I once used 2 different Amazon 8 Fire Tablets. I switched to an Onn 8 inch Android Tablet. I like it so much better since it is real Android. Yes go ahead & make a video on how to side load Google Play on the Fire Tablets. I got Google Play on one of my Fire Tablets & it had some problems with some apps not working or not working correctly. Thanks for the great review. You really can't beat the price of these when they go on sale. As a matter of fact, I managed to get a non-ad version of this tablet on Prime day for $165. The ad version was $149. If you trade in an older Amazon tablet you can save even more.

nice review! i actually like the rubberish back of the lower speced fire devices. makes holding it easier, rather than the smooth metal. i was considering this max 11 over my current 10+ but the backing, combined with the lack of the 3.5mm jack means that i'll just hold on to the older 10 +
I used my fire 10 on show mode, Even though my model doesn't have wireless charging. I just leave it plugged in. I'm not too worried about the impact on the battery, I think cycling it would be just as bad and these things are so cheap anyways. It is a nice value add because with tablets sometimes you feel like you're not getting your money's worth when they're wasting away in a drawer. That happens a lot more now that we're using much larger phones.
Considering the price and the features it offers, the Amazon FireMax 11 amped up with mediatek chip seems like a steal! With its long battery life and best performance among Amazon tablets, it's definitely worth considering.
The old Fire Hdx series were the best tablets Amazon ever offered. I still use the 10 year old 7" Hdx and the screen quality blows away all the newer ones.

Was about to get this, but no Google play store is a no go. Can’t add Google email, and not the browser I want. So, I passed. I decided to go with a really good laptop for an extra 100$ if you include tax with the accessories with this tablet. The laptop I ordered has 20 ram, and 1tb of storage. It’s a 2023 model with a SSD with Windows 11 Plus.
Thats kind of crazy this new one doesn't have a headphone jack. I mean bluetooth is an option sure, but thats quite disappointing that it doesnt have BOTH options. Its such a tiny port to add to most devices too.
This is the second review of this tablet I watched that I have no idea why I did haha. I'll never buy another Fire Tablet due to the no Google Playstore thing. I've tried the hacks (easy last time), just wasn't good enough for me. I still have my Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ that I love which I'll prob keep for a long time the way it's held up for me. Good review as always!
Good tablets and I like Samsung tablets but they cost a lot of money like the tab s8 unless you finance on Amazon for 12 months. The new Google pixel tablet is entertaining.
I bought a 10" Fire tablet a couple of years ago and installed Play store etc. Hated the fact that I was stuck with the default launcher and if installed a 3rd party one you could not make it the default. After a month i wert back to my old Samsung tablet.
Helpful and informative review thanks. I decided to go for this. Excellent screen, fingerprint on the on button. Very good price (£134 atm). Excellent battery life. Multi user support. Plenty of apps that I use and browser access for the likes of Gmail etc or simply side load (which is easy but using browser UA-cam for example, sideloading is unnecessary). SD card and camera for landscape mode suits me perfectly.
I recently got the tablet. Ads do not bother me at all. So far I have major problem with SD card. Amazon supports Microsoft a lot, but they couldn't negotiate licensing for ExFAT, so SD card gets formatted using FAT32. Another funny thing, I got 512Gb card, however if I choose to format this card for an internal use, it disappeared after. I believe it got linked to Android directory and it isn't what I wanted. It's a family device for me too, so I simply selected no security. So I recommend the device to software professionals.
Nice comprehensive review. Very much appreciated. One thing I’ve noticed, however is the downloads of videos off the internet. Not Netflix or any of the other streaming services, but regular internet. I have the very first Fire tablet and I’m able to download anything and everything without any special apps. Why can’t we download vids off the internet with this newer version? Thank you.
I'm not sure if this helps, but whatever program you are using for your downloading, make sure to go into the settings and make sure to give it permission to download files from unknown sources.
I have a mac book pro and looking a decent but still good affordable budget friendly tablet for basic entertainment so this convince me to get the fire tablet.
At this price you could get something like the Lenovo Chromebook duet 3 or 5 -- maybe even the 8 GB of RAM model. . Those come with the keyboard and folio. But it does look nice, I do like the fabric look which is also what the duet does. Just not crazy about fire os. You have to side load the Play store which isn't hard but can get complicated by updates
The only duets equivalent in price are almost identical in specs, that being the 4gig models. And once you step into that $500 price range, it's silly to drop that much on a Chromebook.
No headphone jack is a terrible move IMHO. I know I'm in the minority, but I love my wired headphones. And like the option to use them. My current FIre HD 8 is great and has that feature, though getting a bit slower in more intensive tasks.
I been using my Fire HD10 for more than a year now and I still love it. I'm just surprise that Amazon removed the headphone jack on this new one. I always like using my wired headphones compared to my wireless ones. And if I use a dongle for the headphones how can I connect my external drives to it.
Thanks for the video. Do the streaming apps such as Netflix and Hulu offer a picture-in-picture function like the iPad? I prefer PIP over split screen most of the time. Thanks again.
Hope the advertising industry never figures out how to inundate us with repeated ad nauseam, and social engineering ads in our sleep or nobody will ever sleep through the night again.
The top of the shortlist for "Project Leader We're Going To Fire" will be whoever pitched this to the Amazon board (the guy was probably in the old office for whoever pitched the Amazon phone). This reminds me of the time McDonald's thought they could gain more market share by introducing "premium gourmet" burgers. People only put up with Amazon's ads and the locked-down, dead-end, never-updated OS with its lack of Google Play because they're cheap and disposable. Perfect for giving to a kid or a grandma. But make an expensive version, and there's no reason to not just get a real Android tablet or Chromebook with the exact same chipset for the same price that will actually receive updates.

