When Rory says sketchy, you know it’s gonna be a good video!! Thanks again for letting us see what you do. Off the charts talent on display every time.
The fun thing is that you can almost predict the „drama“ level of a video based on Rory’s choice of vehicles. The wreckers are on the low drama/perfection end of the scale, while the buggy is on the other „Ah, that’s one where he gets in trouble“ end of things. The magic seems to need a boom to work.
Man that looked like a nail biter in places, a bit top heavy and challenging terrain, but Rory's good judgement and driving skills were up to it. Another great recovery!
How in the heck do you not have as many followers as Fab Rats and Matt’s Offroad Recovery? Your content is just as entertaining and many times more technical.
You nailed it. Technical Safe Secure Properly. It’s not intentionally dangerous and dramatic. The followers here are intelligent and appreciate the effort and skill displayed.
Rory I am in Awe that you design and build machines capable of climbing orver those super rough rock trails and get people and machines out of trouble. You guys are heros and should be acknowleged as such ! P.S. Thanks for no crappy music.
the problem is that you make it look easy. Matt had those 2 beginners on his channel and it helped show just how hard it is, even with very capable vehicles. It takes high level skill, but that doesn't always translate in the videos. On that note, y'all sure do live in a beautiful area. I was lucky enough to live in Yosemite National park for 24 years and I loved it, but the desert sure has its beauty and Moab is right up there. So beautiful.
I must say again, that is a very well-thought-out trailer. Just the right size, lots of floatation, low center of gravity, and tough as a roadside diner steak special. The weight of the jeep made this an interesting recovery. Nicely Done! The wrecker goes places that I wouldn't want to try with my XJ. I'm guessing that putting the Jeep on the trailer instead of on the hook, allowed you to keep the front wheels on the ground a lot more. I imagine that off-roaders doing a trail, proud of their off-road prowess, then see the wrecker coming up the same trail, which makes them re-think capability. Furthermore, I salute your approach to your videos. No made-up drama, and no trying to be an internet personality, just good honest work and some fun doing it. Thank you!
When Trailmators tires start squawking, it reminds me of my Pit bull everytime he see a child or another dog! He is such a gentle doggy, and just loves everyone!
That was a little bit tense. But they made it. I think Rory has been driving those trails since he was a baby. His knowledge of how to handle everything so smoothly is just so awesome. My respect for him is the highest level anyone could get. ❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️👍👍👍👍❤️
Rory's expertise and experience in recovering these vehicles from the middle of nowhere is tremendous. I am not into rock crawling but even if I was, some of those rock faces and steepness would give me pause. Rory makes it look easy as to how he traverses them but I am sure it isn't and takes immense concentration. Great job Rory and Shawn
The more I watch your videos, the more I realize how hard your job is. Every job & trail holds new challenges everytime you go out. Hats off to the whole team. Thanks for sharing
Just when I think it getting mundane, you come up with another challenge. The jeep was so high, one wrong move and over it goes. I addicted to the 454 sound. What a beast. Did anyone notice the bike going over, I've had a knee banged in less. I'm sure you would have brought him down if it was serious. Good job all. Thanks for posting.
Looked like smooth sailing, I would have been worried about going downhill, if starts to push, you are along as passenger more or less. Thanks for sharing have good time and take care.
I’d like to hear your comments in the next videos as to the pros and cons of using the trailer for a Jeep. And if you’d consider trying it again. Great video as always. Thank you 😊
Such nerves of steel that a Diamond Bill rock pecker couldn't damage them. Great skills gentleman and Lady, Thank You for sharing and getting the job done for our enjoyment. You are in my prayers Hoka Hey
Never would of thought that a Jeep would of fit on the trailer. But Rory brought out his Sketch book and put it to paper and drew up a mighy nice display of artistry in how to get it done without trailer brakes and really measured up to this task at hand. "JEEP" JUST EMPTY EVEVYBODYS PANTS in this episode.
Rory, I am firmly convinced Mater could back down a mine shaft, slap a hook in an Elephants a$$ and drag it screaming to the surface ! , What a BEAST of a Machine !
As always, Rory and crew got it done. I like when. Rory says " sketchy". And then the sketchy is for entertainment purposes only, lol. As always, great video! Can't wait for the next one.! Thanks for what you do!
Yaaaaaay another episode of Trail Mater team. Rory and team are always teaching a different way to recover a vehicle.👍👍👍 That clutch is a beast to have that kind of holding power with slipping.
Thanks for the explanation in the description area, don't know how many look there but I do!!! I also see spectators taking time from their fun to watch you perform your mission, I drive tractor trailer and enjoy getting into bad places, the audience doesn't bother me at all!!!
