I'm from Poland and at the beginning of listening to these alternative voices on the internet I was angry how you can repeat Putin propaganda and then It came to me, that I live in some kind of narration that has nothing to do with reality of what's actually happening. So I guess you are doing a good job. Thank you.
Think for yourself is the best policy. Read/listen and try to develop your own understanding of how people and leaders think and behave. Many of the view points come with built in assumptions of how the world works, and you may not agree with those assumptions. Develop your own then see how others explanations fit you world view.
Danish former Navy sergeant, here. Serving almost 8 years years, 3 years in the submarines, during the Cold War. My father served in NATO five years and in the Navy all his life. For Russia, it seems to me, they are very well prepared for a peace negotiation. Or a prolonged war of slowly gaining control over more land-territory in Ukraine. Putin has all along been calm, well informed about western movements, ideas etc. And you would have to say that those ideas they have not been many, and without any reason or substance. So Russia is not going to shake its hand, come negotiations time. When Trump meets with Putin he will understand who holds the stronger hand, both physically and strategically. There is no way Trump will come out of that exchange on top and he knows that. NATO has played its hand as poorly as you possibly can. Thats probably why he is saying that it has to be over before he takes over at the White House. A greater concern is Iran/Israel. With the team that Trump has assembled it looks like war can brake out soon in that region. Which will be the time where Europa must stay strong and say we do not want to support Israels self-destruction, which it will become. And anyone who supports that endeavor will suffer as well. Lebanon, Palestine and Iran seems to be getting support from Syria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and perhaps even Turkey. Turkey has already pivoted away from EU towards BRICS and now potentially away from NATO. NATO must be very careful and not overextend its ressources otherwise that could for sure be the rapid end of USA hegemony in the world. Its coming anyways, but it might come very soon if Trumps cabinet get what they say that they want. USA seems to have no idea what they are getting themselves into these days. Its being led by populists, moneysceems and everybody just seems to think that its a video game that you can turn off after you have lost. I´m pretty sure it has not sunk in that more than 700.000 people have lost their lives in Ukraine. In a war that is 100% worthless; for Europe, for Russia, for USA and which is detrimental for Ukraine and its population. Who has gained anything from this war?
My brother and many of my coworkers were submariners . Although I seldom agreed with most of them politically I was impressed with their well read knowledge . You fall into that category . I appreciate your comments .
I told think you are notwell read. You equate NATO with BRICS. NATO is a defensive alliance. BRICS is an economic alliance. If you are going to compare apples to apples, you want to compare the European Union to BRICs. Except the European Union was created as a counterweight to the United States. The European Union as an economic union whether one likes it or not has real policy and rules that the signees agree to. For example, you as a Dane, can pass through to Germany without a passport check. The BRIC's members have no rules that bind them. They get together. There is no binding currency, no freedom of movement, no agreed upon laws. If South Africa's economy melts down, no one is coming to the rescue. The European Union also is contiguous. The European Union is composed of like minded countries that have a common historical tradition. BRIC's members have nothing in common. They are on different continents, have massively different political systems and have different agendas. That is probably why BRICS has not generated a single meaningful agreement. If you are a military person, you also know that Israel has air supremacy in the region. No country in the region can touch Israel. Any country that actually threatens the sovereignty of Israel has to do it with the understanding Israel is a nuclear power. An no Turkey is not going to go to war with Israel. Erdogan will talk the talk. The Arab world has always been fractured. It has always been Sunni verses Shitte and in the case of Erdogan Turk verses Arab. If you need a case study Turkey and Iran are not exactly cooperating in Syria.
Military industry has gained contracts worth in hundreds of billions, in late 2023 Lloyd J. Austin III the secretary of defense in congress said that to replace all the weapons given to Ukraine it would cost 300 billions, and not like it stopped then, by now it could be 400 billions already. And that is just USA, most of NATO members have depleted all the weapon stock, there is a reason they can't give more artillery pieces or ammo, because they simply do not exist.
@@StevePowell-p9f NATO stopped being a defensive alliance in 1999 when it started bombing Serbia/Belgrade, perhaps even before with NATO involvement in territory of Yugoslavia.
I'm sure Russia and the USA have a hand shake deal under the table , Ukraine looses as many men as possible , without weapons they wouldn't fight , The munitions companies and share holders make billions , The Donbas people are Russians that want to be liberated by the Russians . The Russians could give weapons to all of America's enermies or technologies . The usa knows it . Its not all as it seems , Your media is fake news . When the Ukrainians run out of men , Russia could walk in and take the lot . One thing is for sure , The Russians will never allow this to ever happen again .
