When I was in school I would carry my favorite pencil, a 'decoy' pencil, and a pen. I already loaned out the pen earlier in the day when some guy I didn't know very well asked me if he could borrow my decoy pencil. It made me nervous to only be down to one writing implement, but I figured if he was asking someone he didn't even know to borrow a pencil with big ol' puppy eyes, that I would risk it. The class ends and he didn't return my pencil. I wrote it off as lost and went on with my day, not too upset over the decoy pencil because that's kind of its purpose, but a little disappointed that my faith in humanity dipped a little. 3 days later he finds me at my locker and returns my pencil. I was blown away! I never talked to him again, but I will remember how ordinary and common a pencil is that I always carried two, but he had none. And it took him 3 days to find one for himself.
I found I only got 5 things I had done from the list. 6 if you count the bonus question about the digital planner. I've been a minimalist for a long time but stationary is a place I've tried to go for quality when I do buy things. The points I got were based on vibes, sharing my successes with journaling, and abandoning things within my journal. Usually it's because I forgot about it and then didn't remember it until well after I forgot whatever it was for.
GUILTY: Secondhand (stickers and washi from destash groups). Cut a page too close. Bought on a No-Buy. Trackers. Whole collection. Wrote it down to cross it off. Adding the $20 for free shipping. I scored 7 points!
Digital planning questions! -I've seen washi and stickers for digital planning, what programs do you use for it, and are you able to adjust the transparency of the stickers/washi? -What device would you use for it? Do you NEED a tablet, or could you feasibly use a phone? -Do they make a fountain pen shaped stylus? It could be Marks gateway drug...
I've made a few of those things. I mostly use Canva and download as a PNG with transparent background or sometimes GIMP (which is open-source photoshop). I bought a used mini tablet but I'm not loving it. I kind of want to try a full size tablet. I think a phone would feel really cramped.
For Jess, I can completely understand the free shipping, especially with her being in New Zealand! if it was me, I'd be totally doing it, every single time.
15/20. Sorry not sorry! I have always been a stationery hoarder. I loved back-to-school shopping as a kid because I could get new folders, notebooks, pens, etc. I still love it as a teacher, because I buy all the things for my classroom. For the notebook question, I counted it yes because there was a time (2020-2022) where I was buying not only bullet journals, but also so many Happy Planners and Happy Planner notebooks. I have two file drawers full of them, and I've only just started going through and recycling the ones I don't need or are half used.
I was laughing so hard that I couldn’t breathe… ghosts of penises past 🤣🤣🤣. I think it’s safe to say- if your watching this podcast, we’re stationery addicts! I don’t know anyone locally that I can geek out about stationery with
Thank you for your video 💐. I really enjoyed watching you. Thank you for taking/picking my suggestion. Dear Jess, that wasn't an attack on you. Quite the opposite. I admire your rainbow. 📚🟥🟧🟨🟩🟦🟪. I'm a little jealous. My bullet journals are mostly black. Thanks to you, I have one for June that is blue. When it came to stickers, I immediately thought of Planning with Kay, her stickers are so good and beautiful. I had to drink six times 😉. Because of the podcast I subscribed to Mark. Best wishes from Melly from Germany ✨
It’s a thing. I love stationary products and “need” everything. I three new fountain pens - thank you, Mark- for re-igniting that particular love. Listening to Planner Pals always brightens my day, and thank you, Jess for persnickety biscuits!! My new favorite saying.
Those of us who made it through the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina (2005)learned to keep handwritten or at least printed copies of things because in some cases it was a month or more before people had access to electricity! And companies learned that they had to send digital backups to states hundreds of miles away. So, schools and banks continue to use forests of trees for the paper backups and you still need digital backups in case of flooding 🤪
I had a weight tracker this year and I used it until about May. I found it was depressing because I have a few auto-immune issues and to watch my weight go up and down due to inflammation was so sad.
Hey guys! I love your podcast! ❤ Keep it up! Could you do one episode dedicated to your planning systems? Stuff like how you use your system as a whole. For example, do you review the data you collect, do you have reset (weekly, monthly, quarterly) systems, how do you use your pages in relation to each other? Basically your methods