The downside is that Amazon are getting better at blocking the Google play store and Google play services. You get it working and then days later it will break. It doesn't matter for a lot of apps, but some are more fussy, like UA-cam, UA-cam kids and such like. I understand why they want to lock you into their own software, since they're subsidizing the hardware. But still, it's kind of annoying.
This is not correct. Amazon has publicly stated that Google Play is fully supported on all models of the Fire Tablet, but you have to install it yourself.
@@lexluthermiester where can I find that statement? Because I've been buying the fire tablets for several years already and it's always a headache to keep the Google play services working properly. Just look at the thousands of forum threads where people discuss the difficulties. I'm not saying it can't be done. It can, but it's a hassle and it often breaks between firmware updates. And it's always harder on the newer devices because it takes time for people to find a way to get it working.
@@lexluthermiester there's even people in this very comment section highlighting the same problems that I described. Yes you can install it, but you'll often have issues between firmware updates and with those apps which heavily integrate the Google play services, such as UA-cam and UA-cam kids. And the newer the model of tablet the harder it is to get it working reliably. As I keep saying, it can.be done but it's a hassle and comes with a lot of ongoing issues. You're the one that says Amazon claim to support and allow the installation of google play and Google play services, so I hope you can show where they said that. Because I can't find any such statement from Amazon.
If people like me wants to get a tablet that has the real and best android experience get the onn its great. Or basically any other tablets like the headwolf, oneplus, even a Samsung.
Nice review Lon, glad the performance has improved somewhat, I hated browsing the web on my Fire 10 tablet. That being said it's so much slower thatn my iPad air 3rd Gen and my Pixel 7 that it would still dirve me crazy. One other thing that would drive me nuts is those insanely thick benzels. One correction, you mentioned it isn't laminated, that has nothing to do with finger prints, it has to do with way the screen is made, laminated screend do not have an air gap in them between the glass and the screen and non-lamited ones do which is why I always buy the laminated iPad airr and not the regular iPad.
No headphone jack Suddenly the tablet is near useless to me Amazon cutting the dumbest cheapest expenses to get the price down, while still making it "premium" feeling
It may not have wireless charging but it does have the edge connector so I hope Amazon releases a speaker charging dock that turns this into an echo show at some point but if they donlt is there anything stopping 3rd party manufacutrers from making one? I think Amazon is pretty open and doesnlt stop other companies from making accessories. it is really odd to see the Pixel tablet have a speaker dock and not this, also odd that this has productivity bundle and the pixel tablet doesn't it should have been reversed, the pixel should have been market asa productivty tablet and this shold have been marketed as the smart display dockable tablet. there is no keyoard for the pixel tablet and not speaker dock for the fire max 11 which is really weird considering the pixel is much better suited for productivit with its tensor ship and double the RAM. I think both tablters whould offer keyboards and speaker charging docks though just tha it makes more sense for the pixel to have a folio keyboard cas and fire maxx 11 to have a speaker dock, which is the exact opposite of what these cpmpletly clueless big tech companie have done.