Zelensky didn't try to prevent the conflict through diplomacy because he lacks honor and integrity. In 2014 there was a coup. Soon after, there was a massacre in Odessa (dozens of people were burned alive). Ethnic Russians living in Ukraine were treated as subhuman. Their language and culture was being oppressed. A civil war broke out due to the rise in ethnic tensions. For 8 years the Ukrainian military was indiscriminately shelling civilians living in Donbas. If Zelensky honored the Minsk agreement and pledged neutrality, none of this would have happened. The 8 year civil war would have ended and Donbas would have remained part of Ukraine. War is the ultimate failure of diplomacy. Zelensky, Poroshenko, Merkel and Hollande admitted that Ukraine had no intention to honor the Minsk agreements. Who didn't want peace? Who advised against the 2022 peace talks in April? Hint: someone visited Zelensky in Kiev at that time Russia's national security was compromised once NATO began to expand eastwards. Russia clearly stated that Ukraine joining NATO was a red line (November 2021) and unfortunately this concern was never taken seriously. The Russians openly stated: if nothing changes, we will be forced to act in order to defend our national security. Enhancing the national security of one country at the expense of another is unacceptable. The Russians have legitimate security concerns. 20th September, 2021: Ukraine launched military drills with US and NATO. NATO is not a defensive alliance. NATO illegally bombed Yugoslavia (a direct violation of the U.N. Charter). We should never forget what they did to Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq etc. Who blew up the pipeline causing an environmental disaster? Zelensky banned all opposition and arrested a leading priest. Zelensky tried to invoke article 5 under false pretenses. Remember the incident in Poland. Ethnic Russians living in Ukraine were treated as subhuman. Their language and culture was being oppressed. Poroshenko said, “Our children will go to schools and kindergartens-theirs will hide in the basements”. Russians will never forget the 2014 Odessa massacre. The whole world needs to know about it. Why was Denis Kireev eliminated? He was a member of Ukraine's negotiating team during the peace negotiations. He wanted to help his country. Ukraine has a hit list. They target artists, journalists and ordinary citizens. Hundreds of children are on this list. 13 year old Faina Savenkova was placed on this list. Pink Floyd's Roger Waters is on this list. Jimmy Dore (American stand-up comedian, podcaster) and Aaron Maté (Canadian writer and journalist) are on this list. There is evidence that Ukrainian troops have been indiscriminately shelling civilians in Donbas (they used petal mines and targeted areas where there was no military presence). The azov troops trapped in the azovstal steelworks in Mariupol used human shields. They refused to allow civilians to leave despite of humanitarian corridors being present. Russia held a proposed cease fire in order for the civilians to leave, but azov would not allow the civilians to leave. Ukraine has committed many acts of terrorism (car bombs and other forms of assassination). Darya Dugina (journalist) R.I.P. The first terrorist attack on the Kerch bridge killed the truck driver and the individuals in the adjacent car (innocent civilian victims). The second terrorist attack on the Kerch bridge killed two parents and severely injured their young daughter. I have done a lot of research and it took me a long time to write this comment. I have stated a lot of facts and I have given my honest opinion. I have provided a brief summary of events that took place. In order to explain this whole situation in great detail, a book would need to be written. Hopefully someone will write an UNBIASED book, stating facts and allowing the readers to form their own judgments. Everything I said can be fact checked and verified.
B.S.. poopin was preparing for all this a long time before 2014... patriarch Alexy was murdered around 2008. That already was all part of the plan, to either resurrect the soviet union, or the monarchy...

I am from the UK and there is hostility towards education and intellectual discourse. Reading books is frowned upon. This is a victory for the US and UK elite. The dumbing down and retardation of the UK population. Now UK people easily believe MSM and think that white supremacy will win...globally and we must fight Jonnie Foreigner. There are the entitled identity political types who believe they are superior for whatever reason. The UK society is broken, divided and has no hope for the future. It is a braindead colony of the USA. No Future.

One cannot compare Ukraine to Japan. The circumstances are different. Japan & Germany gave up their sovereignty to the US and the US took advantage to further its hegemony. The US was the only country left intact after WW2. War criminals of Japan were not prosecuted and continued to rule Japan till today under LDP. The US did not pursue in exchange for Japan's research on bio & chemical weapons. The US did the same for Germany where thousands of Nazi scientists were given citizenship in the US. The US already had the intention to rule the world since 1945. The difference in the US prior to the 80s and after is that the government cared for its own population.
@@iRelevant.47.system.boycott Problem with looking at "communism" and "neo-liberalism", is that China was the kingmaker in the conflict. It also doesn't look at the balance of power after WW2 and during the Cold War. The USSR was the single nation/bloc that refused to sign the Bretton Woods Agreement. China went back and forth between the blocks first as the ROC on the USA's side, then the PRC on the USSR's side, then finally the PRC on the USA's side.

