Good reaction. I think that although Wan is more submissive to Pleng, she definitely knows and understands her feelings for Pleng. While Pleng, on the other hand, seems to not fully understand what she feels. She knows she is jealous of Wan, but she doesn't quite know why. So she covers it up by calling it protective. Between the two girls, it's Pleng, who is the weakest and most needy, even though Wan is the one always chasing and apologizing to Pleng. They obviously love each other equally, its just that Pleng doesn't know how to show it as easily as Wan does, so Pleng shows it by being controlling of Wan.
