I miss a completely healthy Andy Murray
he´s definetly missing the quickness and agility now he had here
We all do
He miss power too. @@superMarwin12345
Would be great to see Andy back to that sort of level
And you’ll continue to miss him because he’ll never be back to where he was
If both of them have stayed in perfect form, 2017 would've been one of the highest level season.
Thanks for finally uploading this underrated match ! Their best match is AO 2012. In best of three it's Shanghai 2012, even if this one was crazy.
I might go Shanghai 2012 as the best overall tbh
I still cannot believe how bad they got so quickly after this. Could you imagine AO 2017 and the rest of 2017 with these guys playing like this and Federer and Nadal resurgent again? Wimbledon and the USO would have been insane
Novak's elbow and Murray's hip unfortunately.
I’m a Rafa fan, so 2017 was a super pleasant surprise for me, but I have to admit the competition was super weak that year, especially for the second half of the season. At AO, Federer and Nadal each played 3-4 really tough matches so can’t knock that, and at RG at least Murray, Wawrinka, and Thiem were playing a very high level and even Novak was pretty good. But then by Wimbledon and USO, the competition dropped like flies, and the top 10 at the end of the year looked so weird outside of Nadal and Federer at the top. Dimitrov at #3 (which to be fair, he played some great tournaments that year), Jack Sock cracked the top 10, David Goffin made it, 19 year old Zverev was #4, Thiem made the top 5 despite having poor results off clay.
Looking back, it makes sense why we overhyped the next gen at the time. Relative to the non-big 3 competition, they were dominating. It was a weird in-between time where the big 4’s generation was falling quickly (like Ferrer, Wawrinka, Berdych, Tsonga, Cilic, and even Murray himself), while the “Next Gen” were teenagers and guys like Tsitsipas/Medvedev were nowhere to be found yet.
Novak was hitting the FH slow as ever before in this match, so no wonder he did so bad. He had an elbow injury, which later on he fixed with surgery.
The last good tournemant from both at that year Wimbledon and after that didnt play one tournemant that year
In a perfect world Fedal would retire after 2017 and Djorray era would begin.
Quality of this match was insane
The level of respect for each other at the net for the handshake, amazing =)
2017 is the worst year for Djokovic in his entire career - only two ATP 250 titles and mid-season withdrawal before surgery.
Defenitely NOT the best match between two multiple GS and Masters opponents in finals and just legends.
I was at this match- phenomenal- who would have had thought that would be one of the last matches we ever saw of Murray at his best
Last tournament from Murray in prime
He won Dubai a couple months later
Nah he played great at RG. Beat Del Potro and Nishikori before losing that epic to Wawrinka; probably one of his best RG runs.
Murray would have made the RG final if not for the injury he sustained.
@@jacobschmidt2709 Murray seemed like he just wanted to get off the court in the final stages of the Wawrinka match
It's crazy to think that this was the last match between the two, especially as novak had declared at the end of this match that it wouldn't be the last against andy and that they would of course play lots of other matches against each other.
Shanghai 2012 and Rome 2011 are the best Djokovic vs Murray matches
Also Olimpics SF 2012
And AO 2012
Best ATP matches. AO 2012 and USO 2012 may be their best slam matches.
Reminds what a great player he was.
Such a high level match. What a shame that they both developed those serious injuries almost straight after this
Their best and...last match ! Who would have thought this would be their last match?
16:12 Man did the commentator really have to drown out what they said to each other? I realize he probably didn’t think we’d hear them talk but I’m a lot more interested to hear what Murray and Djokovic have to say than “one of the best matches here in the 25 years of this tournament’s history”
Commentators are experts at speaking over the players and then speculating about what they might have been saying. Happens all the time.
We will miss you when you eventually hang up your racket. Great tennis and amoung the greats Andy.❤😢
Love that shake hands the best
I wish we were in this era
I really thought that race for number one with Djokovic costed Murray the rest of the career...
Classic 🤩
Back when these 2 were the best in the world. Childhood friends turned rivals on top of the world. They have charisma too which players these days don't have.
Best Doha tennis match ever
2:40 "that's what happened a point given... that is naughty" 🤣
Lol. More like "THAT... is naughty".
what did he actually mean was naughty - something Djokovic did or the umpire giving him a warning for what looked like nothing?!
They weren't playing anywhere near their best to reach the final... and then they produced this brutal beauty in the final...
Classical
If only Djokovic did not exist Murray would be sitting with 8-10 slams
Really wish Murray would be back to full fitness
Cannot over excel!