As a 3 "Russian State" it changed into anti-russian during 1993-2014 because CIa won and it took the a long time to brain wash people there to surrender themselves to NATO take over during Maidan. Pascal, you come across as a friendly, reasonable, and humble individual. I deeply admire your ability to balance geopolitical insight while navigating the often absurd actions of Western leaders. Thank you for allowing multiple voices of reason to be heard, including Prof. Diesen.
I heard a good speech by the leader of Denk (?). Stephan .... sorry name escapes me. He was superb on the Izzy football hooligans. Although I have no idea on his views on Russia.
Yes, a very interesting and informative episode. Shame it is spoiled - AGAIN - by lumping Europe in with the nazionist/anglo/american bankster mafia - oops, sorry - "the west" and it's anti Russian paranoia. Pascal would do well to also shed a rather strange inferior complex towards Europe and also remember the role played by the anglo/american mafia - ESPECIALLY the so-called "united" king-CONNED-om to fester anti Russian and European integration! (shhh, and don't mention Nord Stream) It would also help to stop his pathetic anti European diatribes and giggling like a silly little girl especially with the Duran muppets when they regurgitate a lot of the anglo/american mafia's anti EU poisonous propaganda! And Glenn would also do well to man up and deal more with the treasonous, bitch slapped Scandinavian stooges who have also betrayed their nations and Europe. THEN maybe ALL Europeans would wake the fracking hell up to what is REALLY happening in the new round of the "great games"!
Russia's pivotal role for Multipolarism: Russia has emerged as a pivotal player between the two superpowers, China and the United States. A cornerstone of U.S. foreign policy has been to prevent the rise of any competing power. When China was relatively weak, the European Union was perceived as the rising power. However, with the ascent of Vladimir Putin, Russia began to assert itself on the global stage. In November 2010, Putin astutely proposed a free trade alliance with the European Union, spanning "from Lisbon to Vladivostok". This potential alliance likely caused significant concern among U.S. policymakers. Consequently, it is plausible that the U.S. intelligence apparatus, including the CIA, sought to ensure the EU's rejection of Putin's proposal. They also aimed to drive a wedge between the EU and Russia, fostering animosity with the narrative that "the Russians are coming" to conquer Western Europe, a sentiment that many EU citizens were led to believe. Additionally, the U.S. sought to weaken the EU economy by compelling it to drastically reduce its energy imports from Russia, which had been a cheap and reliable supplier even during the Cold War. To further ensure compliance, the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipeline became a strategic necessity for the U.S. While these actions achieved the immediate goals of separating the EU from Russia and weakening the EU economy, they also had unintended consequences: Rejected by the EU, Russia naturally turned to China, forming a pragmatic alliance. This shift has contributed to the rise of the BRICS+ coalition, which poses a significant challenge to U.S. hegemony.
Absolutely correct. This incentive to figure out how to manipulate with the great powers to stay on top is going to bite The USA itself. Without a strong EU, USA will be weak and dominance come to and end sooner than later. The BRICS version of world order which is to say: trade with those who want to, is a far more modern way and a much more legitimate way. Everybody gets out on top that way. Because there is actually enough to go around. The darwinistic theory is outdated, and untrue.
You have practically outlined the essence of the book "The Grand Chessboard: American Primacy and Its Geostrategic Imperatives" When I read it back in 1999, I naively thought that these were the sick fantasies of an old man who lived the Cold War. It turned out that these were detailed instructions for the destruction of my country.
@alext5285 Oh ! Thank you... Unfortunately, that is the essence of the current geopolitical situation regarding Russia and the United States... Since the big Czars, with some kind of inferiority complex, they dreamed of transforming the Russian People similar to the Western Europeans... Even Putin... Until they finally seemed to understand the lWesterners despise them and consider them as "barbarians" as the Mongols, whom anyway imprinted, after centuries, their good values: high tolerance to any kind of race or religion... And for better: The Chinese civilization is far more civilized and mature than the Western, non aggressive, far from hegemonic thinking, a good match for the tremendously valuable Russian Civilization they are rediscovering themselves, fairly making them more proud of themselves...
@@efeocampo The point is that both in this book and in your reasoning there is practically no role for Britain. And this is a serious drawback. Even if the US wants to minimize this conflict in order to tear Russia away from China, Britain will go into conflict with the US, but will not allow it to happen. It is not for nothing that all the countries between the Baltic and Black Seas are subject to the influence of the British. This is a kind of sanitary belt. If it is destroyed, Britain will end up as a worthless island state on the outskirts of great Eurasia. Therefore, I am sure that Trump will not be able to stop the war and shift the vector of attention to the South Asian region. We are expecting serious provocations and an increase in the intensity of the conflict. The British Prime Minister is already trying to assemble his European coalition, which will continue the war to the last Ukrainian.