Rory said this would be sketchy and Poison Spider is very sketchy in a lot of places! Towing that Jeep out on the trailer was a tough pull for Mater and Chris was there to help one time on that steep hill. Good video and Shawn was great on the camera!
I got a good chuckle when you said please be a 4 cylinder. I drove across Canada in a YJ back in 1997 in a four. What an awesome trip! Lets just say I never had a worry of getting pulled over speeding. lol. Love the Misfits skull on it too!
Sketchy??? You never disappoint with your talent and skill. Thank you for taking us along on this one. Pretty sure I puckered a few times just watching, lol
Another win for the big bad dog , no rory not you , TM Trail Mater 😂 Nice assist by Cindy 👍👍👍👍 Cudos. I swear man TM sounds so good , tuned so well. Rory knows them motors , they all sound so good. 😁😁😁👍✌
You never cease to amaze me!! That was indeed "sketchy" Mighty rugged trail to be on in the first place, let alone pulling a trailer WITH A JEEP ON IT!!! You guys are awesome!!! 😁😟😟
Shawn nice filming bud that 1st one looked like a wall straight up👀 & down💀! Rory you make it look easy when you use your Skillz and that Beautiful custom trailer I really like that low center of gravity it has now, btw sweet front dig👍. Ty Chris for all the help & great drivin.. till next time fella's, have a good week! ☕🐢
I’m only 2:10 in and had to comment on the videography, just superb. “Don’t do what I do” … ok Rory, maybe I won’t, but I’d love to have the opportunity… ❤️🇷🇴
That truck is one of a kind. It's amazing what it can do and the places you take it and put it through. The trailer is awesome too. Great job to you and your crew. Love your channel, keep up the great videos.
Rory I bugged my eyes in surprise when you suggested the axle shaft might walk back in: wow yes; a great idea .... and the you looked at the camera a couple of times for my approval! ?? Loved it mate : such good stuff thanks
I don't comment often, but thought this would be something to point out to folks who may not realize. For those of us who go wheeling a lot, we understand the mindset of being aware of where each tire is and when things will drop off and pitch the vehicle one way or the other. After watching many of Rory's videos, I'm especially impressed with this particular video where Rory chooses the line for the front tires, the back tires, and the trailer tires with a top-heavy load. For the casual viewer or observer, it seems easy, but where I have pulled trailers in far more ideal conditions, I for one greatly appreciate the amount of thought, intuition, and manipulation of the forces at play across an ever-changing terrain. A perfect example of what I mean starts at 8:08. Rory places the front tires in one place and the rear tires in another, while being cognizant of how the trailer will pitch as he comes through the obstacle. Meanwhile, he's already planning and memorizing the next obstacle immediately after. On this and other videos, he manipulates the truck separate from the trailer to avoid pitching the trailer somewhere that would most certainly be beyond the tipping point and more dangerous for all involved. I'm sure it doesn't always go well, but when it does (almost always in Rory's case), it is masterful. Well done!!! There's a reason why so many in the offroad towing community that hold Rory in very high regard.
Good morning Chris Shawn and Rory... Great video work Shawn... proves he is more than just a pretty face.... and great driver 🙂 The recovery shows that although pulling power and handling is important, braking/descending is also a VERY important aspect of the recovery :-) Thanks for sharing
That one was a bit heavier than what you usually get! Took a little pull to get up that hill even after you put it in four-wheel drive! Another great video!
Another great video. Been following your channel for over a year now and you still amaze me. Your level of picking a line with and without a trailer is many levels above the weekend off-roader like myself. Thanks for sharing.
Trail Mater must have the most badass clutch ever, there’s no stopping it Rory! I also love your designs on everything you build Rory! I love the design on the trailer too, it’s one tough trailer brother! Rory I think you’re the best rescuer on utube myself friend, you plan every move you make and the rigging too! That’s why I enjoy watching your channel Rory, Mike and Shawn, you guys rock! I’m not a wealthy man but I do plan on ordering one of your hoodies by this winter my friend! Hey Rory, have you ever thought about installing a solid roller across the back of the rescue trailer, I was thinking it would save you from the dragging on the rocks brother! Just thinking my friend! I know it’s not much but just a thought! Thanks for sharing brother!
The title question is wrong - who cares if it's too much for the trailer? You can build it up if needed. The better question is 'what is easier / better for 'Mater?' You'll know better than us interweb idiots who aren't there, but I'd propose that the trailer is tougher to tow out than using the boom and winches because you can't set it down, get up some tricky bit, then winch it to you. I'd ASSUME lifting the rear and towing it out via boom would be gentler to all involved (and let someone steer the towed jeep). I love watching you problem solve - you've got a gift.
When Rory says sketchy, you know it’s gonna be a good video!! Thanks again for letting us see what you do. Off the charts talent on display every time.

