      @@lauraluna337 it’s so cheap over here to get hair done, it usually takes around 5-6 hours to do my platinum blonde roots with treatment and toner and it’s £75 pound that price also includes a cut and blow dry. I go to get my roots done every 4 weeks. I also go to get a wash and blow once or twice a week as it costs £12 pound . I can understand now why there are so many videos on UA-cam of people doing there own bleaching or there own hair colouring as it’s so so expensive in the US and Canada . Tbh if it was the same price as it is over there I wouldn’t be able to afford it. I think salon supplies must be a lot cheaper than in other countries. Xxx

    • @pmg-1
      @pmg-1 7 місяців тому +3

      I base my prices on time & how much product I use... $30 for an extra bowl of bleach seems pretty expensive on top of your base price shes already charging for extra long hair. I usually discount my prices when multiple services are added instead of everything "a la carte". I also think a root melt was unnecessary given the level of her natural base. Root melts given for a highlighted only service are imo only to cover up mistakes (hot roots, bleeds etc) .. But hey..more power to her if she can charge this rate...her prices are nothing compared to some California stylists who charge $2k and up...(usually an 8+hr service tho). And of course location & who you work for are other reasons for price flux.

    • @kellydupree6710

      I've never gotten a free haircut with my highlights. A few times they've overlapped some prior highlighted areas and damaged the ends a bit, so they trimmed a little off the bottom without charging me, but other than that I've always paid for a haircut if I get it done the same day. A few salons I've been to over the years actually charged extra for toning as well. Which seemed asinine to me... so I asked why they don't just increase the price of lightening services so that it's included (since 95% of lightening services need some form of toning to look good). The stylist was super honest with me and said 1. We do have a few customers who have a favorite toner (most likely T18 lol) and prefer to do it at home. 2. But mostly we do it because when new customers are searching online for a salon (comparing reviews and pricing), they see our photo gallery of beautiful blonde clients AND notice that our price for highlights are about $50 less expensive than other salons...so it gets them in the door!! Sometimes those new customers get a little aggravated when I ask if they would like any toning done as I'm taking out their foils- BUT as long as I do MY job well and they leave feeling beautiful and loving their hair, they keep coming back. Because at the end of the day, our final price is similar to other salons so they aren't actually spending a lot more - but it gets us new clients we might not have otherwise gotten.

    😮 i'm in the UK and have recently started on the journey back to being a Blondie. I was a bright red and before Christmas had it stripped which took two bleach washes. I then had multiple hair treatments in between the bleach washes and my new colours. I had a full head of highlights as well as a brown base colour. I had Olaplex each time too as well as a toner after my highlights. I then had a cut and style and I was given a treatment to take home for four washes, this cost me £98 and took two days.

And we get taxes on taxes on taxes over here. It's an extremely expensive place to live and my salon charges on the lower end for services.

    • @BobbyHairStudio
      @BobbyHairStudio  10 місяців тому +1

      You’re not only paying for the product (which is not $15 per bottle, btw.) you’re paying for the stylists time to apply the extra product.

    • @kellydupree6710
      @kellydupree6710 10 місяців тому +1

      They probably don't use a "bottle" of lightener. They probably buy a bag or a tin (with bag inside) of lightener. It then needs a bottle of developer to mix with it. Which would be much more than $15 for those products. But regardless, if the extra bowl weaved, foiled, and applied the lightener itself - They would probably only charge the actual cost of the extra product. Sadly, it doesn't. So it's extra product, which means extra work, which means extra time. I think sometimes we can forget that this is their job/income. For anyone paid hourly, if they got an extra shipment in that needed to be stocked that day...the employee isn't going to say "my 8 hour shift just ended, so you don't have to pay me for this extra hour of work...go ahead and clock me out." Just to give an analogy. It isn't just about the price of the product, you also have to add the extra work and time spent getting the extra bowl on the hair.

    • @silverkitty2503
      @silverkitty2503 10 місяців тому +4

      @@kellydupree6710 I am a hairdresser. Please stop a whole bottle of developer with lightening powder is like 25 dollars thirty max. YES I KNOW HOW TO MIX PRE LIGHTENER its A COMPLETE RIP OFF...NO IT DOESNT MEAN EXTRA WORK .. if you do bayalage you are obv going to use LESS foils but more lightener. its LESS work also with a bleach tint you will use WAY more lightener than foils but its way way LESS work. I KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT ITS A RIP OFF. Also that isnt how stylists are paid. They dont get paid per hr for diff types of work. They rent their chair and that is it. The salon doesnt pay a stylist per hr like that. Please stop talking about stuff you dont understand. 30 dollars per bowl ON top of what you are charging for the WORK of foiling like she listed the prices here ..is A RIP OFF .. a full head of highlights is a full head of highlights whether you use one bowl or three .. it really doesnt make a diff its the FOILING that is the work now if you said well i put in 50 foils that is 200 and 70 that is 220 dollars and 100 foils is 260 dollars THAT would make sense because to foil 100 foils is WAY more work than 50 foils! The amount of bowls you use doesnt make any difference in the workload! If can mean the hairdresser just likes to saturate the hair more than another hairdresser which is preference. The amount of WORK For highlights is how many foils and how thin or thick they are. I can use two bowls or three and it wouldnt really make much of a difference ... in fact MORE bleach can make the job easier and FASTER as you saturate each section and dont have to weave it so finely...using less bleach can make it a much harder job to do and can take longer.

    I believe you lost out on over $200. When it comes to lightening services, there should be a price point for long and extra long hair regarding if their hair type in fine. The toner should not be included in the service. It is a color application and you should be compensated for your time and expertise. The root smudge is priced fairly low. It is still considered a color. It should be priced as a color service because it is product being used. Lastly, the haircut is also priced low. For the client’s length and density, it will require technique. I’m sure you used layering and face-framing to complete the look. Overall, your price point is moderate; however, your time is your time and your expertise should match your price.