The problem of de-nazification of Ukraine remains. It will be a complex social engineering project likely spanning decades, repairing the damage done since independence and western meddling.
The biggest threat to contemporary civilization is the lack of honesty and conscientiousness - especially among the people who are supposed to inform and enlighten the masses. It's a pity when often the dishonest ignoramuses with an insufficient brain power (or paid/bribed unscrupulous propagandists) are trying to "educate" the public on the subject of our - i.e., of the former USSR nations' - reality and history [especially when it is coupled with a strong intention to divide the union of Russian people (i.e., Russians-Ukrainians-Belorussians-Rusyns) - this is the scammers' old colonial trick "divide and conquer"]. Ukraine, being in the Russian state and in the USSR, became the founder of the USSR and of the UN, increased its territory around seven-fold, population - in around 22 times, and finally became the third power in the world by the main civilization characteristics in 1980-ths! As a Ukrainian, I state that the distorting Ukrainian history and reality media personalities and the instigating ethnic strife criminals should be brought to the future Ukraine Nation's Military Tribunal (in the way as it was done for the Nazis by the Nazi-hunting Wiesenthal Institute) - together with the creators and supporters of the scabies/короста on the body of our nation - current puppet néonazi anti-Ukrainian regime in Ukraine. The Hitler collaborators are the main heroes of this regime, the elite force of its army is "Azov" - which was recognized as a néonazi organization even by the US Congress, the slogans and greetings of this regime are copied from the ones of the Hitler collaborators, the anti-nazi are killed by the "death squads" or imprisoned, the national thinker Oles' Busina is demonstratively killed and his killers are funded by the government! The people who really care about the civilization on the planet Earth and the free-thinking Ukrainians will always remember and hunt (again, to bring to the justice - as Wiesenthal did) the war criminals who have brought and/or supported puppet néonazi regime in Ukraine and started the Civil war in our country ⚡
Two Brilliant Professors. Thank you very much for your insights. Question: Why is it that politicians who ruin entire Countries or economies are not held accountable? Instead, they often live well-funded lives on luxurious islands after their terms, while dictators like Gaddafi are either murdered or brought before the tribunal in Den Haag.
If you all kick out the USA & UK and then work on a comprehensive security agreement with Russia and the whole of Europe surely that would be a good thing ?
A word of wisdom “Peace can only achieve if sought through struggle, but diminish when sought through temporization”. It’s always better to rely on oneself rather than ask for help from others, especially in a decisive moment of live or death from a claimed threat. European had enjoyed collective hegemony and project its power beyond its reach for too long to end up with to subjugate and capitulate itself to become the vassal of US hegemon. Can’t see any sense of self-awakening for European any time soon. Most likely European will hit the wall hard and become insignificant to, if not abandoned by, the rest, before standing on two feet decades away.
@ Yes. European may still believe Trump 2016 was an aberration, yet Trump 2024 is a strong sign of US isolationism which suggests “European abandonment”.
The key to building a successful better alternative to the US empire is to return sovereignty to every country. The current BRIC system needs to change. First to open membership to every country. Second no country has veto power. A better UN committed to return sovereignty to every country. Financial sovereignty - no longer slaves to foreign financial institutions. Peace sovereignty - no longer risks of military escalation. Such as removal of nuclear weapons from Europe that could target Russia and vice versa. Food sovereignty - zero tolerance to famine and poverty. Industrial sovereignty - no country should be slaves to another.
I don’t think Russia, and extendable the global south, will be interested to re-friend with European until colonialism mindset combined with a complete elimination of patronizing attitude is first behaved. A willingness to discuss a pan-European security architecture with Russia on equitable terms can be the most important step forward.
The problem is the US, not Russia. At the end of WWII Germany wasn't appeased for its aggression. Why should we do so for the US. The world must come together as a community and find a solution that punishes the aggressor. If not, peace is impossible.
Winning what? They have lost c600 000 troops, they have lost thousands of tanks and other military equipment, just what and how do you think they are "winning"?
I am American born to Russian parents. Born in the year of Einstein's death. No correlation. Trust me, America, the whole, does not get or understand war. It's just a vauge something we are the best at and always win. I spent decades in the MICC. Our insanity in the 90's and 2000's was apparent to anyone with eyes. I changed my career path in the 90's. Not a lateral pay move. Until there is modern, industrial scale warfare on the North American continent, Americans as a nation will never grasp the devastation heartbreak and finality of war. Russians understand, probably better than most. Russia has lots of territory. Ukrainian and Russian has always been a complicated family relationship. My family included. A big mountain range where the river sits would be an act of a truly benevolant god.
