    A half cup of salt in 5gals of water, toss in the crays and let them sit for 15-20 minutes, they'll purge their digestive tract and it'll clean off any nasties from the shell.

    We have a irrigation ditch behind my parents house and when we was kids you could catch 30 or in a day if you tried. Wondering about throwing some traps this summer down. I am from wyoming I doubt anyone has ever done it here before. Think they would be fine?

    video is older wish I'd seen it sooner. I enjoyed it. I use a bigger trap and a cheap can of catfood with high fat content and just crack the top and stick it in there and a couple stones to hold it down. works great the oil of the fat drifts and calls them in and it's like .50 cents a trap and not using perfectly good hot dogs :D
    and a suggestion, might want to open up the entrance funnels just another half inch or so in diameter it could be larger cray can't get in and block the funnels and drop off when you pull the trap. it might increase your catch per pull.

    • @aznmoutdoors9357
      @aznmoutdoors9357 7 років тому

      John Burgess it's funny. I've done most of what you said. Larger traps, larger trap entrances and chicken liver for bait.

    You didn’t need that much of zaterans seasoning for that small amount of crawfish other than that you did pretty good.

      Adventures with Monkey I'm unaware of any species that is uneditable but there may be. If you eat them you just need to know they are fresh. Once they are dead they spoil quickly. You need to ice them or cook them immediately.

      Lol. Coming from Louisiana born and raised purging crawfish with salt is 1980's. All it does is kill the crawfish. You do have 2 rinse the crawfish multiple times and put them in a pot and soak them a few minutes drain the water and repeat the process until the water is clean

    ALL Crayfish are invasive species in AZ. Arizona Game and Fish would NOT appreciate you throwing ANY back. In fact, I believe it is illegal.

    • @aznmoutdoors9357
      @aznmoutdoors9357 6 років тому

      singleman allow me to clarify. The small ones were killed and used for fish bait on that particular body of water.

    • @singleman1986
      @singleman1986 6 років тому +1

      Thx man. That helps the waterways a LOT. Well done. I put all my little 'greenies' in a pool at the ranch and feed 'em fish food until big enough to sell or eat.

    • @aznmoutdoors9357
      @aznmoutdoors9357 6 років тому +1

      Awesome! Yeah here in Az we can't leave the body of water we we catch them in unless we kill them and/or cover them in ice.

    • @aznmoutdoors9357
      @aznmoutdoors9357 6 років тому

      MrBeal I've only tired that once and it wasn't in the best place so it wasn't the dog foods fault. I might try it again. I had a lot of luck on chicken liver this year.
