The 2 you multiply 4x where does it come from?

double angle formula for cosine solved for cos(a)^2 or sin(a)^2: cos(a)^2 = (1+cos(2a))/2 or sin(a)^2 = (1-cos(2a))/2. Sometimes they're also called the power reducing formulas. Hope this helps!