The problem is that fire launcher is shit and Amazon has blocked all the good workarounds for replacing he fire launcher now. the 2 remainig methods both suck now. you can no longer disable an Amazon process like fire launcher or use PM disbale. ones method for relpacing the launcher is good but it doesnlt survive reboot so you will have to connect to a POC every time you reboot your tablet to get your laincher back and ther other method survies reboot but it sucks and is buggy and slows the tablet down even more and take a lot of space to install the required apps and it doesnlt work good and glitches out all the time. unless XDA foud a better way, I havenlt been following it lately but a few months ago my HD 8 got a forced update annd now i can no lobger disable the fire launcher

I almost wonder if the Amazon kindles are designed in software to slow down over time, or if they get more and more bloated like Windows does over time. Even doing factory resets and setting mine back up like new it just gets slow and slower. the only thing I do on it is Audible books and Kindle books. I don't browse the internet, use the camera, game, or use other apps. Sometimes I just want to throw the thing out the window. My previous Barnes & Noble Nooks did the same thing....until the wifi stopped working on two of them! No headphone jack on this one though! Come on! Sometimes wireless headphones run out of power at the wrong time.
You cant have faster charging but heres a fingerprint reader 😂 nice job amazon. Ditch the fingerprint and get a faster charger speed is what they need to do lol.
Overpriced, lower spec than other tablets available and crippled with Amazon eco system and ads. Why would anyone consider this when you can get a larger tablet from Honor, tab 8 that suppresses it in all aspects, screen, memory, storage, speakers. Amazon had an opportunity here but in my opinion they failed terribly. I loved my Amazon tablet Pro 10 until I purchase the Honor tab 8. Tab 8 blows the 10 and the new 11 Max out the water, amazing screen and the speakers are brilliant, 6GB ram compared to 4GB, no issues with anything I have tried. Only bonus on the Amazon Max 11 is the SD storage but external storage is just as good on the Honor Tab 8. Sorry Amazon failure, anyone else check out Honor Tab 8, cheaper and better overall.
Nope, not even close. Its only got one power port and no audio port and none of the splitters work with this kindle. This is my 3rd kindle and the worst one ever. I hate this version 11, its built really cheap.