After this djoker got shocking upset @R2 of AO, struggled bad with injury and bad form & finally ended the season after wimby
Murray couldn't win anything big & got destroyed & injured playing his last grandslam SF match vs stan @ RG which also did damage to stans career with injuries & bad form.
Fedal has rejuvenated & completely dominated till djoker got resurrected on 2018 wimby & became the undisputed 🐐 he is now.
I feel like Murray had a bit of a hangover effect after finishing #1 in 2016, which was why his results to start 2017 weren’t very good. He found some form during clay season and his RG run was actually pretty great, but that unfortunately was the last great run of his career.
No one ever would’ve thought that at the time though. I remember Murray and Wawrinka played that epic SF, and it wasn’t even too sad that Murray lost simply because everyone knew Nadal would crush the winner regardless, but it was such an encouraging sign to see him be one set away from a final at his least favorite slam. Heading into Wimbledon he was probably a top 2 favorite; no one would’ve ever thought that 7 years later he wouldn’t ever have made the second week of a slam again.
Djokovic was clearld injured at Wimbledon but all the other tournemants he was not injured he has problem with his wife wanted to leave him at the beginning of the 2017 year
@@SJ-di5zuHe still made the quarters at Wimbledon and was beating Querrey until the hip completely gave out and that was the true end of prime Murray
@@ryoshusuke2108Ah I totally forgot about that. I guess Wimbledon 2017 was the last second week run of Murray’s career. Really sad to see; Murray was probably a top 2 favorite for Wimbledon, maybe the favorite, and yet 7 years later he’s never even come close to winning another
This their best match-up for sure !
Djokovic's forheand in 2017 compared to 2023 is like watching a different player
Serve also
@@nikoladjelic9383 yeah, serve is even greater
Ye technique totally different
Y éste fue el último enfrentamiento
Pov: tennis before the volley was invented
Djokovic vs Murray matches always were like this. Both were terrified to come to the net because of how fast the opponent was, but at times I really wondered why Murray didn’t come forward more in particular. Sometimes he’d have a shot at the service line, move up, hit a forehand, then run back to the baseline, which is something you don’t see much in pro tennis. He had decent net skills outside of the overhead too.
Because both can pass and love wonderfully well
The lost rivalry ❤❤, if we had the fortune to witness healthy Andy , the top four could have accumulated a ton of Grand slams 24+22+20+ Andy
This is when Murray was the best player in the world 😢
We miss seeing Andy, Rafa and Stan in the finals… Noone wants to make this transition to this new gen, but it’s inevitable wheather we like it or not 😢
Dunno if you can put Stan in with the other 3. He got to 31 finals in his career, total. Murray WON 48 titles, never mind the finals he lost in.
@@MarcoSpeaksNadsatStan is just the definition of a big match player. In best of 3, smaller tournaments, he really wasn’t that impressive. His results were maybe that of a player ranked 8th-12th. But in that stretch from 2013-2017, he consistently went deep at every slam, made 4 finals, won three, lost a few epic 5-setters to Novak and also won 4 matches against him… his H2H against Novak at slams is 4-5, but overall it’s 6-21, and 3/5 of those slam losses went 5 sets. It’s absurd how much Wawrinka stepped up his game at grand slams; from 2013-2017 RG he legitimately won more grand slams than Federer.
Novak looks so thin there
2016 right?
Murray was an incredible player considering he didn’t really have any weapons at all
If only Andy played like this for a few years after (and was able to). He would at least another 2 slams and many more in another era
That raquet smash at 5:5 in set 2 cost Novak big time. Really bad to do that in this siruation
last match with prime djokovic and murray. after this match they flopped the whole season
Murray was a nightmare opponent.
It was a great match.... but not the best
Military.
Their best ever on the normal tour, not including grand slams is Montreal 2015. This is just someone on the social media team wanting to stroke the Djokovic ego.....
I've seen enough Mury = goat
Andy never received the respect he deserved.
How passive was Murray, it's mind-blowing
His forehand is not good is not heavy
He wasn’t remotely passive in this match, tf?
That fucking line is one of those edgy things that fans like to say about him, even in instances when it’s so blatantly false.
Murray has already fallen in 2017, no way this is best match. Murray's forehand is pretty inoffensive in this match.
Mrs.
Hamil.
In terms of drama maybe, not quality.
Novak pasabolas
Que comentario tan pero tan ignorante.