liking his sketchy more and more!!
That was my thought as well
@@lomni02 b.
Rory's sketchy is Matt's baseline. Especially the old "winches are for people with patience" Matt.
When it absolutely positively has to be done, Trail Mater and crew get it done.
SR71 reference? Okinawa?
Man that looked like a nail biter in places, a bit top heavy and challenging terrain, but Rory's good judgement and driving skills were up to it. Another great recovery!
How in the heck do you not have as many followers as Fab Rats and Matt’s Offroad Recovery? Your content is just as entertaining and many times more technical.
Less clickbait and less time spent grinding social media and/or The Algorithm leaves more time on the trail.
They gettin' there!

Hey Rory ///Shawn & Chris !!!! Amazing !!!!! 🙃🙂😊🤔🙄👀👀👀👀👍👍👍👍👍
Love the landscape. I never tire of seeing it.
Such an easy recovery, well Rory makes it look so easy. Good camera work Shawn, hi Chris.
ohhh snap shawn teaching our secrets to rory ayee lol ober dar waaay ober dar 😅
1. I love that trailer.
2. Those downhills, being pushed by all that extra weight, look terrifying.
the problem is that you make it look easy.
Just when I think you and the crew have done the very difficult recovery, you find an even more challenging recovery.
I must say again, that is a very well-thought-out trailer. Just the right size, lots of floatation, low center of gravity, and tough as a roadside diner steak special. The weight of the jeep made this an interesting recovery. Nicely Done!

I love that even your trailer is more off-road capable than most 4wd vehicles out there.
Chris great to come along for back up
When Trailmators tires start squawking, it reminds me of my Pit bull everytime he see a child or another dog! He is such a gentle doggy, and just loves everyone!
A new song, is born, WALK THE AXLE, back in baby !
This channel got me thinking about the forces working on a trailer, being drug around off road. Totally different than self propelled.
The trailer looks like a furniture dolly under that jeep. Love it.
Trail Mater and Rory's abilities, to get the job done, never cease to amaze me.
Great job for all involved 👏
That was a little bit tense. But they made it. I think Rory has been driving those trails since he was a baby. His knowledge of

That shelf climb at 8:40 shows how well built both the truck and trailer are built. The casual wheel lift in the beginning was like a friendly wave.
The more I watch your videos, the more I realize how hard your job is. Every job & trail holds new challenges everytime you go out. Hats off to the whole team. Thanks for sharing
Chris for the assist! Well done team. Rory, sorry, I skipped a commercial. I wasn’t thinking.
Golden Spike with a trailer.... with a Jeep on it. Getting it done sketchy style. Thanks for taking us along.
Just when I think it getting mundane, you come up with another challenge. The jeep was so high, one wrong move and over it goes. I addicted to the 454 sound. What a beast. "cast irene" made me loose it🤣🤣 almost as much as "that, that right there is from the ba-roke period".
Oh ho ho,thats made me laugh shaun, gr8 camera catch.

When the Mater gets winched.... its the real deal! Nice work out there guys!
You always make things look easy, even when I know it is not. You and your team do a great job creating content for those of us who watch.

