neighbor from continually being beaten by her boyfriend..... Why didn't anybody tell me about this horrific event? I came to the US in 2002, I worked at 2 Wendy's in South Carolina, moved to New York and worked at Wendy's in Nanuet in 2006, my first job in the state! and nobody told me a word about this!!
I even lived in Flushing in 2015 and worked at BJ's there, nobody spoke a word on it (well it had been many years from it, but still).
I just found out about it this morning because I went to Flushing yesterday and found the Burger King closed, did a little research and someone mentioned "it feels weird to see it closed after the tragedy that happened years ago"... I was like "what tragedy"... my God !!!
As a citizen now, I am appalled at people's lack of memory/disinterest after these things happen, as if it was the "normal" for any country's life.
They refuse to drop the wild west mentality.