Ever since the WW2 the West drove this hegemonic operating system for 75 years on, we have arrived to this uncertainty as an existence and the driving force are the thinktanks, who stuck to the same strategic Modus Operandi, for 75 years and they failed, how is it possible that they will be in a position today and the near future to challenge this non-hegemony we all seek. The countries driving this change have had 75 years to create a formidable response to this and are prepared both militarily and economically to meet those challenges. All we want is a a united world and not divided into two spheres and if that is what the West wants then by all means do as you please and leave our countries and hemisphere, get the F... OUT, or sit around a table and talk, Simple as that. Thank you for this talk and a bit irritating that in the 21st century we need to pander to these child like weaklings for them to develop at the least and inch of integrity , and hope the European and American population can clearly see who is on the correct path to renewal, not towards the abyss. PUT PRESSURE ON THESE MONEY GRABBING, GUTLESS AND ABOVE ALL CASTRATED COWARDS.
Russia generally has no need to negotiate with Europe. With the expensive energy that the EU currently pays, it is unsustainable in political, economic and any other respect. Russia should continue what it is doing, which is cooperation with others who want it BRICS. America wants the war to continue, but without the support of the EU, it will not intensify the war for long either, because if the EU does not want to participate, America will have to send its army and directly enter into conflict with Russia, and that will certainly not happen, America wants someone fight the war for her. It all boils down to who will last longer, and right now it's Russia, which has better, more loyal allies and which generally hasn't lost anything from the market. Everything produced by Russia can be sold as weapons, food, industrial products. She can buy everything she needs from her allies, including semiconductors or chips and other modern technology that she could only buy in the West until yesterday. If Russia wins militarily, it cannot lose in negotiations, especially because it has clearly stated the conditions under which it will not go.
They're not blind. Russia has taken 21% of Ukraine, even after 3 years. Russian sympathisers claiming Russia has won because it takes fields, and small settlements is just deluded. This is a huge win for Ukraine. Ukraine has kept 79% of its territory from the second largest army in the world, even with Chinese, Iranian and North Korean soldiers, weapons platforms, and ammunition. Everyday they tell us how Ukraine is collapsing, yet nothing has collapsed, they keep fighting.
Russia saw Ukraiian neutrality and didn«t like it. Then it spread its lies and started war. At first they were just civil wars - excuses so that he could later invade (the same abject tactics used in Georgia or Moldova). Then, as its intimidation tactics failed, it went full-force into Ukraine, destroying, murdering, raping, spreading terror and forcing itself into a formerly NEUTRAL independent country that trusted Russia would not fall back into barbarism, colonialism, imperialism. Now Russia has shown its true collors... after losing over 700.000 of its own men.

Very good and sharp analysis, but the role of elitarism and fascism for EU national identity and EU dictatorship is also very important here. The Anglosaxons can only promote neofascism and violence, when the soil is fertile for such influences, like it was in the last 1000 years in Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Co.
Thank you for this interview with Glenn. Why is it not possible to understand the reasoned arguments? Good luck to BRICS I hope they will succeed in balancing out European madness for power at all costs.😅

Exactly. Just see how many people decided to go to Russia from Kherson when it was abandoned and get the Russian citizenship, and it's not like anyone forced them to. Russia only in this occasion gained far more economically active people than it is going to loose because of this war, no matter how cynical this sounds. And those who left Ukraine and went to EU for sure will do everything they can to not go back.
Beautiful. I'm British and support those people in eastern Ukraine that choose to return to being Russian. Taking their lands and homes back home where they belong
The Russians conquered these lands from the Khazars and the nomads, and settled them. Who else could live there except the Russians? "Ukrainian" is a citizenship, not a nationality.
If you have won the war, then you have won the peace deal. I'm not sure why people think that putin in some way is a mug. Does anyone who looks at this situation believe that Ukraine has anything to negotiate with ? Russia was forced to spend billions on a war, which cost the lives of close to a million souls. Any talk of giving back territory is ludicrous, and as for nato, it's a no
The European Union was marketed and advertised to hoi polloi as an "alternative" to US dominance and hegemony. It has never been and could never be, both structurally and in terms of personnel.

CLARIFICATION (4:10) : Truman did say, "US should help the USSR if they are losing, help the Nazis if they are losing...." But he wasn't President he was Senator from Missouri, and it was before we entered the war. FDR was elected President in 1932, 1936, & in 1940 his VP was the USSR-loving Henry Wallace. He was reelected in 1944 with Truman. So in Jan. of 1945 Truman became VP, and the war in Europe was fundamentally over. Truman became President in April of that year.
For Russia it doesn't really matter if this whole incident ends up with peace, since they've already managed to reorient the focus of their economy from west to the east. Seems to me, that they'd actually prefer the war to keep going for a while longer, so that they can capture another layer of Ukrainian Oblast - Odesa, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kryvohrad, Poltava.