Impressive! The sound your tires make on rock’s sound like a very unhappy dog.
The skills it takes to haul a vehicle on a trailer through places most can’t drive is off the chain! And you make it look easy 🇺🇸
Thanks for making. Great trailer
Good driving guys , beautiful driving, of course the country side second too none, thank you
Excellent recovery from all u guys, well done
I do so enjoy watching Rory meter out the slow speed control downhill. I learn a lot here and laugh more than a little. ✌
Yaaaaaay another episode of Trail Mater team. Rory and team are always teaching a different way to recover a vehicle.👍👍👍 That clutch is a beast to have that kind of holding power with slipping.
Its actually a stock Luke brand clutch that's all rorys driving skills lol
The tire chatter, trailmater speaks.
Rory has the best clutch pedal “foot” discipline that I have seen!
Clutch AND gas. Love the 400rpm lope up a hill.
If anyone can do it, Rory, you're the one that can! Thanks to John Shawn and Chris!
Hell of a job as always!

Much respect to Rory for his skills. Hope Mike is healing up ok.
Rory: “Don’t do what I do” Me: I wouldn’t dare to!! Another excellent video team. Thank you. 😅😅

another great tow video. you guys rock!! So rad to see the little extra snippets at the end!
You guys get to have too much fun. Keep it up Rory !!!
Rory I like that you really put the trailer to the test. I'm thinking samurai has been it's heaviest so far. You rock always!
Another great show of 3 masters at work & the great views of Utah.
I’m only 2:10 in and had to comment on the videography, just superb.
“Don’t do what I do” … ok Rory, maybe I won’t, but I’d love to have the opportunity… ❤️🇷🇴
Your Off Road Recovery skills are Amazing ! Just another day in the Office for you !
Some people would be so screwed without Rory and team. Well done
Commandeer Rory and his talented side kick, Trail Mater, conquer the terrain to make a difficult recovery look easy peasy.
That truck is one of a kind. It's amazing what it can do and the places you take it and put it through. The trailer is awesome too. Great job to you and your crew. Love your channel, keep up the great videos.
Gotta appreciate the *completely necessary* front dig at 12:33!!!
Rory I bugged my eyes in surprise when you suggested the axle shaft might walk back in: wow yes; a great idea .... and the you looked at the camera a couple of times for my approval! ?? Loved it mate : such good stuff thanks
It would have been too much for me to even get the trailer there…..for you guys just another piece of cake! 👍👍
Looks like you're recovery trailer did very well great job Rory 👏 🤙🤙
Sketchy, yes…but done with “finesse!” Loved it. 🙏❤️

Wow I have never seen a trailer like that. Do used to pull a jeep out of the trail. Amazing great work again Rory and Sean.
Good morning from Idaho, Man looking jeep perched up trailer looks like flop over so easy ! Great recovery.
Good morning Chris Shawn and Rory... Great video work Shawn... proves he is more than just a pretty face.... and great driver 🙂 The recovery shows that although pulling power and handling is important, braking/descending is also a VERY important aspect of the recovery :-) Thanks for sharing
For anybody else, absolutely too much but for you Rory not so much 😳. I don’t know how you didn’t tip that thing over 👏👏👏✌️

Sliding backwards down hill still spooks me a little, good job buddy.
Sean and Mike are both terrific cameramen! You distracted that guy on the bike, hilarious!
An awesome trailer and with a top heavy CJ on it...amazing...it's like it's not even being towed

I wonder when I see that smile at the beginning of the vlog? Shenanigans
Always here for the scenery & comradery.
Soooo gentle, gorgeous to watch.
Yup, sketchy..... Surprised you didn't make it a trail repair. Good job to everybody.
Spider gears welded to the point of replacing an axleshaft was impossible.
@@trailmater Oh gezzz, okay, that makes sense. time for an upgrade.
Roy not only can drive but it takes big cojones.. much respect to you guys.
enjoy watching your videos. great video
Mister Mater the number one in all that he does.

Ok, that video opening (after reading the title) was off the hook. Better than Star Wars. Kudos to the editor!
15:02 This is why you are ‘That Famous Guy’.
