    Hi. I really appreciate your commitment to the HeartSupport cause, your willingness to share your story, and your video. Thanks.
    This may not be helpful, but as a relative newcomer to Resolve and knowing less than zero about color grading, I felt lost during your video and am hoping to find some content that starts more at the basics. For example, I think it’s great that you took the time to explain why you chose a particular input and output color space, but I have no idea what that even means. Same with “Looks” and your starting node tree.
    Anyway, I’m glad your channel is growing. I find your style engaging; I just need to have some basics in place before I can really appreciate your content.

    Thanks for this. But I've found DaVinci YRGB Color Managed to do some weird things when you incorporate images and various VFX assets, especially MotionVFX stuff. And even when you bypass the color management on the individual items. I''ve went back to node based color management. Have you encountered this issue?

    • @frenchiecolorgrading
      @frenchiecolorgrading  4 місяці тому

      I really love the YRGB Color Managed I love to have a more efficient way to grade.
      Also, for this tutorial, as it is for a large panel of viewers, I prefer to keep it as simple as possible in case someone is really beginner but still wants to follow along.
      But of course, you can have some issues with some motionvfx elements, especially where you can add photos. Resolve applies the color management on it and modify it.
      I also found an issue when you use the split tool and you compare your still grade with your shot. Resolve also applies the color management on the still which makes the image crazy.
      Other than these, I don’t see other issues.
      My take is to choose the method you are the most comfortable with to make your grades knowing their limitations :)

    good good good, just wonder, to save time you guessed your mid grey, and you have mid grey chart which you use for actual work, or you always guess and it works best? asking cause sometimes I feel guessing is quick and works fine

    • @frenchiecolorgrading
      @frenchiecolorgrading  3 місяці тому

      For split toning, you could use the mid grey technique and it works good :)
      I prefer when I grade to have the freedom to slide my points on the curve because I might want to target lower or upper mid grey if some split and roll-off doesn’t suit me enough :)
      I would say, if you are creating a lut and it needs to be viewed on cameras, displays … etc, use mid grey because you will have no control of your lut outside of your Davinci project.
      For grading, as it is a specific action to an image, you can allow yourself the freedom to slide your points on the curve :)

    To help,…. Remember that footage is already plural…. You won’t need to say footages, it’s just footage…
    And yes English can be a weird language. (:
    Your grade is fantastic tho! I love it! Keep up the great work*s* lol (;

    I haven't seen your stuff for a while and dipped back in.
    I was really impressed that you were using Gamma 2.2. Nobody else is talking about correctly using Gamma 2.2 for grading on domestic computer screens and pushing out to UA-cam.
    Best thing I ever did was work out the big difference of using Gamma 2.2. Everybody else just blindly states Gamma 2.4 because they watch tutorials from professionals who have very expensive Reference Monitors that use 2.4.
    Bravo
    😀

    • @frenchiecolorgrading
      @frenchiecolorgrading  3 місяці тому +1

      Yes, normally when I demonstrate on a tutorial, I put gamma 2.4 because this is the standard for television but all the consumer screens, other than tv, are in gamma 2.2. Most of my youtuber colleagues are doing the same because it’s normally how you learn to render projects in tutorials :)
      I am then thinking that maybe I will switch to demonstrate on a gamma 2.2 output for my future tutorials because I am thinking that people need to do more deliveries that will be seen on phones and laptops than on tv.
      Really appreciate that you liked the tutorial :)

    But rec.709 gamma 2.2 doesn’t always have a gamma shift on MACBOOK PRO USERS GRADING ON MACBOOK SCREEN. What do you recommend for MacBook Pro users grading on MacBook screen??? Please

    • @frenchiecolorgrading
      @frenchiecolorgrading  4 місяці тому

      Depend on where you are in the post-production pipeline.
      I would advice to always deliver in Rec709 Gamma 2.2 for video that will leave on the internet.
      For some Mac users with a Macbook screen, you can have a shift if you are the finishing artist and you deliver directly on UA-cam. For this then, if you don't want to be bothered by the shift and you are the finishing artist and you only deliver on youtube then set your output color space to Rec709-A.
      Otherwise, if you need to pass it to other teams, it will be in Rec709 Gamma 2.2.

    Hello j'ai une question : est-ce qu'il y a une différence flagrante entre le DWG et le Arri log c3 au niveau du workflow et du rendu final ?
    Super vidéo sinon !

    • @frenchiecolorgrading
      @frenchiecolorgrading  4 місяці тому

      Hello ! :)
      Le Arri Wide Gamut est plus petit que le Davinci Wide Gamut
      Ce qui veut dire que tu as plus de possibilités en termes de manipulations des couleurs et de leurs saturations respectives dans le DWG :)