Russia economy is hurting they cant sell as much gas to Asia as they sold to Europe (5x less) the economy is a war economy 40% budget is on military productive investment is impossible with high interest rates 21% and high inflation. Russia is certainly not strengthened
I keep thinking that Glenn makes one mistake: some people REMEMBER world dominance by the liberal hegemony, but who tries to PRACTICE it now? We have "rule based world order" with very little pretense that those rules are "liberal", and after doing it for quite a while internationally, the West becomes less and less liberal at home. Other remark. During the first term in office, Europeans formulated opposition for this and that action of Trump, especially breaking JCPOA, but after a period of plaintive complains they obeyed. That was the last time I noticed opposition of major European countries to USA. And when was the last time USA had at least seemingly intelligent leader?
Russia must send a strong message to Europe, one way or another. Imagine, Ursula loves Vladimir, Vladimir loves Ursula ❤ will the fates ever allow their love to flourish?
What is even more interesting in the USA election is that the real majority is the number of eligible voters that didn’t vote at all. They are the actual majority so what does democracy actually mean?
Not democracy. Pseudo-democracy, or potentially partial democracy. Decisions are made behind closed door where you can't see or hear them. Especially in US. Your foreign policies tends to remain mostly the same regardless of which party holds office, extremly warmongering and exploitative policies. Trump/Biden is not really sitting top of the mountain, is he ?
I would like to hear what Mr. Diesen thinks about a point that J. Mearsheimer makes. According to Mearsheimer, the hegemonic power of the USA over Europe is in the interests of the Europeans. He says that without the US Army in the EU, the EU states would no longer trust each other and would enter into a kind of Cold War and the borders would be closed again because, for example, the Dutch would be afraid of Germany and Spain would be afraid of France, etc. Furthermore, the economy would suffer greatly from the situation. If this is a real danger, we would have to start here first.
A tragic contradiction to win on the battlefield but without beating the enemy who is totally financed by the rich West. I guess Russia avoids further escalation by not seizing or destroying Odessa and Kiev which they easiely could. Best result might be a stalemate and a demarcation line like between South and North Corea. Russia will not give up either Crimea nor the four integrated oblasts, to maintain a buffer zone. The rump state Ukraine cannot join NATO as long as Russian troops are on their border. I guess that is mission accomplished for Putin
Always good interviews. But I am curious -- no one outside the United States who is rationally discussing the issues seems to be aware of how establishment US official publications have documented in exhausting detail how the country is not only collapsing, but has already collapsed in almost all of its foundations. Trillions of dollars needed just to maintain an aging infrastructure that is 50 years older than what is seen in recently developed countries. Lack of modernization of systems in a manner that is hard to belief, everything from banks still running decades old programs in Cobol, Eastern ports where the workers vow to resist any automation, an almost nonexistent public transit compared to Europe or Asia, etc. And recently all sides of the political spectrum are acknowledging that even college students at elite universities are functionally illiterate, unable to read a couple dozen pages, understand them, and then analyze. Why isn't everyone, particularly from Europe, seeing the US is today's equivalent of the former Soviet Union just before it fell? There are astounding parallels including an interest in official reports on UFOs / UAPs. The United States is facing the same choice as the former Soviet Union, whether to try a hopeless last-ditch reform under Gorbachev or whether to use the military build-up to try a desperate attack on Western Europe to force open that region, drive out the United States, and then use Europe to rebuild and reform the Soviet Union.
Yes, I agree with you. I think that the average American is convinced that their country is still the greatest country on Earth. And an expensive education does not seem to provide them with the essential skills needed to succeed in a very competitive world. Certainly, critical thinking and independent thought seem to be sorely lacking. I fear that if the average American had a 2 week vacation in China and saw how it has developed they would inevitably make comparisons with their own country and wonder where their taxes had been spent, as China’s infrastructure is quite impressive. I think we are witnessing the deterioration of the American Empire and its loss of global influence.🎉
EU/NATO is the eastern wind of the American Empire. Facing similar detrimental conditions as the AngloZio core. The problem is systemic and evolutionary in nature. The can has been kicked down the road for so long, that it is about to end up in the ditch. The Economic system is breaking down due to debt overload. A debt moratorium is nowhere in sight or even on the table.
You're correct with your description of the US's decline and how many americans dont seem to be aware of the level of decline. But, the description of the soviet union is way off. It wasn't facing collapse. Soviet citizens wanted more choices in consumer goods. It only started facing collapse because Gorbachev followed econ policies suggested by America to supposedly give the people more of what they wanted. Ultimately it collapsed because Yesltsin & co needed to break it up in order to remove the old guard and grab power. We've been sold a lie about the end of the USSR just like we're being sold a lie now about whats happening between Ukraine/Russia.