I finally bought the Ohuhu dot markers I wanted for so long, I needed something extra to get free shipping haha! 🤣 There are 10 regular colours and 5 metallic. I was especially looking forward to the metallic ones in gold, silver and blue. When the set arrived, the cap of the blue metallic one fell off and it turned out to be all dried up on the dot tip. I was so bummed... Ohuhu was willing to get me a replacement, but because they don't have an official reseller in The Netherlands they couldn't. Instead I got my money back for the whole set. Now I am seriously considering reordering the 15-piece set just for that blue metallic marker. You get that, right...?
OK. I LOVE watching you guys!!! I wish I knew ya'll were in Texas, since I live in Fort Worth area...so not too far from Dallas. I would've love to see ya at Wild. Anyways.....one thing I've noticed while watching the Pals Podcast is that I have found new items and objects to shop for!!!! I never knew half of these products. I think that's so great to not be limited to one specific brand.
Awww making stickers for your journal is so much fun!!! If either of you (or both) want a lesson on making Cricut Stickers - let me know! It's what I do on my channel 😉
So fun! I don’t usually try to get the whole collection of stuff but(!) I got all 3 Benu fountain pens from the Minima series because I couldn’t not have it. They are SO beautiful! Worth it.
I feel like a stationary noob, I have 5 points 😂 looking forward to the digital planning episode! I'm currently juggling a digital system and 4 notebooks. Oef! I'm writing down daily highlights 4 times... someone come save me 😂😂😂 (digital, multiyear journal, old layout I cannot abandon and my highlight layout that replaces that old one)
I just watched your podcast episode where you talked about out doing this next. So glad I can watch them back to back! ❤❤❤ Never bought used. Sorted them by size but not color I have abandoned due to the size. No grudge but I also dont share my good pens I’ve cut too close and the notebook fell apart. These are fun ones ❤ Um, I literally just set online but wrote July! Just like Jess lol I don’t know what no buy stationary freeze is because well I can’t say no to a new notebook
Just an idea for a podcast, have you guys thought about doing a show and tell of some of your different stationary supplies you guys you the most? I know your styles are somewhat different and you both use several supplies that are different then the other. I know you use similar journals but why do each of you use the supplies you do use and how? Just a thought of a podcast topic or something of the like and maybe a few you both really have tried and didn't like and will never use again in your bujo supplies. I am on the hunt to expand my supply but, really stumped on the direction I want to go. Thanks and again GREAT video!
Just started watching - but have the weird need to say „hell yeah it was long awaited!“ 🤣 But well, „time“ is a struggle for me anyways ^^ (or „a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, times-wimey… stuff“ - according to the 10th doctor 🤓) And I literally searched my subs yesterday as I was missing you guys already anyways 🤭 (was afraid to have missed an upload as life was crazy ^^) Back to watching, listening & being excited ☺️ Btw - has anyone already mentioned that Mark has the perfect voice for audiobooks or guided meditations? ☺️ You two are amazing together 💜 have a lovely day/evening!
@@PlannerPalsPodcast of course I enjoyed it 😊 And I‘m not surprised that you‘ve been on radio! (Have to admit, got here from the scratch but due to Jess 🤭 so I still have some „catching up“ to do ^^) I know, recording and listening to audiobooks are literally 2 different coins of the same medal - but in my head I can clearly see you unpacking, rearranging and probably even swatching inks while listening to one 😁
12/20 I am ok with this. As for writing down a task just to mark it off, of course, I absolutely do that for memory-keeping and time tracking. When you were speaking about the influencer title, you left me wondering who is Kim K? With regards to the cafe Twsbi, I have *no* interest in that color, but I do want to get a fine nib eventually. I currently have an EF, M, and Stub.
Never have I ever… bought extras of my favourite pen so I am never without & to share with my arty son & my creative Mum 🫣😱😉 (eg. Gelly Roll white pen) Gifts is definitely one of my love languages 🤗
@jashiiCorrin you should have a give away for the give aways that never got given away!! I would respond because some of your give aways I have had serious FOMO of because I didn't see the video till 4 months later haha.
Love listening to you guys, it's like sitting down with friends to chat about all the things that make my stationery loving heart go💓 Thank you for another great podcast even if I did end up feeling a bit green with envy ....6 months with no buying is hard😬🥹
Hey Planner Pals! 😄 Hope you enjoyed the episode. Let us know how many you'd done before! 😝
Now we know why Mark is so afraid of ghosting!
OMg, yes TRIGGERED - Mark
😂😂😂
I call all my crappy, or lendable, pens the "Peasant Pens". I only loan those out. 😝
OMG I love this! -Mark
I do this too as a teacher, I have the pens the school provides that go out to everyone and then I have MY pens "no touchie"