@@GadgetAddict
Google is your friend, use it. I've had no difficulties installing(sideloading) and running Google play on my Fire Tablet.
Is the Amazon Fire Max 11 with its MediaTek octa-core processor as good as they claim? I'm intrigued by its performance.
It’s twice as powerful as the 10 pro
have two fire hd10 and can't wait for them to break so i can get rid of them.
I may get one
Is it still 32 bit?
Does anyone know if you can use the tablet while charging?
yes
@@LonSeidman thank you mate
No headphone jack
Suddenly the tablet is near useless to me
Amazon cutting the dumbest cheapest expenses to get the price down, while still making it "premium" feeling
Do you use 8 track tapes too?
can it play av1 files ?
no quick charge? fire 10 has it. at least last two models. wth?
It may not have wireless charging but it does have the edge connector so I hope Amazon releases a speaker charging dock that turns this into an echo show at some point but if they donlt is there anything stopping 3rd party manufacutrers from making one?
I think Amazon is pretty open and doesnlt stop other companies from making accessories.
it is really odd to see the Pixel tablet have a speaker dock and not this, also odd that this has productivity bundle and the pixel tablet doesn't
it should have been reversed, the pixel should have been market asa productivty tablet and this shold have been marketed as the smart display dockable tablet.
there is no keyoard for the pixel tablet and not speaker dock for the fire max 11 which is really weird considering the pixel is much better suited for productivit with its tensor ship and double the RAM.
I think both tablters whould offer keyboards and speaker charging docks though just tha it makes more sense for the pixel to have a folio keyboard cas and fire maxx 11 to have a speaker dock, which is the exact opposite of what these cpmpletly clueless big tech companie have done.
Thanks. I was finished with the video when I heard $229. That's about 23 dozen eggs and I need to eat.
lion site?
Why buy this when ipad 9th Gen is about the same price?
The ipad 9th gen has an older processor and doesn't have an aluminum back and the storage on the 9th gen only has 64gbs compared to the 128gb tablet.
@@Shayne2555 Old or not, the iPad 9 processor is WAY faster than this one (14:31), does have an aluminum chassis, and has 64 GB of storage just like this one (256 GB optional).
Watching the Arnold doc I see 😂
Where did you get the stand.
These tablets are junk full of bloatware bad app store and ads. So many better opinions out there.
To much money I got iPad Pro 12 and 11 and iPad 10. Also I have a kindle 7 new one. But Amazon kindles are boring
2010 called and they want their thick bezels back
how do you guys hold a tablet without any bezels?
Rather easy to update it to a full-on Google tablet, many videos show you how
The problem is that fire launcher is shit and Amazon has blocked all the good workarounds for replacing he fire launcher now.
the 2 remainig methods both suck now.
you can no longer disable an Amazon process like fire launcher or use PM disbale.
ones method for relpacing the launcher is good but it doesnlt survive reboot so you will have to connect to a POC every time you reboot your tablet to get your laincher back and ther other method survies reboot but it sucks and is buggy and slows the tablet down even more and take a lot of space to install the required apps and it doesnlt work good and glitches out all the time. unless XDA foud a better way, I havenlt been following it lately but a few months ago my HD 8 got a forced update annd now i can no lobger disable the fire launcher
1.67 to 1 = 16.9 aspect ratio cool for movie watching
does it still use fat 32?
Hi Lon how are you doing today the Amazon fire 11 it is amazing that table is awesome everyone should get the Amazon fire 11 right Lon your awesome Lon and thanks for sharing this with us and keep up the good work and you rock🎸lon and enjoy your fathers day weekend and God bless you to your family😀😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
Can you get Apple TV app on this??
You can also hack it to make it normal android without ads.
Or you can buy headphones for usb-c...
No mention if this tablet has cellular connectivity.
That’s because it doesn’t
@@LonSeidman Which could have been mentioned; thank you, sir. All your work is appreciated.
@@ChesterPaulSgroi No fire tablet has evn had an LTE modem

Never buy BRAND X. That tablet is BRAND X
This is 2023 and no hdmi out.
Nope, not even close. Its only got one power port and no audio port and none of the splitters work with this kindle. This is my 3rd kindle and the worst one ever. I hate this version 11, its built really cheap.
Not much of a Upgrade from 10 not worth the money to me wait till the next upgrades
Amazon advertise incoming
Amazon store sucks
its crap, just pay extra to get an ipad
it is still junk ....maybe next iteration will be decent.
Fire tablets are great for kids, but the sweet spot is the 8" model for that. Not sure who this device is for.
@@RoastBeefSandwichmaybe a good tablet for grandparents? Haven’t played around with Fire OS, but being paired with Amazon/kindle seems convenient for non tech people
@@mightymouse9001 I like iOS or ChromeOS better for the elderly personally. The thing about Fire tablets for kids to me is they're cheap and good enough. Not that they're particularly good tablets, just that they're cheap.
The software is outdated and awful . This is not productivity tablet. Good to watch movies. No good apps at their app store for productivity
