Regarding the art at the start of the chapters: Berserk was released originally in a weekly manga (compilation) magazine. In those you can earn colored pages if you story runs well. Sadly the official English Berserk books don't reflect this. But you can always see the difference in art. But they at least included some of the colored posters into the deluxe versions.