I don't think that Russia *can* give up these territories. A big part of the issue is that the people who decided to still live there under Russian occupation voted to join the Russian federation and this means that they are now Russian citizens. And a country cannot just hand its own citizens back to a hostile power. What Russia *could* do though is give permission to these oblasts to negotiate over any possible return to Ukraine if they can come up acceptable terms. I suspect that Russia will even do this because if the negotiations succeed in allowing for reunification, then all concessions will be additional concessions to Russia-friendly groups and very much to Russia's benefit and if the talks fail then this could legitimize Russia's claim over the territories.
I commented before on another post about the referendums in Donbas and Pascal challenged me to provide some evidence of the referendums but I can’t find any. The circumstantial evidence that they happened is everywhere as is evidence of the strong desire of people in Donetsk, Luhansk and elsewhere to fight the Ukrainian army and become Russian citizens. I’ve seen many videos of people queuing up to get Russian citizenship and celebrating the establishment of Russian infrastructure like government offices, etc. but I haven’t found hard evidence of the referendums and the number of votes.
People have died, all for NATOs stupidity. I doubt the Russians are interested in dealing with these really ignorant obnoxious so called elite in the West. They are pathetic and not worth dealing with. And I say that belonging to the west. Never been to Russia and have no connection to that part of the world. We are the ones who are stupid.
WorldTravelerCooking - How could you posibly think Russia doesnt feel like they have full claim over the territory they have fought for, especially after the referendum.. You seriously think Russia would entertain handing over territory in which 14.000 people has been killed by the Ukrainian state since 2014. There's number of reasons why that could never happen. Reason 1, The Ukrainian state hates the people in these territories so the people living there's very lives depend on them being a part of Russia, so you answered your own question there. Second reason: Russia cannot take the risk having hostile weapons anywhere near that region, yet alone IN those regions. Third reason: Russia could never trust any promise made by the other side, >Istanbul peacetalks case in point< where peacetalks was used as a means to regroup and renew the attack on Russia while the west mocked Russia in the press for "being weak" for falling for it.. Not to mention the many other broken promises before that.. These Oblasts would never negotiate such a thing on their own either, even if they could, for the same reasons I've outlined. I find it kind of strange that you knnow what you know, but somehow you dont realize any of this.. 🤔
Why would Russia want to turn “Ukraine” into “Japan”?! Japanese culture is radically different from European/American. But “Ukrainians” = Russians + Russophobia. All the Russians need to do is to root out the Russophobia from former Ukraine. And Russia has a lot of experience doing that. There are many strategies here these two guys do not even see, let alone understand. For example, bring pro-Russian Ukrainians to power in former Ukraine, on the condition of cleansing the anti-Russian elements from every corner of social life. Roll back the “ukrainianization” and so called “rooting” that the Soviet and even Empire’s governments conducted on the people that called itself “Russians” for centuries.
War stop means game over for Zelensky and his team. They would probably be killed or jailed. They know it and thats why Zelensky is doing all to continue the war.
Odessa is a russian city for Russia.when you think about war in Ukraine you know what you ( NATO ) can do to weaken Russia if Russia will do ( ect ect ) but you don't understand what Russia can do. NATO in war with huge war power. Russia have huge submarine fleet . What EU will do if Russia will use submarines to attack ships in atlantic? Prices for everything will skyrocket like crazy. You need to think not about Russia but yours countries . You need Russian market and energy resources . If you will think about Ukraine you will destroy yourself. Noble sacrifice mby? Don't think so.
Neutrality Studies, hahahahaha. what a joke. If you're rooting for Putin than at least have the integrity to admit it. That's the only issue I have here.
"There can be great defeat coming out of victory," Pascal says. I agree with this sentiment which was put slightly differently by A.J. Muste after the second world war. "The problem after a war is with the victor. He thinks he has just proved that war and violence pay. Who will now teach him a lesson." I found this quote in Noam Chomsky's book "American Power and The New Mandarins. We desperately need wisdom in this time when so many statesmen seem to be lacking in this quality. I believe that the two of you have this quality and am happy that you express it.
but the victor being defeated wont disprove anything, by your reasoning you would have to teach him a lesson without a fight otherwise its hypocritical
I hate it when intellectuals say they don't understand elite behavior and how it supposedly doesn't make sense. It's really messed up, but it makes sense. You just got duped. The system is doing what it was designed to do.

It seems as if Putin will invite North Koreans to occupy various areas in Ukraine when the war ends. Numerous North Koreans are already residing in Russia, especially in the Vladivostok region.

Hint: someone visited Zelensky in Kiev at that time
Russia's national security was compromised once NATO began to expand eastwards.

