Used to be enjoyable in the earlier 2000s I had a 106 gti, Saxo VTS, and Vtr my mates had metros with VVC conversions and 206 GTIs etc etc.. just better times everyone owned their cars for a start, no shite popping maps! Turbo cars were lusted after and a goal to work towards because they weren't the norm

I love my little fiesta st but i'm not kidding my self about it being very unqiue or whatever, it's just really fun to drive and that's it
not really, coyotes without an actually good exhaust system are just horrid noise, take the gunshot tunes off the focus's and I'd listen to them all day over a poorly done mustang that was just built to be loud

If I had an ST I'd make it unique by NOT having a loud exhaust or a pop n bang map. Same way I did my civic Si... Supercharged, but stock intake, stock exhaust, stock appearance.

Really wish people wouldn’t run pop and bang tunes on the ST’s, we call them XR5’s here in Australia and a lot of owners do it as well. Personally I prefer the sound of mine without any tuned in pops and bangs, just a nice exhaust system with natural pops and crackles here and there

the most beautiful thing about the ST's volvo engine is the gorgeous noise of the I5 and yet they all managed to ruin it with rancid pop and bang tunes.
I bought my Megane 4 RS because I love it. But one of the things I enjoy about it the most is that there's only 315 of the RS280 Sport in the country and I've only seen 2 on the road. I couldn't imagine owning a Fiesta/Focus ST/RS, they're basically traffic at this point.

You really should have measured a set distance from each cars exhaust for consistency - decibels trail off hugely with distance so you may have affected some of the results by measuring from slightly different distances.
Had the same thought. The distance they measured from was wildly different between cars. I know it's just a bit of fun, but if you're gonna meter it, it should be from about the same distance.

In UK it seems to be ST Focuses whitch as owner of Focus I am really jelous. Iam from slovakia and here you have good mix of cars but mostly old BMW, Audis and golfs take the crown here. Those are boring to me cuz you see them everywhere. ST and RS focuses are actually nice cars.

I've fallen out of love with meets and organised car events, rather just cruise around on my own and enjoy the scenery and my own company.

The sad thing is. 5 cylinders sound great on overrun. But all these ST's ruin it with the silly pops.

Most autos require you to be standing on the brake to select drive so fairly unlikely.

The pops and bangs were the loud bits, not the actual engine noise. They sounded like shit compared to any of the others.