Mark -- 'used' stationery could also comprise vintage fountain pens! Hugs from Maine to both of you.
That is exactly how I took it, since my dad collects vintage fountain pens, and I've bought him several as gifts before.
Ok, now I am onboard. :-) I haven't bought one yet... but you never know. - Mark
You guys and all those prompts made me feel like a normal person XD
Knowing that Mark has a Brazilian vovó makes me enjoy the videocast even more

Hahah, we have enough of them for part 5 - Mark
@@PlannerPalsPodcastmake it a whole series that you sprinkle in every few episodes!

Mark before you even said you guys educate, I totally thought, no you guys aren’t influencers, you’re educators!
Haha glad to know others feel the same and we're not just deluding ourselves 😝

Lol want or need.... My answer is usually I want to need this
When is Jess gonna show us her first experiences with her fountain pen ✒️??
I have a pen cup on my desk that others can access and another one in my drawer that's just for me.
Some of your wants being fulfilled is a need

Yes free shipping, limited edition, etc are definitely tactics from marketing
A no buying freeze?! I love myself too much to even have thought of doing that. Never. No. Why?!?!😂
Yup, avoiding a no buy is just self care at work 😝!

13, great way to stay hydrated while journaling! My drink of choice was lilt. Thank you for another great episode!
Nice! 💪 hope the Lilt was refreshing 😄
Trackers- For May I wrote in pencil “trackers” and that all it still has on it
Don't pick that notebook - I laughed out loud xx love you both So relating - really have a notebook addiction xx
10/20 and I can totally relate to the ones that didn’t apply to me.
Good score! -Mark
this was so entertaining! please tell me there will be a part two. also i was right there along with you both most of the time hahaha *sip sip*
Pauses video to check whether there is a new release of mild liners (I do use them though 😅)
11/20. I need to up my stationary game 🤪 Awesome episode!

I got 12 😂 I sighed in relief when my number was below 15
I only got 7. I ended up drinking even when I didn't do the things because I just wanted to drink the boba tea I made for this episode.
I will always support drinking boba tea 👏 - Jess
16 🤪 There were a couple Qs that I was immediately like “no I haven’t… oh wait a sec, I have..” 😅
Haha 😂 yeah I had a few of those myself! - Jess
I got 6. Hey Mark are you going to the eric small things/cute things from Japan stamp carving workshop in NY?
I would love to but I am going to be away on Vacation. I wish I was going - Mark
7 for me. Still a little thirsty 😂
Haha we'll have to do another round 😝
I scored 12 as well.

I don’t loan out my best pens either

Normally between 9am - 11am NZT. But these aren't live podcast episodes so they get edited and then uploaded every 2 weeks at 2am NZT 👌
Mark do you have a fountain pen in mind for a beginner?
We have a full fountain pens episode in which Mark gave some suggestions if that helps! 💪 Episode 4(?) I think 🤔 - Jess