Russia's pivotal role for Multipolarism:
Russia has emerged as a pivotal player between the two superpowers, China and the United States.
While these actions achieved the immediate goals of separating the EU from Russia and weakening the EU economy, they also had unintended consequences:
Rejected by the EU, Russia naturally turned to China, forming a pragmatic alliance.
You have practically outlined the essence of the book "The Grand Chessboard: American Primacy and Its Geostrategic Imperatives"
When I read it back in 1999, I naively thought that these were the sick fantasies of an old man who lived the Cold War.
Tack!
Good program thank you.
The trouble is Russia idea of security is to dominate its neighbours
Problem is the social engineered Anglo tentacles into the "Euro Trash".
They will come to their sense under Donald Trump
Would you allow a repeat offender to live in your home? That's the first point.
Great analysis was provided by Professor Glenn Diesen, your broad education is highly appreciated and important in this chaotic world.
I don’t think Russia, and extendable the global south, will be interested to re-friend with European until colonialism mindset combined with a complete elimination of patronizing attitude is first behaved. A willingness to discuss a pan-European security architecture with Russia on equitable terms can be the most important step forward.
Agree
The problem is the US, not Russia. At the end of WWII Germany wasn't appeased for its aggression. Why should we do so for the US. The world must come together as a community and find a solution that punishes the aggressor. If not, peace is impossible.
Excellent Interview 😊😊😊😊😊
Dr Glenn Diesen is smart indeed! Deep insights 👍👌 thx neutrality studies🙏👍 thx Pascal 👍👌

Thankfully Russia is winning. That's all that matters.
The west has the potential to reform eventually for the better thanks to it.
As russian born in the year of USSR death, im totally agree.
Obscene and perverse are two appropriate adjectives for the west today...
It's a moot point. How can you "win the peace" against warmongers and pathological liars?
I think EU is blind by not seeing and realizing the victory of Russia in this war.
The real issue is the EU does not realise the US provoked this war to weaken Europe

Thank you for a conceptually refreshing discussion!
Russia saw that the neutrality was good, and Russia separated the peace from the war.
Ukraine gave up any claim to have security, by giving up their neutral status. Greed for the Yankee dollar has destroyed them.
I'm always totally enthralled when you two discuss geopolitics and especially this thorny issue of the was in Ukraine.
Thank you so much for taking your viewers into deep dives not found elsewhere. 🙏
Pascal Lottaz and Glen Diesen, they are both very decent. 😊
I love the way you think ❤ thank you
Glenn Diesen is brilliant in his analysis
One of the best Glenn’s
Concede. It will be good for Ukraine and Ukraineians still alive. May not be for Zelensky though.
Thank you for this interview with Glenn. Why is it not possible to understand the reasoned arguments?
Good luck to BRICS I hope they will succeed in balancing out European madness for power at all costs.😅
The prospect for Europe is obviously a rerun of the 30's depression.
Name a single policy BRICS has implemented. It's a nothingness.
Great discussion.
Sorry, the russianns did not annex - they were asked to come to aid to the russian speaking majority in these areas, having been bombed and agressed for 8 jeats (- now more then 10) - then they voted for belonging to russia. What is demokratie, if it is not according to a voting of the people concerned? No elections, church interdicted, language dictate - yeah, sounds like trademark democrature
Sorry, blackrock and the like are not specially interrested in peace - destruction provides profits just as well, and augments profits ahead...
One of those vloggers covering the war asked a little girl in Lisichansk what her nationality was
She answered in Russian
The former comie eastern block have a slightly different concept of nationality than in the west, bordering ethnicity.
Beautiful. I'm British and support those people in eastern Ukraine that choose to return to being Russian. Taking their lands and homes back home where they belong
@@iRelevant.47.system.boycott Nevertheless, the girl has the right to self-determination. It is not in your competence to dispute this.
The Russians conquered these lands from the Khazars and the nomads, and settled them. Who else could live there except the Russians? "Ukrainian" is a citizenship, not a nationality.
"when peace breaks out" gave me a chuckle.
Russia liberate Ukraine not invade
Uniquely detailed discussion.
If you have won the war, then you have won the peace deal.
I'm not sure why people think that putin in some way is a mug.

@@HK-zf7opyeah, and they have time to build civil planes too. And weapons can be sold too.
LOL re. Vladimir & Ursula.
Ursula is history after the war is over, same as the majority of western politicians.
To win the peace the americans must lose the thucidedes mentality
Interesting reflections.
After the Minsk agreements and Ukraine’s failure to honor them, I don’t think the Russians would ever rely on a written agreement signed with Ukraine.
War criminals are not rewarded 😅
Winning and peace don’t mix
Just give Europe time to think. 10 years after war would be won might suffice
