- The Illinois Railway Museum is the largest railroad museum in the United States, and while it has engines/rolling stock from many railroads, two in particular have a significant presence. The Chicago and Northwestern and Milwaukee Road were definitely significant especially in the midwest and both have several diesels each along with many cars and things. With the new main street area being built by the entrance, both railroads have their own building for the historical society's based in the region. The Milwaukee Roads had been open for a couple years but since this was Chicago and Northwestern weekend it was the dedication for that building as well. Pretty much every CNW diesel at the museum are in operating condition and I would see most of them at some point. This video focuses on mostly the Chicago and Northwestern equipment operating along with the big diesel/steam barn and some outdoor equipment. UP 1995 (CNW heritage SD70ACe) was a visitor for the weekend as well. Enjoy and don't forget to comment and subscribe!!
Engines operating include
CNW 7009 (SD50) pulling a coach train
CNW 4160 (GP7R normally CRIP 4506 but temporarily given CNW reporting marks for the weekend as it ran with the CNW at one point) would fetch UP 1995 to display it next to the large Santa Fe sign
CNW 411 (F7A) pulling the CNW bilevels
CNW 1518 (GP7 also the first Geep built) pulling a freight train
CNW 1689 (RSD5) pulling a coach/caboose train
Illinois railroad museum should either get a ATSF dash 9 or an SP AC4400CW to add in the collection
Wow! Excellent catching all the trains at the Illinois Railway Museum, I like them, they're awesome, @topgearrocks88, thank you very much.
